Till Death Do Us Part

Suddenly Meredith phone buzzed, pulling them away from the moment,
I'm staying at the hospital
That's all the message from Derek had said, he could be a man of very few words especially when it evolved talking to his girlfriend.
"Everything ok?" Arizona asked, watching Meredith's expression change
"Yeah, Derek's just spending the night at the hospital, so I'll be on my own tonight and I don't love being on my own over night in case I have a flair up or something goes wrong, not that he's much help anyway." She explained, "don't worry about it, what are we going to do now?"

"There's a pond down the other end of the park, we could walk down there and get some ice-cream?" Arizona suggested, trying to distract Meredith from Derek lack of care for his girlfriend,
"That sounds fun," Meredith said, still with a hint of sadness in her voice,
"Let go, are you feeling ok nothing too sore?" Arizona asks, helping Meredith stand up
"No I think I'm ok thank you though," Meredith says smiling,

"Good let's go then," Arizona says smiling, linking arms with Meredith to lead her down the path,

The pair chatted happily as the walked through the garden, Arizona sharing all her knowledge of the flower and plants there with Meredith as they walked,
"You know a lot about plants," Meredith says smiling,
"Oh sorry, it's one of my special interests, I'll stop," Arizona says quietly.
"No no, please don't sorry, I like it please keep telling me all about the plants, I really like hearing you talk about them," Meredith replies looking at Arizona
"Oh ok, well..." Arizona continues,

The sun is starting to set by the time the pair make it to the lake,
"Here we are my love, would you like some ice cream?" Arizona asks leading Meredith to the store,
"Um yes strawberry please, but I'll pay," Meredith replies going to grab her purse,
"Nonsense, two strawberry ice creams please," Arizona orders then pays,
"Thank you," Meredith says smiling, before turning back to the store, "do you by any chance have any salt packets?" Meredith asks the store owner who nods and hands her several sachets, "thank you," Meredith says again before starting to put the salt on her ice cream,
She was so caught up in the moment she didn't even notice Arizona watching her at first,
"Salt on ice-cream I didn't realise that was a thing,"Arizona says smiling
"Oh um, it's um for um... sorry it's weird I know, umm it's not.." Meredith tried to reply but starts stumbling over her words,
"Oh Mer, no no I'm sorry it wasn't a bad thing, it's ok, go for it, I was just messing with you." Arizona replies quickly, saddened but the tears forming in Meredith's eyes,
"Oh um... I do it for my pots salt help and I was feeling a little bit dizzy so... sorry Derek yells at me about it, says it makes my food disgusting and that I shouldn't put salt on everything."
"No honey, you do what ever you need to, to feel better did you say your feeling dizzy here sit down." Arizona said quickly guiding Meredith to a near by bench.
"Thanks Zona," Meredith said smiling,
"No thanks necessary," Arizona said laughing as she sat next to Meredith, "oh Mer you've got some ice-cream in your nose let me..." Arizona said turning to wipe Meredith nose, admiring the way the setting sun shone across Meredith's face.
"Your know your very beautiful Mer," Arizona cooed her eyes moving between Meredith eyes and lips, slowly letting herself lean forward, closing the gap between them.
Meredith brought her free hand up resting it against Arizona's cheek as she leaned into the kiss allowing herself to enjoy the moment.
Arizona was the first to break the kiss slowly sitting back to look at Meredith,
"Was that...did you want that?" Arizona asked suddenly very self conscious that she'd just kissed Meredith
"It was amazing, Zona, I've never felt such love in a kiss in my life." Meredith replied holding Arizona's free hand.
They both just sat there in silence for a moment enjoying each others company,
"Shall we go home?" Arizona asked, smiling at Meredith.
"Um yeah." Meredith sighs,
"Hey, don't worry you're not going to be alone, I'll stay the night at your house, that way if you need me I'm just in the other room." Arizona said, watching a weight be lifted of Meredith shoulders,
"Thanks Zona" Meredith said
"No thanks necessary." Arizona cooed before helping Meredith stand up, "How are you feeling?"
"A bit sore but I'll be ok," Meredith said gritting her teeth as she straighten her knee, squeezing her eyes shut as she stood
"Wow, you sure?" Arizona asked worried
"Yeah, sorry stood up to quickly I'm ok." Meredith explained, "let just get back to the car, how far is the walk?"
"Only about 5 minutes," Arizona replied, lopping her arm around Meredith's
"How we walked for much more than that today?" Meredith asked confused,
"We walked in a loop my love the cars just there" Arizona explained, pointing to the car park just behind the trees, that was coming into sight.

Arizona helped Meredith into the car as her legs where starting to get really sore,

Once they made it back to Meredith's house, Meredith tried to get out of the car but winced in pain as she moved her hips,
"Hang on Mer, slow down, let me help you." Arizona called rushing out of the car to help Meredith,
The pair where able to get into the house Meredith leaning against Arizona,
"Let's get you into bed and I'll get you some dinner," Arizona cooed, helping Meredith up the stairs,
"Thank you Zona." Meredith smiled,
"No thanks necessary my love," Arizona cooed gently helping Meredith into bed, "do you have any braces yet?" Arizona asked,
"I've got one for my knees but I'm not meant to sleep in it." Meredith replied, the braces were so expensive she couldn't afford to purchase all of them and it would be some time before they were approved on her health insurance.
"Ok well let's pop it on then, I'll help you take it off before you go to sleep," Arizona explained, before helping Meredith put her knee braces on and going down stairs to prepare some dinner for them both.

Hope you enjoyed sorry there had been such a gap, I can't promise I will update regularly. It's not that I don't want to a just sometimes lack the motivation to keep going, the whole story is planned I just sometimes find it hard to write the chapter but it will eventually get written it will just take some time I hope you can understand that.
