"Me coulda swear yuh seh it a keep ina we area." I shout in Shan's ear so that she can hear me over the loud music blasting. We arrived 5 minutes ago and were taking a look at our surroundings. Brandon left us saying that he had something to do and would return to the party later.
"Oh mi forgot fi tell yuh him change the location. Him say deh so woulda too small fi wull so much pple." She shouts back to me and I nod with understanding, looking at the massive crowd in front of me. I wasn't expecting such a large number of people when she mentioned her boyfriend was throwing a party. It felt like attending a concert.
By the time we joined the crowd of people, Shan was already dancing to the deafening music.
"Loosen up nuh Talia, a you one stand up like statue." She held both of my wrists, swaying her body in a bid to persuade me to move. I tried to do it, but she gave me a judgmental stare in return.
"No man Talia, not even me granny weh dead dance so. Yuh cah dance?" She asked, holding back a laugh. I was offended by this, but I tried not to show it.
"Kinda." I defend myself, but really I can't. To prevent feeling awkward, I stay put to avoid appearing foolish in front of others.
"Kinda? Yuh can whine?"
"A little bit." I demonstrate to her with my pointer finger and thumb.
Shaking her head, she then said "The gyal them with big batty never yet can dance. Uno just have this big ass fi nth and gyal like me deh yah want it and woulda know how fi work it."
"Yah fi go teach me then." I smiled.
"Girl mek mi teach yuh now!" She takes a step back and begins moving her hips to the Skillibeng song that is playing. It was hard not to watch her dance with surprise and amazement. I'll admit, she's really good.
"A who dat, good ole shannn!?" A girl came from nowhere and hyped her up. Two other girls accompanied her, and I started registering them as the friends she had previously mentioned to me
