'Mum, have you seen my badge?' I yell out rummaging through my side drawer. 'I can't find it anywhere.'
'No honey. Check if its in Bens room?' She replies from the living room. I knock at his door only to be greeted by hard rock metal music blasting through the speakers.
'Ben, it'll be good if you turn that volume a little down, baby brother' i say pinching his cheeks. 'Have you seen my name badge?'
'Yeah i think it was on the dining table downstairs.' He say and quickly returning to his music mania right after. And there i see my golden badge resting on the table. My name, Stacey Conroy beautifully printed in black on it. I quickly pin it on my uniform as i head out. The gruelling heat stung my skin as i walked on the streets.
I was greeted by Harry who was wiping the counters and assembling the items. Madam wasn't at work today due to some family commitment. So in our department only Harry and I are alone.
I start observing the eternal greek God standing infront of me. Gosh, he is hot. His fine tall body that is covered in a tight black shirt that shows more of his muscles. His beautiful forehead is slightly covered with his dark brown silky hair that fall vigorously. His chiselled cheekbones are to die for. I love how he very unconciously flips his hair causing my heart to literally skip a beat.
He turns around with a cheeky smirk. 'Checking me out, huh?' He breaks my trance and i stutter, 'W-what,no? You crazy?' He winks and turns away. My stomach twists into a pool of embarrassment as my cheeks flush red.
A customer comes over with her purchases, putting items one by one on the cash counter. I started doing my duty as she interrupted my work, 'So Stacey' looking at my badge. 'I see you're a very pretty girl.'
I pass her a genuine smile, 'Thank you, ma'am.'
I roll the trolley to its original pile as Harry comes over. 'Pretty girl, huh?' He winks and leaves for the racks. My heart pounds faster and all of my inside jumps and prepares to dance, but i think its best to remain casual and i just smile and walk away.My phone rings. I answer, 'Hello Jane'. 'I'm coming to pick you up in like fifteen minutes and we're going to the mall to buy sexy dresses for ourselves for the welcome party tomorrow night.'
I sigh, 'I don't wanna go Jane, li-'
'Shutup Loser, coming to pick you up. Byeeee' and hangs up. Damn my best friend. And as per her promise, she starts honking her car horn.
I walk towards Harry, 'Um Harry?' I say. He turns around. 'Yeah?' Oh God he's too gorgeous. 'Um basically I'm going to the mall with my friends, so will you close up for me tonight?'
His eyes sparkle as he says, 'Yeah sure, have fun.' I nod as i run towards Jane's car with Anna sitting on the passenger seat. 'Hey Girls!' I greet as i hop in.******************************
'What about this dress, guys?' Anna says as she holds up a dress. It is dark green with a red bow on the left. Its short and okay-ish.
'It's not that good.' Jane says as if hearing my thoughts. 'Yeah.' I agree as we check out some other dresses.Wandering in the store, i set my eyes on one dress and i know I'm gonna but that only. Its a knee-length dark blue dress, tight from the chest and flowey till the end. It has a huge white flower on its waist with a white belt. Its strapless. I try it on and it looks stunning, hugging all my curves in the right places. I step out of the try room and receive 'woahs' and 'ohs' from both of them. I smile.
And as soon as all three of us are done picking our dresses, we head out for a yummy scoop of icecream. There is a pat on my shoulder. I turn back to see Sebastian, my ex boyfriend and Darcy, his recent, looping her arms on his waist. I can literally feel the hatred boiling inside of me.
Sebastian and i shared a very good relationship for seven months until he dumped me for this slut, Darcy. I was so taken aback, that i went into a state of depression for the next four months. Yes, that is the time when i started taking those ugly looking dark brown antidepressants. At least they skipped my anxiety attacks for a while. So yea, this is why i hate this guy. I'm finally over this douchebag.
'Let's go girls.' I ignore both of them as i head outside the mall for the icecream parlour. I wasn't nervous or something because im done crying over this man whore. My girls give me a supportive nod as we drive.
******************************
'Mum, I'm home!' I yell as i enter the house. 'She's at the market to get some dinner.' I nod to Ben who doesn't even spare a glance at me while playing his video game in the living room. I go up and change my work uniform into sweatpants and a tank top.
After dinner i wash the dishes and clean the kitchen. I walk up the stairs to my room and jump on the bed. Im so tired. Before i know im in the dark river of my sleep.
'Stacey. Ashamed of you. You know i got killed. And you w-' 'Dad!' I scream as i jolt upright. 'Dad?' I say. My heart was beating so fast as if it had been electrocuted. I quickly blinked my eyes trying to clear my vision. The slow beam of moonlight filtered through my curtains. It was 2 am. Midnight. I have school in the morning and i certainly cant seem to sleep.
I walk out the balcony to look at the stars. The dark sky with shinny dots sparkling, scattered in random places. A tear rolls down, i miss my father. And this nightmare, i can't seem to comprehend what it meant. I start over thinking of the scenarios and i throw up. My puke is on the balcony floor and creates a pungent smell. I try cleaning up before having two pills of my antidepressants. I swear if mom finds out I'm on these pills she'll have a nervous breakdown.
I head to my bed, in a hope to finally sleep peacefully till my alarm clock screams in the morning for school.
------------------------------
I really liked this chapter. All of it just came naturally. Depression, fathers dreams, and undying love for Harry Cooper is just the starting of the problematic world that lays infront of Stacey.
Stay tuned, as there is more drama coming up your way.
Teaser: Don't underestimate Sebastian. ;)
