A week has passed and it's now supposed to be the time I get free. Though I knew they wouldn't let me roam freely. I had just woken up and the doctor Elite was removing the tubes from my arms and body. Once they were all out, I slowly pushed myself up to my feet, stumbling slightly in the process. But I maintained my standing.
Doctor Elite: Your vitals are stable, your body is relaxed and you're more than ready to move again.
I nod and shake my legs a little, trying to wake them up a little faster. Joining the Doctor and I, was the female Thel Vadam.
Thel Vadam: Is he stable?
Doctor Elite: Yes. Do you plan on duelling him right away?
Thel Vadam: Not quite. Let him adjust to movement first. Come take a walk with me, human.
She nods at me to follow her. Since I'm in no position to deny her, I follow her out of the room and we walk down the cruiser hallways. During our walk, I see other Grunts, Jackals and Elites arming themselves for the fight on Halo.
Thel Vadam: Hard to believe when I first met you, you seemed weak and pathetic. But that moment on Reach... You are unlike other humans we have encountered. Even when your body was breaking its limits, you continued to stand tall against impossible odds. And so, you have earned my respect as a warrior.
Mutasim: I suppose I should feel honoured then.
Thel Vadam: Indeed. I am not easily impressed. Were you an Elite, I would have welcomed you as a brother-in-arms.
Mutasim: I don't imagine you say that to a lot of people.
Thel Vadam: I do not. Consider yourself a lucky man.
I nod and we continue walking, turning a corner.
Mutasim: About my friend... Is she okay?
Thel Vadam: As well as she can be. Over the past few weeks, she has been begging to see you again. And I have decided to honour her request.
We approach a door which opens, revealing a set of cells. Thel leads the way to the end and turns right, allowing me to see Six! Her helmet was left behind on Reach and I could see her face.
Mutasim: Six!
Her head snaps up to me and she rushes to the cell barrier, placing her hands against it.
Noble Six: Mutasim! You're alive!
Mutasim: Yeah. Sorry I took so long.
Noble Six: I... I thought you...
Mutasim: Not yet. I'm stubborn when it comes to that kinda thing.
She giggles and smiles at me with a slight tear in her eye.
Noble Six: Yeah... I'm glad. The Covenant. They didn't hurt you, did they?
Mutasim: No. I was in a medic bay being treated.
