Vox stepped into the room next to his own, Valentino and Velvette following close behind. Maya was still asleep, now on the bed. The young girl had wires wrapping around her arms and legs so that she couldn't escape.
"I'm impressed, Voxy." Valentino said. "You could always give her to me; see how much money she could make off of all the pedophiles out there."
"Fuck no." Velvette spoke up. "Give her to me, there's barely any children in hell. Put her on social media and she'll go viral."
"I'll be keeping her. For now." Vox responded. "I'll use her as bait and once Alastor gets here, I'll make a deal with him. I'm sure he'll submit because I have his daughter. It'll end his stupid little radio show, for good."
"You're no fun." Velvette said, looking through her phone, bored.
Maya begin to stir awake as everyone snapped their heads to her. She groaned for a little bit then sat up and opened her eyes.
"What?" Maya blinked for a little while, trying to regain her memories. She was on a call...
She looked around and saw three demons. She was on a call with them.
"Ahh!" Maya suddenly screamed. "Where am I?"
"Nope, I'm out." Velvette said and briskly walked out, not wanting to deal with a child.
"Yeah, I have that thing with the... the person." Valentino told him, walking out as well. He was never good with children.
Vox and Maya looked at them for a while then returned their attention back to each other.
Vox straightened his bow tie then spoke. "My name is Vox and I'm an overlord, so don't try shit. Once your father gets here, I'll have no need for you. You'll be let go after that." Vox stated plainly, without any smile.
"My father?" Maya questioned boldly. She didn't want to seem intimidated. "What are you talking about?"
"Alastor. The old radio prick?" Vox said. Surely he didn't have the wrong girl. He saw her on his cameras. He wasn't going blind like Valentino.
"Alastor's not my dad." Maya stated quietly.
"But he-he..." Vox was completely dumbfounded. She had to be his daughter otherwise he just kidnapped a random teenage girl!
"Then why the fuck are you so close?" Vox questioned.
The teenage girl shrugged her shoulders at this. "We're just good friends." She plainly responded.
Vox tightened his smile and walked out of the room for a minute, the electronic door automatically opening and closing behind him. Maya continued to sit on the mattress.
Vox screamed, "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!" But it was muffled by the door. He continued to say some other things, but it was once again muffled by the door.
He walked back in with the same tight smile. "You're lying." He said, his left eye glitching.
"No, I'm not." Maya argued, she looked into his eyes and noticed herself being drawn in to them. She started to get scared.
"Let's try again. What is your relationship with Alastor?" He asked. Every other word he said seemed to be glitching along with his right eye.
"I'm-I'm not his daughter." She said once again, even more frightened. What was he doing to her?
Vox stopped what he was doing and looked at her. She really wasn't his daughter. "You seem important enough to him. And if you aren't, then I'm sure you can be important enough to Val." He stated as his smile finally dropped.
He then once again walked out as Maya sat there in thought. She was hoping Alastor-or someone-would come to save her.
...
Maya sat there in the mattress, alone. No one was here. It'd been about 5 hours and no one had come for her. She still waited, hopeful.
12 hours passed. No one came. But she still waited. They wouldn't just leave her, right?
6 more hours had passed. Maya started to become extremely tired. She tried her best to keep her eyes open. She wanted to see on of her friends come through the door in front of her. She waited until she fell asleep.
8 more hours had passed and Maya had woken up. No one, she was alone. No one was coming for her. She wasn't important enough to Alastor. She wasn't important. She started to feel the waterworks forming in her eyes. And she fell asleep like that. Scared, alone, and unimportant.
...
Maya woke up that morning to the sound of the electric doors of the room opening. It's crazy to think it's already been a day. She slowly opened her eyes and looked up.
In stepped Vox without his full suit. It was just the collared shirt and pants. He seemed tired as well. Like he had stayed up longer than Maya had.
Then the thought hit her that he was waiting, too. They both were let down. Neither of them were important enough. He moved closer to her and sat down on the end of the bed she was on. He looked defeated.
"Let's try again. What is your relationship with Alastor?" Vox once again asked, staring into her eyes. His left eye wasn't glitching this time.
"I don't have one." She responded after a moment of silence.
Vox looked to the ground after that. He failed. Once again, he just wasted time. His plan didn't work. Alastor will always win.
"What's yours?" The girl asked him.
He looked back up at her. He was at a loss for words. Why would she ask him that? No one seemed to want to listen about the rivalry he had with Alastor.
Not the V's, not the other overlords, not even Alastor himself. But she seemed like she wanted to know.
It made him drop down his guard for a minute. It made him truly believe that someone did care. Maybe he was important enough for someone.
He smiled a little. In that moment, the rivalry didn't matter to him. "I don't have one." He said.
