'I'm literally going to throw up if i have one more bite of this pizza.' I say in pauses and sighs because I'm actually so full.
'I'll have it.' Justin greedily jumps over the last slice of the cheesy treat that sits there alone in the pizza box, and in no time is in Justin's stomach. After clearing the bills we leave for the pizza parlour and head out.'Guys, if you'll excuse Stace and I, we have to go to work. We'll see and plan out something tomorrow, yeah?' Harry says and everyone nods.
'Kyle could you please pick Ben and Karen up from Andy's house and drop them home?' I request him. 'Sure thing.' He beams. After i went to meet mum inside, Ben was feeling sick and he wanted to rest, so Karen volunteered and took him to Andy's house, which is nearby the hospital. Andy sits in my Literature class. After i came outside the room, Anna told me where Karen and Ben were.
Work is good, normal. We have new packages and items incoming today which we have to place on their respective shelves of the grocery store. Both Harry and I are assigned different departments today, I'm in the frozen foods one and he's probably handling the toiletries section. Work on Saturday's is kind of boring, since Betty doesn't come, she's literally the funniest. She makes work a lot more fun than one would peg it to be.
Work is finally over and I enter my house. Harry has some faucet fixing in his house which he has to do so he said he won't swing by tonight, leaving Ben, Karen and I alone in the house. The day was tiring altogether, the hospital, then work. Which reminds me i have unfinished chores to do, a shit load of clothes to wash. Damn. I mentally groan trailing into the kitchen helping myself a glass of water.
To my amazement, the kitchen is sparkling clean, stainless. There are fresh sandwiches and fruit trifle cling wrapped on the table with orange juice. Somebody has made dinner. Its almost 8 at night ànd I'm super glad i don't have to cook tonight. I don't think it's Karen since she's raw in the kitchen and it definitely isn't Ben. Then who could it be? I think that's for me to find out tonight.
I gulp down the cold water and then walk towards the laundry. I'm surprised. All the clothes have been washed and are neatly hung on the wire for them to dry up, plus they smell of fresh fabric conditioner, just the way i like and prefer. Wow. I think somebody enchanted my house with good magic. If that even makes sense.
The house is awkwardly silent tonight. I knock at Ben's door and there is no response. I open the door to see him peacefully sleeping on his bed, he must be tired. Next, i knock on the guest room door where Karen is living.
'Come in.' She says from inside.
I open the door and she's using her laptop laying on the bed. I see she's googling something about pregnancy and their nutrition and stuff. At least she's surfing over something productive and beneficial for her.
'Hey its you.' She beams and instantly gets up from the bed. 'I didn't hear you coming though. Come, I've already prepared dinner so you wouldn't have to cook tonight.'My eyes grow wide as i stare at her. 'Don't worry i didn't burn your kitchen down. Ben was tired so he ate early and slept. Come.'
We both sit on the table as we munch on some chicken sandwiches.
'These taste good. You didn't have to do that though, knowing you're pregnant and all.' I say, sipping my juice.
She exhales a slight laugh and says, 'I'm only two months pregnant Stace, I'm okay. And I'm doing this just because i want to, you're making me feel like your family and you're helping me through a lot, so this is the least i can do.' She says in a soft voice. I nod and smile.'By the way i heard about your mother, I'm so glad she's fine. Congratulations.' She flashes a genuine smile. 'Thanks.' I reply. 'Who did the laundry?'
'Oh that. I did it, but Ben guided me throughout because he wanted them to be done just the way you do it. He's such an adorable kid.' Karen says.
'Thank you so much. This means a lot.' I say in a caring manner, earning a teeth smile from her.
