King

This day just never seems to end.
Not only did I have a headache because of the hangover, but I also had to worry about Alice and Duke. The two of them had contacted us when they were finished with Tom and said they were going back home, so Wrath and I had been waiting for them to return for hours. Father and mother were at home; they knew it would be late, and I wanted to call them as soon as they arrived, but it was really late now.
I was sitting with Wrath in front of their house, and we were drinking beer on the wooden steps of the porch when we heard screaming. A huge bang was heard, and a pickup truck sped past us and stopped not far from us with screeching tires. I looked at the gate behind us and saw that it had been breached, and the men were running in our direction.

I instinctively grabbed my Glock and pointed it at the car, and Wrath followed my movements. When the dust settled, I saw Ace holding his gun to the forehead of a man who was holding his hands up. When the driver got out, I was expecting anything with the way he was driving, but not a young woman. She also held her hands up and looked at the man who was threatened by Ace. "Are you crazy? What the hell are you thinking driving into like that, you stupid bitch!" I shouted angrily and turned her toward me.
Her face showed no fear, and her eyebrows furrowed before I felt her small fist in my face. She was a petite woman but the blow was not expected. I stumbled over my legs and onto the floor where I remained sitting on my butt.
"Guns down now!! She saved Alice!" I heard Duke shout, and our men around her put their weapons down when they heard Duke.
I looked at the woman again; her face was pale and her olive green eyes were looking at me. Her long black hair was braided, and the braid hung over one of her shoulders while her hands were in the air. I looked at her palms, which were covered in blood, and looked back at her eyes. The man Ace had just threatened stood next to her and handed her a cigarette, which she took and lit as I got up from the floor.

"I need a damn drink," I heard her say as she walked past me toward the bar. My men watched her go, and I sent Ace to keep an eye on her. Wrath knelt next to Alice, who was being examined by Doc and who asked us to take her to his house where he had a small clinic. I took Alice and carried her to the house and looked into her pale face that was smeared with blood. Her eyes were closed, and I was worried. Wrath and I waited outside the door, and after a while, Doc came out and calmed us down.
"She'll be fine. Just a laceration on her head. I have to do a few more tests, but she definitely has a concussion," Doc said as he led Wrath toward her.
I looked at my sister, who was lying in her sick bed sleeping, and Wrath, who was sitting next to her in fear.

She saved Alice! I remembered Duke's words and left the house to find out what was going on. Duke sat with the Strange Man on the steps in front of the bar, and the two drank what appeared to be whiskey.
"That was a hell of a move on your part, Bane," Duke said to the man.
"This is a part of our life, brother," said the man, smiling.
He looked up at me and stood up as he gave me his hand. I saw the V.P Bane patch.
"I'm Bane," he said kindly.
"King," I answered briefly and looked at Duke.
"What the hell happened?" I asked my brother.
"A truck driver seemed to have fallen asleep behind the wheel and came toward us. Alice swerved, but she lost control of the car. We almost fell off the old rock pit. They saved us," Duke said, holding his head.
"You should let Doc see this," I heard Bane say.
"If I didn't die on this ride, the scratch won't kill me. This woman can drive," Duke said, laughing, and Bane shook his head.
"I taught her to drive when she was little. I never thought I'd nearly shit my pants because of it," Bane said, and we all laughed.
"Listen, King, we're just passing through. We don't want any trouble, and we don't mean anything bad. We just happened to be behind them when this happened, and the gate was retracted because Duke said so," I heard Bane explain.
"It's all good. I didn't know. I'm sorry you were threatened like that. But a club is a club," I said, to which he just nodded.
I knew he understood; he's a biker himself, and we were good.

Father came running to me, while Mother was already running into Doc's house.
"What the hell happened?" he asked as he looked at us in shock.
I explained to him what I knew, and he happily thanked Bane with a firm handshake that his children were ok.
"Where is she?" Dad asked as he asked about the driver that everyone was now talking about. "Inside with Ace," I said as I pointed to the bar.
Dad went in, and we followed him, where the woman was sitting at a table with Ace, and they were talking. She looked at father, and her eyes fell on his patch before she gave him her hand. Her hand had now been washed, but I could clearly see that she was shaking. The adrenaline seems to have passed, and reality now strikes. When father introduced himself, he took her in his arms and hugged her out of gratitude.
"Thanks, Ivy," I heard him say as he looked at her and asked her to sit down.

After a bit of talking, we found out that they were from Canada and had some club business here. Father kept looking from her to Bane and his patch, he seemed to be in thought.
"You're not Pete Baker's daughter?" Father asked as he looked her over.
Her eyes seemed frightened as she looked from dad to Bane, who was looking at my father seriously.
"You're Pete and Mary's kid?" He asked again as she looked at him even more confused.
"I will be damned!" Dad said, pulling his phone out of his pocket.
He pressed a few keys and held the phone to his ear while looking at Ivy, who looked pale.
"Hey, Pete, it's John James...I got your kid," I heard father say, and the mood seemed tense.
Bane shifted uncomfortably in his chair, and Ivy looked at us with her hand on the knife in her belt pouch. If it turns out that they are enemies, the two have no chance.
"Yes, she is," father spoke while still looking at her. "Sure," Dad said, handing the phone to Ivy, who took it and held it to her ear.
"I'm fine, Dad," I heard her say quietly as she looked at the table with a very uncomfortable expression on her face. She listened carefully and looked from Dad to Bane, who was still sitting tensely.
"Dad says this is J.J., the one who punched Snake," she said, and we looked at Bane, whose face relaxed, and he looked at father with a smile.
She handed the phone back to Dad, and he started laughing and talking to the man who was Ivy's father like they had known each other forever. He left the bar and was standing in front of the door as we turned and waited for an explanation.

"For a second, I thought we were up to our necks in shit," Bane said, laughing as he took a sip of his drink.
Duke and Ace looked at each other, and my gaze went from Ivy to Bane.
"They know each other?" Duke asked, and Bane nodded, laughing.
"He met him at one of the biker meetings many years ago, as John was still the President. I only know him from what your father said. The two of them probably got along well because your father comes from California. Long story short, the biker community is small, and everyone knows everyone here. They kept in contact but just haven't seen each other for a long time since... well, your mother died," Bane explained, looking at Ivy, and I followed his gaze.
"I don't know J.J.; I was drunk and balls deep... I had my hands busy," Bane said, laughing, and I knew what he meant.

Father opened the bar door and called me and Bane out, and we stepped outside the bar, where father put his phone on speaker. The man introduced himself to me, and we had a quick little polite conversation before he got serious and said, "I've already told John a few things. I think from what I've heard, we can help each other."
I looked at father, who nodded at me, and I trusted my father, so Pete was safe.
"He can explain everything to you, and we stay in touch. When the time comes, we will be by your side. He told me that he can help me," I heard Pete say.
Bane asked his president something, and I handed him the phone and looked at father.
"You should call to church," Dad said, and I knew then it was serious.
I went into the bar and called out, "Church," and Duke and Ace got up from the table to call all the members who needed to be present at our club meeting.
I looked at Ivy, confused, as I walked into the basement of the bar where the meetings take place. It looks like I can't get rid of them yet.
