Maya woke up to the sun shining in her eyes and the sound of humming in the bathroom. She sat up on the couch and noticed the red, satin blanket placed on top of her. Alastor must've given it to her. He was threatening her last night, and now he was okay? It didn't make sense to Maya.
Her red pupils darted to the bathroom door as Alastor came out all dressed and ready for the day. He stared at her expectantly and she stared back. She wanted to get out of his room.
"I'm sorry." She quietly said. "I shouldn't have gotten in your business." She said. She didn't believe herself and she'd be lucky if Alastor did.
"It's alright, my dear." He said. "I understand, you're quite a curious one. I was once a child as well, I know the feeling." He chuckled.
'Really? I couldn't tell.' She sarcastically thought to herself.
"You may go." He simply said.
She looked at him strangely. Was he really letting her go? She stood up slowly, the blanket falling back onto the couch, and she walked towards the door. She turned the handle and it... opened.
No tricks, no games, no deals. She looked back at him. She was expecting some sort of joking manner after her action of a laugh from him, but he simply watched her.
"Thank you." She nervously said. She was so confused.
"One thing," he said. "Tell anyone and I'll kill you." He threatened.
Her eyes went wide with fear and she could only nod her head and walk out. Alastor watched as she disappeared into the hallway.
Of course he was only bluffing. He would never hurt her. He had an abusive father once, and he wasn't about to become that for her. It's why he let her go so easily. He just wanted to scare her, that's all.
As she walked down the hall, she felt as if she had eyes on her. It nagged her and creeped her to the core. It was something darker than the shadows and more horrifying than a nightmare.
She kept whipping her head around, trying to find the source of her fear. She walked faster, feeling the eyes drill into her skull. They were everywhere. She was sprinting at this point, trying to get the feeling to stop.
She ran into someone and screamed. Sir Pentious held her shoulders to keep her from falling down.
"Are you alright?" He asked her.
The feeling went away. She looked at Pentious with wide eyes. She was still scared. Her breathing was rushed with adrenaline.
"Yeah..." she panted. "Yeah. I-I think so." She replied with a shaky voice.
Pentious looked at her in suspicion. Why was she so freaked out? What was scaring her?
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah..." she replied. Her breathing slowed and her adrenaline faded. "I'm fine." She gave him a small smile.
He looked at her for a minute. He gave a smile before quickly stopping when he realized what he was doing. He said nothing and slithered away. She turned around, walked backwards, and watched as he left.
Before she knew it, she tripped on one of the steps and tumbled down the stairs. She hit her head on the ground with a thud and cried out in pain. Angel, Husk, and Niffty immediately ran to her when hearing her cry.
"Maya! You okay?!" He asked, kneeling on the ground and checking for any possible injuries. Husk helped her up slowly.
"Yeah, I-I'm fine." She said, her voice cracking with fear.
