Armed with a tank and the aid of Rtas and Thelya, we begin to make our way through the Halo ring. We blew up Ghosts, other Wraiths, and various Brutes. Upon entering a structure, we came across Hunters, a few more Elites, Jackals and a couple Grunts. My heart dropped when all of them aimed their weapons at me.
Thelya: STOP! The human is with us!
Elite: Arbiter? We thought you were dead.
Thelya: No. What is the situation?
Elite: The Brutes are keeping us from reaching Tartarus. The only way to get to him is to take the Scarab.
Thelya: Then that is what we shall do. Hunters, protect the human.
Mutasim: I can handle myself, Thelya.
Thelya: Perhaps. But you do not wear any protective armour. I will not take that risk.
I sigh and rub my head.
Mutasim: If you insist...
The Hunters approach me and look down at me. Oddly enough, I noticed their armour was... different. Different in the sense that they looked female despite the Hunters just being a mass of worms.
Thelya: Let us move.
Nodding, we all proceed through the structure, fighting and killing all the Brutes that stood in our way. Once we finally reached the top of the structure, we were met with human prisoners held hostage by the Brutes. One Brute grabbed a human and had a Plasma Rifle pointing at us.
Brute: Stay right there!
Thelya: Let them go. If you do as I say, I will make it quick and painless.
The Brute snarls at her, ignoring her demand. I quickly borrow a nearby Jackal's sniper and take aim at the Brute while I hide behind the Hunters. I notice the Brute about to fire, but I shoot the rifle out of his hand and then shoot him in the face, forcing him to let go of the human. The alien roared in anger and pain but was quickly silenced as Thelya struck him down with her Energy Sword.
Rtas Vadum: A good shot. For a human.
Mutasim: I'll take it as a compliment.
He hums quietly in response. All of a sudden, the Scarab moves and everyone aims their weapons at it. I manage to calm them down and convince them to lower their guns and I walk towards the Scarab. As I do so, a familiar voice calls out.
Sgt Johnson: Mutasim?! You alive still?
Mutasim: Clearly. These guys are with me. We need to stop Tartarus from firing the Halo ring. And he's locked himself in.
Sgt Johnson: Well, I just happen to have a key. Come on. Grab a Banshee and give me some cover. The rest can get inside the Scarab.
I turn to Thelya and nod at her, signalling her to do as Johnson said. The two of us pilot Banshees while the others enter the Scarab and await deployment. But upon entering the Banshee, I realised something. I had no idea how to fly this thing. All around me were different screens and panels and I had no idea what to make of it.
