"Meredith where is dinner?" Derek asked entering the house loudly, it was unusual for Meredith have dinner ready for Derek especially when he worked late.
Meredith suddenly appeared running down the stairs ignoring the pain in her knees.
"I'm so sorry Derek I wasn't feeling great today I fell asleep, I can make dinner now or we can order something," Meredith explained hoping Derek would accept that answer"I don't want to order something Meredith, I was dinner to be ready when I get home. You didn't work today is it really that hard to just prepare dinner for your boyfriend?" Derek asked not bother to look up at Meredith from the papers he had in his hand.
"I'm sorry, should I order your favourite?" Meredith asked, trying not to react to the pain in her shoulder from waking up so quickly.
"No it's fine I'll do it myself." Derek replied before walking into the lounge.
About half an hour later the door bell ran and Meredith went to answer, but we quickly pushed out of the way by Derek.
"What did you order?" Meredith asked smiling at her boyfriend, but he didn't reply just walked past her again. As Meredith watched him walk she realised what was happening. Derek was a really sweet guy but he also knew well how to give someone the silent treatment. There was no way Meredith was going to get him to talk to her. Checking the time she decided to just call it an early night she was still tired from her doctor's appointment today and was incredibly anxious about the results.
The next afternoon
Meredith and Derek returned from work together, he'd still not spoken a word to her, she was used to it; anytime they had a fight he would just ignore her till she apologised well apologised and he accepted it.
Checking the time she knew it was nearly dinner and if she wanted her boyfriend to talk to her again she knew she better start cooking.
Halfway through cooking, her phone starting to ring at first she was just going to ignore it probably some spam called again but something made her want to check it.
"Hello Meredith Grey Speaking." She said holding the phone up to her ear, grateful Derek wasn't around.
"Hello Dr Grey, this is Dr Hope sorry for calling you so late." Dr Hope replied, immediately Meredith stopped what she was doing focusing on the call, maybe she was finally going to get some answers.
"Hi Dr Hope, it's not a worry at all, do you have results?" Meredith asked
"Yes, I do and as I suspected the next steps is the overnight test, we can schedule these whenever suits you but the sooner we do the tests the sooner we may be able to get you a diagnosis." Dr Hope explained,
"Yes yes, of course, um... I'm not working the next two days is there any chance we could do it then." Meredith replied unsure, that would mean she would need to talk to Derek and hope Derek would accept the apology.
"Yes we can do tomorrow, if you arrive around 3pm?" Dr Hope suggested.
"Ok thank you," Meredith replied quickly noting it down in her diary.
"No worries, hopefully we can get some answers tomorrow." Dr Hope replied,
"I hope so, I'll see you tomorrow" Meredith said feeling a smile creep across her face, she really hoped Dr Hope was right,2 Hours Later
Meredith and Derek had eaten dinner in silence, Derek still refusing to acknowledge Meredith.
"Derek?" Meredith tried, but got no response.
"Derek, I know you're angry, I'm really sorry, but I need to talk to you." Meredith tried again,
"What?" Derek asked bluntly
"I um..well.. you see.." Meredith tried tripping over her words
"Spit it out women." Derek demanded
"I'm sorry, um well you know or you might not because I don't mention it much but I have difficulty with things day to day, I'm regularly in pain, and I also feel dehydrated and I get dizzy really easily.." Meredith started to explain
"And?" Derek asked, looking back at the tv in front of them.
"Well, um... I've been to a few doctors and most of them have told me it was just stress or something along those lines but..." Meredith continued
"Right so why are you bringing it up." Derek asked
"Well I went to see one last doctor, Dr Hope and she didn't just dismiss me she actually listen and she did some tests that's why I was so tired yesterday, the tests where really long, well they where actually that long they just felt long because I felt so tired which is another symptom I'm concerned about, I mean of but it's probably just a symptom of my other symptoms, I don't really know.." Meredith explained
"Get to the point!" Derek demanded,
"Right sorry, yes she did some tests yesterday and the results are back so now I need to do some more tests but they require me to stay over night and someone to drive me home." Meredith answered, not sure how he would react.
"So let me guess you want me to drive you?" Derek asked looking at her,
"Yes please." Meredith said smiling, "I'd be so grateful."
"You better be, I'm driving you to a doctors appoints on my day of then I have to come pick you up? Just so you can have some tests that will probably tell you what the other doctors have already told you that your a hypochondriac who doesn't need to be wasting a doctors time just so she can get some attention, but yes I'll take you. Don't bother me for the rest of the night though." Derek demanded,
Meredith was surprised, that was a better reaction than she had anticipated, he hasn't yelled or anything.
"Thank you so much, the appoints at three." She said smiling
"Yea yeah what ever." Derek sighed more focused on the tv in front of him.
Meredith now happy that was sorted, decided to call it early that night dinner was completely packed up the house was clean and she didn't know what would be expected of her for the tests tomorrow,Lying down in her sheets, Meredith sighed feeling every muscle in her body start to ache. This was usual for her, normally she would just lie still and eventually she would fall asleep. She sighed as she felt a hot sensation on her arm, she's made the mistake of scratching her arms before lying down. Carefully she got up gently dampening a cloth before lying down in her bed laying the cloth over her aim sighing as it brought some sense of relief.
Soon enough she fell asleep, her body aches and pains forgotten for another night.
