I won't be disrespectful and question that lady or her son.

And despite keeping it to myself, he looked like he didn't believe me when I told him that I was okay.

Bestie got her wish, she was blessed with a healthy baby boy and they named him Ehuan Amani Walter.

We got the same middle name and it's all because I made Emryn happy throughout her entire pregnancy.

Throughout her contraction that started the next morning, I was at work and had the phone to my ears. Telling her jokes and drama that kept her happy and a little distracted.

While she's out of the salon, her brother has been stopping by but there's just one problem. He has always been a bother to me.

He's worse than Reggie.

Tyrell never stops talking and for a grown man, I wonder if his girlfriend isn't tired of him.

"You're like a snake under grass."

"Seems like you swallowed a whole radio." I insulted him over my client's head.

"You need a man to go home to every night." He grins.

"My man will come home to me instead. You don't know me, Radio." I rolled my eyes.

"I've been here for like, over a month. All you do is giggle over the phone and say you missed somebody." He revealed and my eyes widened when the other stylist hummed in agreement.

I know we talk about everything and is close, but I don't feel my business shouldn't be out there. Even when I know they care.

Care enough to get me off the streets.

"Y'all just inquisitive." I laughed.

"No, we just worried boo." Vicki the gayest of gays spoke up. "We were close before you went on ya lil' vacation. Now you silent fo'real."

He's over there installing a wig on a drag queen for their little show tonight.

All I know about that was watching short clips of the RuPaul drag race.

"What's going on, Rae?" Tammy asked.

"Is it Blake?"

I looked over at Steff who looked at me.

"Naw, both y'all keeping secrets." Vicki pointed out. "I saw that."

"Blake left me alone at the airport in Colorado to travel in all the snow up to the mountains," I revealed, reaching for more hair.

The salon was filled with shock that even my regular whose hair I was doing turned to me.

"Mah cousin went out there with her man to ride the slopes, they barely could with all that storm. But alone!" A waiting client spoke from the sitting area.

"Y'all, my baby is from the white sand beaches, Dancehall ass shaking, reggae jammies, bamboo rafting, jerk chicken place in the Caribbean. She ain't never witnessed snowing until then. I'm mad." Tiffany's example made me smile.

"What happened, lil' boo?" Vicki paused his job to fold his arms.

"Our driver took me up there and like two hours in with me shivering like crazy, the power went out."

Again chaos.

"Y'all, let her talk." Steff laughs.

Vicki and the rest gave her the stink eye because she knew. Or they think she does.

"My phone battery was under thirty, I had to learn how to start a fire but I did. Your girl had some experience from when I was back home roasting breadfruit. I was searching around for the generator and it came on like a few minutes after the power went out. I lost phone signal and I was cold down to my cunt."
