New Day in a Old Life

An exhausted groan left my lips as I woke up. My eyes shone in a dark room, void of light. Sitting up from my bed, I take a look at my window and see it's still dark out. I pick up my phone that's been charging on the side of my bed and take a look at the time. Although it was dark outside, I saw that it was actually 6:50 in the morning. 10 minutes before my usual wake up alarm was supposed to ring. But since I'm already awake...

I throw the blanket off me and get up, immediately getting changed into my usual outfit consisting of a black t-shirt, jeans, boots and a coat. Once I changed, I picked up my backpack and made sure all of my university stuff was in there. After a quick and thorough check, I put the bag on and went downstairs, leaving the house.

Upon leaving the house, I felt a freezing cold breeze blow past me, making me shiver. I mumbled a low curse as I started to make my way to the nearby bus stop. I preferred Thursdays where I don't have to wake up so damn early for a two hour trip. It didn't take me long to reach the bus stop. All I had to do now was just wait for the bus to come along. Since I had woken up early, I didn't need to worry about too much traffic. School rush usually starts at around 7:30-8.

Before I knew it, the bus had arrived and I boarded it, taking a seat close to the back. The trip is pretty boring. I ride the bus to a train station and then stay on the train for an hour or so until I finally arrive at my university.

With little enthusiasm for the day, I entered the campus grounds and made my way to the first lecture. I'll be honest, listening to a bunch of people talk is not how I'd wanna spend my "best years" but the whole attendance thing has kinda screwed me over in that regard. Not much I can do about it except just keep going to these sessions.

It was a painfully long day and it didn't help that I had a two hour break in between my lecture and seminar, leaving me with nothing to do for that period of time. Finally, after putting up with the painful hours, I was finally allowed to leave and go home.

However, the weather really wasn't in my favour today. As soon as I left the building, I walked right into a storm. A low groan left my lips as I realised I'd have to walk home soaking wet. I would have brought an umbrella, but my phone said it wasn't going to rain today. So that was a fucking lie.

I made my way to the train station and waited for my ride. Problem was by this time, it was going to be packed with people so I was probably gonna have to fight for a spot. Waiting for the train, I pulled out my phone and scrolled through social media. After a few minutes, I heard a bunch of screams coming from my left making me frown. Curious, I turned to look and immediately saw two people fighting on the tracks. One of them was man with his pants down and the other was a young school girl.

My eyes widened and I turned to the crowd, hoping someone else was going to intervene. But to my dismay (and I suppose lack of faith in humanity), everyone else was just recording the whole thing on their phones. Gritting my teeth, I jumped down on the tracks and shoved the pants less man away from the girl. While the man was distanced from the girl, I took the chance to help the girl back up onto the platform. As soon as I did that, I heard the sound of a train close by. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a train coming right at me!

The man tried to rush me, but I grabbed his arms and pushed him back down on the tracks. I then immediately turned to the platform and climbed up just in time to avoid getting run over! A few deep breaths left my lips as I just barely made it. I couldn't say the same for the other guy though. Pushing myself up to my feet, I heard some bratty cheering and a bunch of people started filming me, getting their phones up in my face.

I grabbed the first phone I saw and tossed it away before entering the train. These people were fucking twisted. They'd rather record a girl get raped than actually step in and stop it when they're literally right next to her! It's moments like these where I wish I could just wake up in the Halo universe.

The rest of the trip back home was uninteresting. When I got back home, I was exhausted and jumped into bed. A low sigh left my lips and I shut my eyes, hoping to fall asleep quickly.

Just another day in this boring life...
