margo was currently stood in the byres bathroom, she gripped both sides of the sink looking into the mirror. she sighed and turned on the tap, washing her face. she grabbed a clean towel from the small cupboard and dried her face. she stopped as she heard a knock on the door and then a voice.
"hey, its steve. can i come in?" the voice asked. margo sighed and put the towel in her hand down before walking over to the door. she opened it and saw steve standing there with a light smile. she smiled back and stepped out the way so he could come in. she left the door open and walked back to the sink.
steve sat down on the closed toilet seat and watched as margo began reapplying her mascara. the two sat in a comfortable silence, she took a deep breath in as she finished up and looked to steve as he began to speak. "you okay?"
"yeah, i think so. i think i just overreacted a little." she confessed.
"no, no. of course you didn't, you have been scared these past few days, and to be honest i have been terrified. you're dad spoke to me-"
"oh God, what did he say?" she rolled her eyes sarcastically.
"nothing, he said thank you, for looking after you. but i told him you mostly looked after me." steve chuckled and margo joined in. "and he also said thank you for dropping you off on halloween night."
margo's eyes widened. "i knew he'd know it was you." she shook her head with a grin. "are you okay though?"
"yeah, yeah im alright. as long as you are then im fine." he smiled as he stood up from his seat. "can i actually give you a hug this time?"
margo laughed and wrapped her arms around his torso. steve copied her actions, his arms around her neck. margo sighed into his chest due to their height difference, she hadn't really been properly hugged by anyone else apart from her family. probably because she wasn't a big fan of hugs, but for some reason steves arms felt right.
the hug lasted a little too long that if a stranger saw they'd believe the two were a couple, but this didn't bother either of them. their minds too focused on what was going on in hawkins, but also each other.
they stood in comfort silence oblivious to the figure stood down the hall watching the interaction.
they finally broke apart and the air became slightly awkward. "we should see whats going on." margo said.
"uh, yeah, yeah." steve nodded following her out the bathroom.
"i am the police! cheif jim hopper!" hopper spoke down the phone, slamming it back into the wall. you could definitely tell he's margo's dad. the pair walked into the kitchen and leant against the counter next to each other, very little space between them.
"they didn't believe you, did they?" dustin asked.
"we'll see." hopper replied.
" 'we'll see'? we cant just sit here while those things are loose." mike stated.
