It is published now, along with the alternative ending, since the choice in the quick note to publish it now won

I was sitting on my place, as I was nervously tapping the floor of the train with my boots.

So many thoughts were going trough my head.

Good, bad, and those in between.

Why did I even think, that it was a good idea to go alone to the poorest District that existed.

I clenched the fabric of my clothes, as my jaw muscles tensed.

Even my worst outfit would be considered a to be great to plunder for the black market, alongisde with the money I was having with me.

Oh, why did I let my intrusive thoughts win?

As the train stopped, freeing me from my reasoning I stood up, and guided myself towards the exit.

"Excuse me." I went towards the first Peace Maker that was the closest to me, swallowing my fear.

After all if those people wanted to take my things, it would only be because of those in power.

Of Casca, Gaul, who invented the Hunger Games. Of the president, who let the districts crumble away. Of my origins, which made me an enemy towards the districs from my birth.

"Oh... you look just like him." He answred, as his gaze met mine.

Just like him - it was obvious that he was talking about my dead brother.

"How can I help you?" He asked then.

"I... uh... am looking for Sejanus Plinth. He is a Peace Maker from not so long ago," I breathed, as I awerted my eyes from him and looked into the distance.

Trees were surrounding us, which was a rare view for me.

Even those ragged down buildings looked more cozy than those skyscrapers in the Capitol.

The Pace Maker shifted his body wieght from one leg to another, as he decided to follow my gaze.

"I prefer you to go back, since there will be a hanning in an hour."

"Why would I go back?"

"It is not a spectacle for a girl to watch." He anwsered right back, shifting his wieght once again.

"Too bad I saw worse things than that," I replied, as I moved forward. "But thank you for your help."

I made a few steps, and I turned around at my heel as I realized that I didn't knew this place, or knew where I was supposed to go.

"Are you attending the hanging too?" I asked the man.

"It's obligatory for Peace Makers."

And so, I went there togheter with him, and two of his friends.

We didn't talk much, as I was walking behind them.

After all, I wanted it to be a surprise for Sejanus. I wanted to see how a sparks imgnite in his irises the moment he sees me.

"I advise you to be close to us, and not go among the District 12 citizens." His voice took me out from my thoughts, as we inddeed, arived at the place.

Apparently the tree, that was not so far away from us. had the name The Hanging Tree.

I didn't even had to ask why, as the name was quite obvious.

Four people would be hanged for treason today, and yet, only three ropes were hugging the necks of it's soon victims.

One being there alone.

A murmur resounded as the fourth person was brought out. The Peace Maker looked at him and turned to me, as I couldn't see the person, because I wasn't high enough.

"I can escort you to the hangars, so you don't have to watch how the makeshift gallows work." Why was he so eager for me to leave?

It's not like my family was walking up those little stairs.

"No," I whispered to him, as a response, but also to myself as I couldn't believe my eyes. "No."

I felt, how tears falled onto my cheeks, as my lips trembeled.

"Sejanus!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, and shortly after that the Peace Maker held onto my arm.

Turning my head to him I saw how he shook his head.

I abruplty fred my arm, taking a step forward.

"Sejanus!"

His glance stopped on me, as his eyes froze in shock. Shivers went down mine spine as I saw his look.

How he regretted noticing me, and not the thing he had done, that made him stand on the other side of the gibbet.

"Sejanus!" I was now tearing myself trough the crowd, hoping that I would get there in time, and maybe save him somehow.

The rope was put around his neck, as he stood there, already acepted his fate.

They tightened the rope, walking away from all four traitors.

"No!" The scream, my scream, was like an echo, as his legs started to dangle. As the birds were repeating my word.

Someone, right from under the tribunes started to make his way towards me.

A scoff escaped my lips, as they twisted up. Did they wanted to kill me now, since I was screaming Sejanus name?

Is that why a Peace Maker was coming my way?

My empty gaze was watching his dandling body, that was almost dancing with other three corpses in the wind.

"I will ki-" I started to scream again, but was prevented to do so.

A hand was put on my mouth, and my body lifted up.

"Don't. Unless you want to die too." If it hadn't been for his voice, I wouldn't have had recognized him.

That's right.

He was in District 12 togheter with Sejanus.

So it was him, who started to move towards me.

"Why didn't you save him?" I whimpered, as he put his hand away from my mouth, but brought me away from the Hanging Tree.

"Why?" I whined, as my tears were smuding his uniform.

Coriolanus didn't anwser, as he looked away from me.

Almost as if he was sorry for something. But in reality he was never sorry for anything.

"Why?!"

"I tried to. I did. It didn't turn out like I wanted to." His voice was almost silent, as his blue eyes were only then able to look at me.

"I am sorry [Y/N]."

Why did everyone decide that it was a great idea to change their personalities in such a short time?
