Not even being late for work can stop me from getting my coffee.
How else ma go do the work?
I'm sure them prefer me late and awake than early and tired.
I take two small steps forward when the person behind me taps me to move up in the line.
I scroll aimlessly on my phone to pass time.
Once I'm out in any space with people I'll be on the phone whether or not I'm doing anything. Its just less awkward.
Social anxiety maybe.
Just then the door opens and the barista offers the general Starbucks greeting. "Welcome to Starbucks."
I don't know what causes me to turn in that direction but when I do I utter the Jamaican national word.
"Bomboclaat"
I guess I must have said it out loud because the person in front of me turns around "Miss you okay?"
"I'm sorry. Yes I'm okay." I say to the concerned customer.
She turns around and starts minding her own business.
I'm still staring, mouth on the floor.
Prefer mi did go drink red bull.
Wah kinda saltness this.
His eyes somehow find mine. And he lights up instantly.
Why the fuck him still look so good.
Him couldn't look like hard life. Like him wife a stress him.
He notices that I'm still staring and a cocky smile spreads on his lips.

I turn my head to watch the lady infront of me with the pretense of being preoccupied.
"Beg yah skip nuh." He says from behind me.
I push my mouth up and fold my arms across my chest. Neck rolling "Micah excuse."
He chuckles but still steps in front of me.
I'm tempted to step around him but I don't.
He wants a reaction out of me and I won't give him that satisfaction.

Him nah make me embarrass myself.
My private practice is less than a year old, I'm working hard on building my brand.
