I HATE MEN

I waddled around Camp, panting slightly due to exhaustion, my body trembling slightly. Small nicks and cuts littered my skin, and I probably smelled like rotten fish, yuck! I complained quietly under my breath, kicking a stone and pouting. Yes I had won, but I was tired, I didn't want to do it anymore.

I heard someone come up to me, and I turned to see a blonde kid around my age. "Hey—"

I groaned, not really in the mood. "No," I mumbled, swerving around him. "Resting."

He laughed, causing me to pause and stare at him. His smile was bright, and even at his young age he practically oozed out heroism and passion.

"Sorry, daughter of Neptune," He said. "for interrupting your quest for some rest—hey that rhymed!—but please just listen!"

I huffed, shifting my weight slightly. "Yes?"

He studied me curiously, bright blue eyes looking into mine. "I saw you in the arena over there, how old are you?"

"I just turned Six," I said quietly, looking away with a slight pout, "Uh—why?!"

"You're my age!!" He exclaimed, a genuine happiness in his voice. "Finally, someone in the legion is!"

Istudied him for a moment, before I gasped, leaning closer. "You're the Golden Boy!! I remember you!"

He blushed embarrassedly at that, "Don't—don't call me that! I'm not!" I giggled, nudging his shoulder slightly. "Sure you aren't!"

"I'm not!" He protested, though there was a glimmer of fun around him. I smiled, tilting my head. "Fineee, if that's not your name then.. What is? I'm [Name]!"

He grinned, "I'm Jason"

Leo and I sat on the roof for a while, just watching the shooting stars. A comfortable silence had settled between us, yet beneath the surface, tension simmered.

"You know, for someone who claims to dislike me, you don't seem to mind spending time with me," Leo remarked, breaking the silence.

I scoffed, not looking at him. "Just because I tolerate your presence doesn't mean I like you."

Leo chuckled, leaning back on his hands. "Sure, sure. But I think deep down, you kind of enjoy our little banter."
