"At the end of the rainbow, there's happiness."
A voice sang out into the openness of Hell as a human fell down from its skies.
"And to find it how often I've tried."
The said arrival fell to the ground with a splat. The pain soon following afterwards, rippling through her body like a tidal wave then leaving as quick as it came.
"But my life is a race. Just a wild goose chase."
The new arrival slowly got up, seeing the vast amount of bodies littering the unholy ground. These bodies almost looked... demonic.
"And my dreams have all been denied."
The new girl looks up to a flickering neon sign above her. WELCOME TO HELL.
"Why have I always been a failure?"
Did the young girl even die? She can't remember anything.
"What can the reason be?"
She remembers she is 14. Her name is Maya.
"I wonder if the world's to blame."
And she also knows she's alone.
"I wonder if it could be me."
She looked down to her reflection in a puddle on the ground. Short, curly black hair, Sharp fox like ears with a tail, smooth tan skin, black eyes with red pupils, and two fangs to complete the picture. She almost looked like a fennec fox, she noticed.
"I'm always chasing rainbows."
The voice continued to sing, unbeknownst to the teenage girl as she moved more into the new land.
"Watching clouds drifting by."
For the first time in her life (death?) she looked up. A big red sky with a pentagram was what she saw. No clouds covered it, no rain, no sun, no escape.
"My schemes are just like all my dreams,"
The girl continued to walk deeper into what appeared to be a city, constantly tripping over dead bodies.
"Ending in the sky."
A large barrage of bangs erupted into the sky making Maya look up into the sky once again. Fireworks.
"Some fellows look and find the sunshine."
That's when a number of demons, Maya notices, look outside of their windows. They don't look happy or content, however. They look scared. As if they were looking out for a threat.
"I always look and find the rain."
She ignores it, continuing to walk. She wants to find someone to help her. Or someplace to stay in.
"Some fellows make a winning sometimes. I never even make a gain. Believe me."
That's when Maya hears it,
"I'm always chasing rainbows."
Singing. Then she sees it. A blonde demon, singing with tears in her yellow eyes on the balcony of a hotel. She looked as pretty as a painting.
"Waiting to find a little blue bird,"
They make eye contact. And at that moment, it was almost as if the woman was singing to Maya.
"In vain."
