Ivy

He must be kidding me! I waited for days for him to come back and the first thing that happens when he does is this rotter that threatens me. "Stay away from my man," she screamed in my face. Really?!
I was angry and stomped down the street to Evelyn and John's house after the embarrassment on the street. I remember Alice and Erin spending time with me as we waited for King to return. I was sure this was very important because they were away for a long time, which is why he didn't come to me even though he said so. I hoped he would find something about Aunt Jane, so I waited.
"King called me and asked me to make you a bracelet while you were away," Erin told me at the time. "That means something only the old ladies and important females of the MC wear these," she said.
Erin and her husband were both hackers, and GPS surveillance seemed like a logical solution for the women's safety.
"He was next to you in Doc's clinic for two days," Alice told me once.
And both told me that this wasn't typical of King. Even when I mentioned the red-headed woman, they both laughed and shrugged it off.
"She's just a rotter. A club whore and nothing more. King got no girl," Alice said.

When I saw him again for the first time after four days, I was standing with Duke and Alice, talking to two members who seemed nice. As soon as I heard the motorcycles driving into the street, nothing was more interesting than King. Not Storm's ego talk and not the tattoo of Ink as he showed me. I turned to King, who just looked at us and ran towards the bar where the redhead was already waiting for him. Of course, he goes to his girlfriend first. She started screaming at him, and I watched her as King looked at me over her shoulder and she turned to me. The woman stormed towards me, her clothes clearly undersized and her heels way too high. When she poisonously yelled at me, I only saw black and reacted with emotion. What is she thinking, talking to me like this?
From everything I heard from Alice and Erin, I thought King liked me, but everything he showed me was the opposite.

I ran up the stairs when I arrived at Evelyn's house and went into the room where I stayed. I heard footsteps behind me and just hoped it wasn't King. After knocking, Alice came into the room followed by a laughing Duke.
"That was some crazy Chuck Norris-like stuff from you," he said as he threw himself onto the bed, laughing.
I paced around the room, and Alice followed me with just her eyes.
"Did they find out anything about Jane?" I asked Duke, and he got up from the bed and picked up his phone.
I heard him talking to King outside the door and exhaled. Alice was still looking at me, and I thought to myself, just don't tell me anything more about him.
"Do you know what helps me when I'm stressed?" She asked me, and I stopped and looked at her with furrowed eyebrows. "A ride on the bike," she said, smiling.
She was so right about it. At home, I drove for hours every day when I was stressed, sad, or just needed to be alone.
"Sorry, but they don't have anything," Duke said as he came back in.
I looked from him to Alice and nodded at her. "Let's go for a ride."

I stayed to change when Alice and Duke got their motorcycles. Duke picked me up because he didn't want me to ride alone.
"You still have a head injury, so you're my backpack today," he said as he arrived and threw the helmet into my arms.
I had no problem riding with Duke; he became a friend. He was only a few years older than me. At 30, he looked very young, which was probably because he didn't have a full beard. But the stubble suited him, and he had those brown eyes, just like Alice and King.
"I only like blonde girls, so don't get your hopes up," he said teasingly as we sat together one evening drinking beer with Alice.
He never hit on me, and all he did was make me laugh, and I felt accepted. I liked Duke; he was a brother, a real friend.
"Come on, Chuck Norris, get your ass on my baby," Duke said proudly as he pointed to his Harley. He loved the bike; you could see that the machine was in top condition, which you couldn't say about my motorcycle. It's not that I didn't love mine; I just drove way too recklessly.

The feeling as he drove off brought my unrest under control. Only the noise of the engine and the shaking of the machine beneath me did me any good. Duke slowed down a little and pulled me closer to him as he looked at me.
"Come on, Chucky, we have to put on a show," he said laughing, and I put my arms around him. He drove past the bar, revving his bike as we passed Alice. She rode behind us with all the members looking at us, including King.
I felt Duke's laugh as my hands hugged him, and I had to laugh myself; he was too funny.
We drove around for a while, and I enjoyed the view and the wind that cooled us down. Duke didn't drive very fast for fear I would fall off because I had brain damage, as he said.
After a while, we stopped at a steakhouse, and Alice jumped out of luck when Duke said we were going to eat something.
"I'm damn hungry!" She said and sat down at one of the wooden tables, and we followed her.
"I really like you two. I didn't have that much time to get to know your brother Ace, but I'm sure he's like you too," I said as we waited for our food.
"Ace was adopted by Mom and Dad when he was little. His parents died, and he's lived with us ever since. He's a brother even though we don't have the same blood. You can only see it in his eyes. We all have brown eyes, only he has these sky blue ones," Alice explained.
"Yup, the orphan is our brother," Duke said laughing.

I remembered Duke calling him an orphan, and Ace laughing at that. I thought it was just fun at the time, but now I thought about Duke's dark sense of humor.
"You're terrible," I said to Duke, who knew what I was referring to, and he laughed.
"Ace doesn't remember his parents. He is loved by all of us; we are his family. He told me that Evelyn and John found me in the trash can when we were little... Come on," he said and laughed.
I understood that this was the internal joke between them and just shook my head.
"So you and King?" He asked curiously as he cut his steak that was brought to us.
"Nope...I just thought..." I said, and he interrupted me. "You already know that the two of us are Team Avy," he said, laughing.
"Team Avy?" I asked.
"Aidan and Ivy...you and King girl," he said laughing.
"His name is Aidan?" I asked interestedly.
"Yeah...she's not interested in King at all," Alice said laughing, and I just rolled my eyes and laughed.
"I got myself into something," I said thoughtfully.
"From what I've seen and heard from Alice and you, I don't think Alice is wrong. We know him better than you do, and he's never been in a serious relationship. Or been as interested in anyone as he is in you. ...he sat by your bed and even ignored the Rotter. Believe me, he has a huge crush on you," Duke said, shaking his head with a laugh.
"I just don't know why he doesn't tell you anything. He's not shy," Alice added.
"He's just stupid as fuck," I heard Duke say, and all three of us laughed.

I really had fun with those two, and they helped me feel better. When we got back, it was already dark, and when Duke stopped in front of the bar, Bane was sitting in front of it with Ace.
"Did you have fun, kid?" Bane asked, smiling.
I immediately felt bad when he said that and thought of Aunt Jane, and my smile disappeared. "Don't feel bad, Ivy, we can only wait," Bane said, smiling encouragingly at me.
He was right, but I still felt bad. I don't deserve to be happy while Aunt Jane probably... I don't even want to think about.

I said goodnight to them all and went to Evelyn and John's to go to sleep. I saw that the light was still on and knocked before I entered. Evelyn and John were sitting in front of the TV and greeted me when I came into the living room.
" We need to talk!" I heard King from the side, sitting on the couch.
"Something new from Aunt Jane?" I asked him, and he shook his head. "Then we have nothing to talk about," I said and wished Evelyn and John a good night.
They both looked from me to King, and John laughed quietly.
"Ivy, wait." King said as he got up from the couch and went after me.
"Listen, Aidan, I don't have time for this crap," I said as he turned me to face him in front of the stairs.
He looked at me, studied my face, and a smile appeared on his face before he grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder.
"Put me down! Now!" I shouted, hitting him on the back with my hands.
"Nope!" was all he said before he left the house, and I saw John at the door.
"These Kids!" He said laughing before closing the door.
King let me down in front of his motorcycle, and I tried to slap him, but he caught my hand in flight and pulled me towards him.
"You're driving me crazy," he said to me before grabbing my face and pressing his lips to mine. Jesus Christ!
