"It's a cute restaurant." Maya stated as they walked into the establishment.
"Indeed it is." Alastor said as he tightly held onto her hand. "I knew you would just love it!"
They were lead to a table next to the large window showing the view of a garden. Alastor ordered red wine and Maya ordered a glass of water. She kept looking at the alcoholic beverage that was in Alastor's hand.
"What is it, my dear?" He asked, noticing her eyes continuously flickering to him.
"What does wine taste like?" She asked.
He thought for a moment. "It's strong." He said. "Bitter, but not to the point where it tastes bad."
"How can something bitter taste good?" She asked him. Every food or drink that she's had that was bitter, wasn't good at all.
"Because it's bitterness that neglects the sweetness of the taste." His grin widened. "Just like people."
Maya shivered because of that. She didn't want to know anymore. He took a sip of his drink and asked for a separate empty glass. He poured a very small amount of it into the empty glass and handed it to the young girl.
"Would you like to taste it?" He asked.
Maya looked at the red liquid. It reminded her of blood. It was dark in color and the smell was already overpowering. She grabbed the glass anyway and put it against her lips. She took a sip and put it down.
"Well?" He asked.
"It's..." she licked her lips to see if she could get any more of the taste. "It's actually really good. I guess bitter is better than sweet."
Alastor chuckled at that and lifted his glass once again. "Some of the best people are bitter." He mumbled and took a sip of wine.
"When is the food gonna get here?" Maya asked, not hearing his comment.
"Soon, my dear." He said.
Just then a waiter came around with two plates. He placed them on the table along with silverware and napkins. Raw venison sat on Alastor's plate while a demon heart sat on Maya's.
"This looks..." Maya drifted off. She wanted to say it was disgusting but remembered Alastor was there. "You know, I'm not really that hungry." She said and slightly pushed away the plate in front of her.
"Just try it, sweetheart." Alastor said. "It's not bad."
He took a fork, pulled the plate closer to him, grabbed a piece, and held it out in front of her.
"Here." He said.
She looked at the piece in fear. She really didn't want to try it. He pushed the fork closer to her. He was getting angrier by the second, she could tell with how the static around him was getting louder. She closed her eyes and quickly took a bite. She swallowed it even quicker. Alastor's eyes softened.
"How is it?" He asked and out the fork down.
Her eyes widen. "I'm hungry now, that's for sure."
"Good." Alastor said. "Good."
She pulled the plate closer to her and took the fork from beside her. She devoured the heart quickly. Alastor laughed at her behavior. She was just like him in so many ways.
"Now, my dear." He said when she was done with her meal. "I want to propose something for you."
Maya smiled at him, fully trusting the man.
"I want you to stay by my side forever." He said. "When hell gets destroyed or Heaven leaves, I want you there with me."
"Okay?" She said, not knowing where this is going.
"I can protect you. I want to protect you." He said and reached over to grab her hand. "Let's make a deal."
Maya stiffened, she knew what a deal with the Radio Demon could include.
"I will protect you at all costs, give you anything and everything I can give you, and you will be taken care of by me for the rest of your death." Alastor said.
"In return..." Maya said, waiting for him to explain what he wanted.
"I want you to become my daughter."
...
Alastor held onto Maya's hand as they walked back to the hotel with Charlie and the cannibals following behind them. They saw Vaggie approaching the hotel as well, wings on her back and many carts of weapons behind her.
"Looks like you had a busy day." Vaggie said.
"You too." Charlie joked.
"Charlie I-"
"Hold that thought." Charlie pulls out a small head attached to a string. "I got you a souvenir from Cannibal Town."
They both hug each other, feeling much happier being together rather than apart.
"The wings are new. They look nice." Charlie stated. "Come one, let's go home."
The group all walk into the hotel to see Sir Pentious, Angel Dust, Husk, and Niffty building defense fortifications.
"Come along, let's put some effort into these fortifications." Pentious ordered.
"Well, look who decided to show up." Angel said from the second floor of the hotel. "We thought we were fightin' by ourselves."
"You're... you're still here?" Vaggie asked.
"What? Do you think we're a bunch of pusssssies?" Pentious asked.
"I just got used to you guys." Husk joked. "And I've been used to Maya."
He looked at her standing next to Alastor. His smile dropped at the sight.
"Well, looks like we have a lot of work to do." Charlie stated.
Only Husk could see the green chain connected to Maya. Alastor had completed his plan.
