After going through the slipspace rupture, I took a deep breath. That was a lot more aggressive than I thought. I felt my insides were going in circles. Lilith didn't seem to be doing much better as her face was pale. I rub her back.
Mutasim: Easy, take deep breaths.
Cora: Probably should've warned you about the after effects. Especially since it's your first time.
Mutasim: You think?
I take another deep breath, feeling much better. Lilith leaned back into the seat as she began to recover.
Keyes (Radio): Sorry for the quick jump, Sergeant. You in one piece?
Sgt Johnson (Radio): I'm good. Chief?
Cortana: We're fine.
Keyes (Radio): Noble Six? Mutasim?
Noble Six: We're okay, ma'am.
Keyes (Radio): Cora? Since you know what happens here, what's next?
Cora: Now. We find ourselves in front of another Halo ring.
Keyes + Sgt Johnson (Radio): Another what?!
Lilith: What's a "Halo ring"?
Mutasim: To summarise it, it's a weapon that when activated, blows up an entire galaxy.
Keyes (Radio): You don't think the Covenant plan on using this one, do you?
Mutasim: Trust me Commander, they are.
Keyes (Radio): I want all the information on the first Halo you have.
Cora: Already sending it.
Keyes (Radio): Good. Given what we know about this ring, it's even more important we capture the Prophet of Regret, find out why he came to Earth. To here. Chief, Six, Mutasim, take first platoon. Hard-drop. Secure a landing zone. Sergeant, load-up two flights of Pelicans and follow them in.
Sgt Johnson: Aye, aye ma'am.
Keyes (Radio): Once you leave the ship, you're on your own.
Chief: Understood.
We enter some ships and sit down. Six sits next to me while Chief and Lilith sit opposite us. Six pats my back.
Noble Six: You doing okay?
Mutasim: Yeah, never better. You?
Noble Six: Well, I've never been on a Halo ring before so... I guess it's an experience.
Mutasim: Yeah. We'll see if you say the same when the Flood show up.
Chief: The Flood are here?
Mutasim: They're still locked up. For the most part.
Cortana: I'll be honest, I don't like being left in the dark.
Mutasim: There are... reasons why I should keep quiet.
Six hands me an assault rifle which I take and nod thanks. I then pick up a magnum from a weapon box next to the pods. Most of this part would be long range battle, but I kept my Energy Sword on me regardless. We get in our pods and we plummet down towards the Halo ring, crashing down onto the terrain.
After landing, I realise I was separated from everyone else, making me sigh.
Cora: Guess it's just us two for now.
Mutasim: We'll meet up with the others soon. In the meantime, you wanna get anything off your chest while we're alone?
Cora: Are we going to tell Cortana about her rampancy?
