I don't know which was worse: Ivy lying there bleeding or Bane running around the room in a panic as Doc and mom brought her into the treatment room.
"What happened?" he asked me.
"Ivy heard when Alice told me that Tom... well, a body was found. It could be Jane," I said to Bane who stopped and stared at me.
"Jane?" Alice asked, confused. "No, the woman's name is not Jane. Her name is Margareth, and she is 29 years old," Alice added as she turned her laptop towards us. Bane and I read what she was pointing to and both exhaled. It was not Jane; she was older than 29 and definitely not a Margareth.

When Doc came back to us after a while, he said, "I stitched up the wound, but she is very weak. Not because of the fall; her body is exhausted."
"No wonder she ate nothing but apples in that car for days while we tailed that guy. She didn't even touch the food I bought. She just stared at the building," Bane said, and Doc nodded.
"I'll give her a drip to make her feel better, but she'll probably be a little off," Doc said and went back into her room.
Mom was very worried and sad when she came out, and Dad took her home.
"I need a drink," Bane said and went out of the small clinic towards the bar.
I watched him through the window and remembered Ivy and our first meeting when she said the same thing. I stayed in the clinic and waited for Doc to tell me something. "You like this woman," Alice said, laughing and looking at me with her brown eyes.
"No," I answered, which didn't sound convincing to her. "It's clear you weren't with me for hours yesterday when I almost died... but you've been standing here for a long time because of someone you don't like," she said teasingly.
"Shut up, Alice," I replied, and she started laughing loudly. Doc came to us later to tell Alice she could go home and that he had called Wrath to pick her up.
"Great... can I go to Ivy for a moment?" she asked Doc, who wanted to go to his apartment above the clinic to wash himself.
"Sure," he replied, and I heard him running up the stairs. "Are you coming?" Alice asked with a grin as she looked at me, and I just followed her without saying anything.

It's not the first time I've seen someone lying like this here with Doc, but when I saw Ivy, I felt bad. Alice sat on the chair next to her bed, and I stood behind her.
"She'll be okay," Alice simply said without any insinuating comments.
When Wrath picked her up with Drew and the little girl saw her like that, she was very sad. Alice explained to her that she fell and would get better, whereupon she promised to paint a picture for her like she painted one for Alice, which meant that her mother got better faster. She was sweet and innocent and thought that love healed everything.

Later, Duke came by, and I asked him to take over the position for me, to which he gave me the same look as Alice. Give me a break. I do not know what's going on. I just have to be with her.
I just sat there and stared at her for a while. I brushed aside the strand of hair that was clinging to her face and touched her cheek. Her skin was so soft, and her pale face turned toward my hand while she was still asleep.
She was so beautiful. I came and went to the clinic the next day, too, and when Alice visited with Drew, who had painted a picture, I went to the bar to avoid her comments. Drew wanted to bring her the picture before school, and Alice said she would stay with her for a while, so I went to Bane. He was sitting at the counter with Ace and Duke, and they were talking about Ivy, which caught my attention. "How is she doing?" Bane asked as I sat down next to her. "She's still sleeping," I answered him as I sat down next to him.
“Don’t hurt her... She's not some rotter from your bar. Okay? We are here for Jane, and you gave me a promise," Bane said, looking at me.
I knew what he meant and nodded.
“I never intended to,” I replied. He just nodded and looked ahead as Doc entered the bar.
"She's awake, Bane," he said, laughing.
The old man immediately got up and ran to the clinic, and I followed him slowly. I could already hear her voice from the door, talking to Bane and Alice. I was just outside the door, debating whether I should go in, when I heard Doc behind me forcing myself to knock. Her eyes shot to me, and I just looked at her.
The “Hi” I said to her sounded even stranger than I intended, but she smiled at me and replied.

When we were alone, I just looked at her, her beautiful doe eyes looking at me softened me, and I took her hand in mine. She didn't complain; she didn't mind me touching her as I stroked her hand with my thumb. I wanted to tell her that I was sorry that this misunderstanding had hurt her, but I just stared at her beautiful eyes and full reddish lips. She seemed to notice this because even when Duke came in and talked, she was still watching me. After the short conversation with her father and Duke's statement that mom was coming over, I knew that we wouldn't be alone anymore, so I told her I would come over later. And that's what I wanted... I stood in front of the clinic and thought about what I should say to her.

I was at her bedside for two days and just looked at her when she was sleeping. Like a creep. I didn't want to overwhelm her in the situation she was in. I promised to find her aunt and not to hit on her. And Bane made that clear. So I buried myself in work and looked after the repaired gate and other tasks I had in the community as president. I saw mom, Alice, and Erin coming and going, and they always laughed when they were with her so she will be fine. Void and Alice had received a few important tips from Tom, which I followed up with Ace and Gears, my road captain, but even on the way, I heard about Ivy. Gears had repaired her car and complained about how someone could wreck a car like that. Of course he exaggerated; their car wasn't junk, but Gears loved cars almost like bikes, and this was the reason for his reaction.

With the new information we had from Pete, Tom was able to follow the kidnapper through surveillance cameras. Ivy gave us a good description of the intersection that she took a wrong turn, and I knew where it was, so Void took over with Tom's people and tracked him. Part of it, however, they couldn't see the route as there was nothing there and no cameras, so Tom sent us to see what was there. We traveled around for three days just to find nothing, and when we came back, I saw Ivy as soon as I parked my bike in front of the bar.

She gave me a look and turned back to Duke and Alice and continued talking. She still had a bandage on her head but looked fine. Storm and Ink were also standing with them, and Ink showed her some tattoos on his arm. The boy was significantly younger than us, and I didn't feel anything other than friendly towards him. Storm was a handsome heartthrob, and I glanced at him as I took off my helmet. He was of Swedish heritage, and his long blonde hair was tied up in a man bun. He laughed with Ivy and towered in front of her with his 6 feet muscles showing off. I just rolled my eyes and walked towards the bar. Candy was waiting for me at the door and wanted to confront me because I had been ignoring her for days.
"Not now, Candy," I just said angrily and wanted to go into the bar, but she grabbed my arm and started talking.

My eyes shot over Candy's shoulder to Ivy, who turned to us because Candy was obviously too loud, and that didn't go unnoticed. Candy followed my gaze to Ivy and stormed in her direction. What the hell?
I watched as she grabbed Ivy by the arm and turned to her, only to scream in her face and shove her. I ran towards them and was about to separate them when Ivy kicked her hard in the side, forcing Candy to her knees as she turned around. Ivy reached for her knife and held it under Candy's throat, who began to scream. Everyone standing nearby turned to them, and even the men from the bar came out and watched.
"I don't want your fucking man! If you touch me again, I'll rip your head off!" Ivy screamed at her and pushed her to the ground with her foot.
I just stared at her while Candy got up from the floor and walked towards the bar crying.
"This is far from over!" Candy called out to her as Ivy showed her the middle finger.
"Meoooow!" I heard Duke yelp as he watched, laughing.
Ivy just walked past me, and I looked from her to Alice, who was giving me a dirty look with her hands on her hips. "Control your bitches!" Alice said angrily as she went after Ivy.
I just watched her go while Duke was still standing there laughing.
"That was some crazy shit," I heard Storm say as he stood next to me and watched them.
"That was really messed up," I heard Ink say as Storm patted him on the back, and they headed towards the tattoo shop.
"What did I do? I didn't do anything!" I asked, confused. "That's the problem, brother," Duke said and walked in the direction where Alice and Ivy went.
