I didn't know I could lie so well. When Dad asked me what I was going to do here, the idea for the gym came spontaneously, but it seemed enough that Dad seemed convinced.
At home, I often went to the gym; it was part of my boring life and I trained in different types of fighting for a long time. Father knew this and didn't ask too much about it, and I was grateful. John and Duke just looked at me as I told the story, and Alice grinned, proud of me for not revealing anything about it.
“You two really seem to be in love,” Aunt Jane said when we later returned to Doc with Alice.
“We are,” I replied, smiling.
That wasn't a lie...it was the truth. I loved Aidan and all the romantic movies I had once laughed at now made sense to me.
“I will be soon here for you,” Doc called to Jane from the girls' room. Aunt Jane opened the door and looked at the flailing girl.
“Honey...let them help, they are good people. Do you remember me?” Aunt Jane asked the young woman. She calmed down a bit and looked at Aunt Jane. "It's Jane," she told her, and the girl looked from her to Doc and then to Evelyn.
"They saved us from those men and want to protect us, darling." She added, and the young woman looked from her to Doc and Evelyn again. "You're safe here, no one will be able to harm you anymore, I promise," Evelyn said, and the girl looked at her with furrowed eyebrows.
“This is my niece Ivy, she will stay here too. Please let them help you,” Aunt Jane said as she pulled me into the room. The girl's eyes studied me, and she looked from Jane to me. She leaned back and held out her hand to Doc who wanted to take her blood and didn't get around to it. Doc and Evelyn looked at us, and I saw gratitude in their eyes. Aunt Jane stayed until Doc was finished and then sat at the girl's bed.
“There are two kinds of pain, my darling. The one that breaks you... and the other that makes you stronger. Don't let it destroy you," she told her, and the girl looked at her. Doc called Aunt Jane into the other treatment room, and I was still standing with the girl.
“Don’t be afraid of us. My boyfriend and his people didn't release you to hurt you. We will protect you.” I said to her. “The one with the blue eyes?” she asked, and Evelyn and I looked at her when we heard her voice calm for the first time.
“No, that’s Ace, his brother,” I said.
She leaned her head back and closed her eyes.
"The clinic is not exactly a quiet place, and I can see that you don't feel comfortable here...I would like to take you into your house in a few days. You can decide who comes in, and only you have the key to the door," said Evelyn to her, and she looked up at her. "Maybe I'll play you some music on the radio so you don't have to listen to Doc's talk until then," Evelyn said with a smile.
"I haven't heard any music for a long time," said the girl, and I couldn't breathe. Poor woman.
When Aunt Jane was finished, she came back to us with Alice, and we stayed with the woman for a while. She seemed a little more relaxed with all the women around her, and when she fell asleep, we left again. Father was out with Bane and Aidan all day; he showed Dad his community, and John enjoyed Father's presence. In the evening, they made a grill, and we all sat together. Duke and John turned the meat and argued about what was done and what still needed to be fried, and then Bane and Duke were busy testing their knife skills. Father sat down next to me, and I smiled at him.
"Are you sure about your decision?" he asked me.
"I'm sure Dad. Just as you once left California for Mom...I'm returning now for Aidan," I said, and he laughed.
"You can always call me and you always have a room in my house," said Dad to me, and I grinned.
"I know dad," I said as he hugged me and I looked at Aidan who was talking to Aunt Jane and smiled at me.
"I am in love...I want this. Please understand," I told Dad, and he nodded.
Aidan called me to the side, and I realized he wanted to talk, so I followed him.
"I'm sorry you can't go home with them. But it's dangerous now, and John and Alice have explained everything to you as far as I know," Aidan said, looking at me as we stood off to the side.
"I know what lockdown is, and it's ok...I just wanted you and Lilly to get to know each other," I said.
Lilly was my fraternal twin, and I was particularly attached to her, but I understood everything. It had to wait. "Then call her," Aidan said, and I laughed.
Well, I had no other choice, so I got my phone and started a video call. When Lilly answered the phone, she looked from me to Aidan and raised her eyebrows questioningly.
"She kinda looks like you...but kinda not," Aidan said, and Lilly laughed.
"That's because we didn't have the same bubble in mother's tummy," Lilly said teasingly, and we laughed.
I introduced Aidan to her and explained to her that I wouldn't be coming home because I was opening a gym here and would be moving in with Aidan. She didn't believe a word I said because she knew me, but didn't ask anything in front of him, and I changed the subject to Aunt Jane. After we had talked, she wanted to see Aunt Jane, and of course, she was happy when she saw Lilly. Later, Lilly also added our older sister Beth, who was also inaugurated. Beth was just happy that I chose a biker, to which Lilly just rolled her eyes and said, "I'll never marry a biker."
We laughed because all her friends were definitely not bikers and she hadn't wanted to live in the Mc for a long time. Dad, Aunt Jane, and Bane stayed with John and Evelyn to sleep. And that was the first evening that Bane probably wasn't drunk in the bar. Aidan and I lay on our mattress, and he took me in his arms.
"Are you sad that you're leaving everything for us?" he asked as I seemed to be thinking.
"No...I was just wondering if we also ordered ceiling lights," I replied, and he laughed loudly.
We talked about the day until the tiredness caught up with me, and I fell asleep.

The next morning, we stood at the car that Bane and I had driven over, and they loaded their things. I watched everyone say goodbye to each other and hugged Aunt Jane. "We're coming to Canada in a few weeks to get my things," I said to her.
"See you soon," she said. "Don't worry about me. Bane will take care of me," she added.
"Are you sure you don't want to take the plane home?" I asked, and Dad explained that the trip would be good for them and they needed to talk. I looked at Aunt Jane and Bane, who were smiling, and I saw his hand on her back. She winked at me, and I smiled as they got in and drove off. I knew Dad was looking in the rearview mirror as he drove toward the gate, so I waved until they left. When I turned around, Aidan wanted to catch the laughing Duke, but I stopped him, and when Void came, I knew something was wrong. The man rarely left the house and only when there was something important.
"Tom wants to talk to you, I have a secure line," he said as he went back towards the house, and Aidan and John followed him.
Evelyn went to the clinic, and Alice said she wanted to spend the day with Drew when she got home from school. When Aidan Church called, I accompanied Alice to pick up Drew, and when we came back, the men were still in the basement, and we sat down next to one table of the bar. The prospect who was behind the counter brought our drinks, and we talked until we heard the men stomping up again. Aidan sat down next to us, and Wrath followed him when he saw us.
"What kind of things did you order?" Alice asked me.
"Just about everything. The house is pretty empty, so we needed everything," I answered.
"We?" she asked smiling.
"Well, Aidan moves in with me...or I move in with him," I said laughing and looked at King. He just beamed and pulled my chair closer just to kiss me.
"I'm going to throw up," Duke said as he walked past us, and Alice laughed.
"We're in lockdown, what do we do with the things we ordered?" I asked Aidan.
"The guys at the gate will know, and they'll take over," he replied with a smile.
His eyes looked at the clinic, and we followed his gaze. Ace came out of the clinic and carried the woman towards the safe house, and Evelyn followed them.
"Is she ready?" Alice asked, looking questioningly at King. "Mom said she was...so Ace went to bring her over," Aidan replied.
"She sees him as her savior," I said, and everyone looked at me.
"As you were mine," said Alice. "Maybe he'll be able to get through to her," she added.
"Maybe," Aidan said and hugged me. "I'm proud of you for how you took all of this," he said to me, and I smiled at him. I love him, and this life is what I chose. I wouldn't do it any other way even if I knew everything in advance.
"You excuse us, but I have to show my girl how sturdy the mattress we have is," Aidan said as he lifted me up in his arms and headed towards the house.
"What does he mean by that?" I heard Drew ask, and Wrath laughed as Alice stuttered to make up an answer. Aidan laughed loudly as we went to our home, and I couldn't help but laugh either. Everything was fine, and I was happy. He made me happy.
