"dally!" he cheered, getting up in excitement he soon saw you. "oh you're the girl from that night right?"
"yeah..." you awkwardly laughed. "it's y/n"
"ponyboy curtis" he answered, looking up at dallas
"hey pony, stop it with the questions." he gave a poker face. "johnnycake gotta cancer stick? she threw my last back through the window"
"because you already had smoke a back!" you exclaimed, kicking a piece a wood aside
"pony i have a letter for you" he handed the letter sodapop has given him a few days prior, that felt like ages ago

"the president of united states, it's from your brother" dally just rolled his eyes, glancing over at johnny
you three remained in silence, until ponyboy finished reading his letter over and over again
"i'm starving" dally interrupted, ponyboy soon looked up
"you? starving!" johnny scoffed, knowing he hadn't had a good meal in a while
"there's a dairy queen near by" dally answered
the boys ignored dally's comment and flooded him with questions
"take it easy, one at a time" dally Ana's we're in a raspy voice
"h-how did soda know?" pony was confused and stunned
"we stopped by your house, darry is awful worried" dallas explained. "i told them if the cops get involved to say you guys went to texas"
"so dally..." johnny begun. "why is she still here?"

"johnny i'm with him because i got dragged in" you explained, crossing your arms
"let's head out" dally took the keys from you. he jumped out of the window you two entered from and waited
as you three got out, ponyboy stayed close beside dally walking to his car, while you and johnny were in the back
"you know dallas really cares for you" you begun. "he would talk about you for endless nights. your like a brother to him"
"i looked up to dallas" johnny shrugged. "i just want to make him proud"
"it's so beautiful here" you looked around, admiring the sky
johnny laughed. "there was such a golden sunrise the other day, ponyboy told me a whole poem about it"
you just smiled, not having words to speak
"johnny you in the front" dally pointed at johnny, you and ponyboy listen and say in the back
as dally recklessly drive, ponyboy looked over at you
"so are you dating dally?" pony asked in a low tone, not wanting dally to interfere
"i actually don't know" you looked down. "he seems to really care for you guys"
"dally?" ponyboy was in shocked by what you were saying. "he's a greaser, we don't express emotions"

as silence was among you two. your words trembled. "your brothers, soda and..."
"...darry" ponyboy just scoffed
"they seem to care for you. i talked to soda before coming here and i could tell how worried he was in his tone"
"yeah! but that's soda" ponyboy rolled his eyes. "darry doesn't give a damn"
"darry was yelling at dally for sending you here" you explained. "words can't explain how tense he was"
"mhm" ponyboy just mumbled, wanting the end of this conversation

you four were in the dairy queen , you went to take a phone call but the three just sat at the booth
"dal" johnny started. "you like her huh?"
"i dunno johnny" dally shrugged, but he knew he had strong feelings for you
pony just laughed. "seems like you do"
"i gotta look out for you two then i can think about love" dally explained, taking off his jean jacket. he left himself just in a tee
you came back to the table wi tho some good news."i talked to cherry valance, she said she's willing to testify for you boys and how it was bobs fault. you guys were just fighting in self defence. you guys are having it out tomorrow night at the vacant lot or something..."
"she's testifying?" pony raised an eyebrow
"yeah" you slide into the booth seat beside dally. "you guys will be fine now"
"dally" johnny begun. "i want us to turn myself in"
"what?" dally almost choked on his water, staring into johnny's eyes
johnny gulped. "it's not good that darry and soda are worried about pony. did my parents even ask about me"

"no" dally scoffed. "johnny the boys are worried about you! and no! they didn't care one bit" dally pushed. "two-bit was going to go to texas to hunt for you!"
"dal—" you tried to stop him before he could raise his voice higher
"you get hard in jail johnny" dally said, his tenth clenching
"dally let us turn ourselves in" johnny said

"yes, i'm sure" johnny spoke, looking down into the table
"get up" dally moved his hand to signal you to get up, "we're going"

as you four drove back, you were too stunned to speak once you approached the church
"holy shit" dally mumbled under his breath, he couldn't believe his eyes
the church was burning. people were screaming near it and pony ran towards the crowd
pony soon enough jumped into r he fire along with johnny
"hey! where you guys going!" dally cried, bitting his lip nervously
eventually dally ran forward to help the boys, you followed behind

pony soon was dragged out from dally and he collapsed onto the floor as dally slapped his back. you ran straight to ponyboy, making sure he was okay
dally heard johnny scream and jumped in without hesitation. he couldn't loose johnny
the church breaking bit by bit collapsed, with dallas and johnny in it
