Peter and Felicia didn't sleep in, despite having a snow day to stay home on. The school had posted work online for the day. Each class posted an assignment that was way too long. Felicia looked ready to cry. "You'll do all the work for me right Spider?" Felicia smirked. Peter's eyes widened in terror as he was reminded of the first day of school. "Yes, m'am."
Felicia chuckled and walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm joking, Spider. If I make you do the work for both of us, we won't be able to watch TV." Peter sighed in relief. He felt an incredible weight lift off of his shoulders.
Peter did his work on the small table in the kitchen with Felicia. There wasn't much space but they made it work. Peter had seen Felicia space out multiple times in the middle of working. The third time was when he voiced his concerns. "You okay Felicia? You've been spacing out for quite awhile."
Felicia blinked rapidly and looked over to Peter. "Yeah I'm alright." She sounded sad. Peter had never known Felicia to be sad but, being in a new world does that to you. It makes you feel emotions you've never felt before. Peter watched as Felicia slowly stood up and walked to the bathroom.
Peter sat there for a moment before standing up and walking over to the bathroom door. He heard soft sniffles coming from inside the bathroom. "Felicia." She didn't respond. "Felicia, are you okay?" Felicia didn't respond again. "Felicia if you don't respond I'm entering anyway."
Felicia didn't respond for a third time. Peter walked away and grabbed a small knife from the kitchen counter. He pressed the knife into the door handle. Peter played with the knife until it clicked and he opened the door.
Peter opened the door and saw Felicia on the ground in front of the sink. She had her knees up to her chest and her head was hidden in between her knees and chest.
Peter got on his knees and gathered her into his arms. "It's okay baby. It's okay let it out." Felicia bawled her eyes out. It was like she hadn't cried in years. Peter pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and sat with Felicia until she couldn't cry anymore.
Eventually Felicia stopped crying. Peter had no idea how long she had been crying. Felicia hadn't cried in years. Peter had never even seen her so vulnerable. She always put on a tough exterior in front of others and when she was alone. The idea of letting herself feel so small and alone made her sick. Felicia never let herself cry or feel bad for herself.
Everything was too much. From being in a new universe with Peter to meeting Selina Kyle. Selina Wayne. Felicia felt like crying all over again just from thinking of her. Of course her name was different.
Felicia had never met her mother. She died before she could remember her. Lydia Hardy died in childbirth. Something went wrong when Lydia gave birth. She never got to hold Felicia. Lydia died just seconds after giving birth. The loss of her mother always weighed heavy on Felicia. People always talked about how much Felicia looked like her mother. From her green cat-like eyes to her black hair. Felicia had the same face. It was like her father made a clone of her mother.
Felicia always held a deep love for the mother she never had. Felicia blamed herself for Lydia Hardy's death and always thought about how much happier her father would be if Lydia never became pregnant with Felicia. Walter always said that it wasn't Felicia's fault but it never felt true. It felt more like a broken man saying what he didn't believe because it would make his daughter happier. Felicia never felt happier.
Felicia hated how everyone talked about how she was just as beautiful as her mother. She knew she was beautiful and she knew her mother was also a gorgeous woman. That didn't make Felicia feel good though. Her hair was black just like her mother's but Felicia had hair that fell to her shoulders. Lydia had a black pixie cut. Selina Kyle had the same pixie cut. Felicia had taken each compliment with a smile even though it always hurt.
Eventually Felicia grew tired of it all and dyed her hair a pure white. It was the opposite of her mother. Felicia loved her white hair. It made her feel unique and it was nice to be true to herself. Felicia grew her hair out until it reached the middle of her back. Her love for her new hair grew more when she met Peter Parker. The skinny nerd who loved her long white hair.
Peter Parker was the opposite of what Felicia thought she liked in boys. She always thought the buff jocks were her type. Felicia never paid attention to nerds and always thought they were too weird for her to even talk to. Meeting one changed everything though. After she met Peter Parker, she couldn't get enough of nerds. There was something so cute about how nerds would get all nervous and blush when a girl would talk to them.
Felicia always had a crush on Spider-Man. From the moment she saw a video of him she had a crush on him. The young superhero who swung around New York in red and blue spandex was incredibly attractive to Felicia Hardy. The Black Cat tried to get his attention and it worked. Felicia was very happy when he finally caught her in the act of stealing. Sadly he didn't seem to get the hint of her advances. It turns out that wasn't true. Spider-Man was simply as dense as a rock.
Finding out Peter and Spider-Man were the same people rocked Felicia's world. Her two biggest crushes were the same people. If that didn't tell you Felicia Hardy was attracted to Peter Parker then she wouldn't know what to tell you. Nothing hurt more than when she heard about his new girlfriend.
Michelle Jones was not like Felicia Hardy. She wasn't a thief who went out in the middle of the night dressed in latex. She was a nerd like Peter. Michelle was the head of the Midtown decathlon team and was a very smart person. Felicia always saw her drawing or reading. MJ was what her friends called her. As far as Felicia knew, her only real friends were Peter and Ned. Felicia always thought MJ was pretty. You would have to be stupid not to think that. But Felicia thought she could still date Peter without worrying about her. She was wrong.
Felicia tried to not let it all affect her. No matter how hard she tried to talk to Peter, she couldn't do it. All the times she was at his apartment and went out in the city with Peter felt like a lie. Felicia blamed herself for being such a flirt with everyone. Peter probably took her flirting as her joking around and just being herself and not actually trying to flirt with him. Felicia and Peter had started talking less and less.
Felicia was always seen as a popular girl but she wasn't. Felicia couldn't stand the people at Midtown. So many of them were rich kids who were spoiled and were just waiting for their parents to hand them their own business or their high position at some huge corporation. Peter was the only real friend Felicia had. Felicia had people she talked to at school but no real friends.
Felicia's life became a cycle of school, home, and then either partying or going out as Black Cat. She barely slept and when she did it was only for a few hours. Her grades had been dropping, she was getting sick constantly, and she was constantly hungover. Felicia pretended she was okay and that Peter and MJ's relationship didn't affect her so much.
Felicia felt so weak for caring so much about it all. It made her feel like she was some obsessed crazy school girl. But it started to get a little bit better. Felicia went out to parties less and let herself go to bed earlier. Everything was getting better until she saw the video of Mysterio. Peter was innocent and anyone who had ever actually known him would tell you he would never attack civilians.
That didn't stop people who had never met him from believing Mysterio. Felicia felt like shit for ignoring him. He was being accused of the murder of over 100,000 people. And all Felicia did was watch. She watched as he was patted down when he walked into school and was filmed by every kid in the school hallway.
Felicia hid in her room while her friend was more than likely spending the rest of his life in some remote prison with no escape. She hid like a coward while Peter faced his problems head on. Felicia told Peter she was doing homework when they arrived in a new universe. That was such a lie. She was on the verge of tears and cursing herself for being so weak. Her mind wouldn't let her cry. She was not allowed to cry while Peter fought for his life.
Peter announced to the world where he was. He fought a battle against some of his biggest enemies from other universes and she was in her comfortable expensive pillow and silk sheets. Felicia held on to her other pillow and laid on her side. She should've been suited up and fighting with him but instead she was being weak. The next thing she knew her body felt too tired to stay awake. It was sudden but Felicia couldn't fight it.
When Felicia woke up she was in a fake alley with Peter Parker. His suit was damaged and he was hurt. It was so bad. Felicia couldn't be weak again so she helped him. Felicia didn't help many people and no matter how many times Peter said she was a good person, she couldn't believe it.
Felicia pushed through her pain despite everything. She actually was making friends. A dark part of her mind told her that they only talked to her because of Peter. Felicia ignored it. Felicia was also dating Peter officially. They had said it in all but words. It was all great until their new friends looked at Peter like he was a lab rat. Like he was something that needed to be studied and was dangerous.
She noticed it first with Tim. The kid was like Peter but he had a part of him he hid with his cute nerdy personality. Steph disguised it with jokes. Duke pretends he's different from his insane siblings. Damian was the only one who didn't pay attention to Peter. She was thankful for that.
Felicia could deal with it all. She always did. She loved kittens and picked up the small white kitten when she saw it inside a box in a dark alley. The poor thing was crying. It was raining and the kitten was so cold. Felicia made it to the poor animal shelter and thought it was better than nothing.
Everything was great until she saw her. Felicia looked around to find where to bring the kitten to see Lydia Hardy adopting a black cat and donating money to the animal shelter. Felicia was frozen. Her mother was standing there. She looked the same as she did in all of her pictures. A beautiful woman with green eyes and a black pixie cut. It was obvious where Felicia got her curves and sexy body from.
Felicia must have been staring for a long time. "Are you okay kitten?" Felicia spluttered. She was in shock. Her mother spoke to her softly. Felicia didn't know if she needed to run or if she needed her mother to hug her and take away all of her pain.
Selina had laid a hand on her shoulder and shushed her. "Calm down kitten. You're okay." Felicia wasn't okay. Selina knew that but tried to help her. Felicia hated it. She got her mother killed, she should be screaming at her. "What's your name kitten?" Her voice was so sweet. Felicia felt like she could fall asleep listening to it.
Felicia stuttered. "I- I'm Fel- Felicia." Selina froze for a second. Felicia didn't know why. It was barely noticeable but she noticed it. Selina smiled. "That's a beautiful name Felicia. Who's this little one?" She picked up the kitten from Felicia's arms and held it in her arms.
"I don't know. I found it and came here to donate them because I can't afford to take care of it." Selina tore her eyes away from the kitten and looked up. "You're an orphan." It was a statement not a question. "Please don't tell anyone." Selina hated the CPS system. All it did was bring pain to kids in need. What hurt more was how much the girl looked like her.
It reminded Selina of the person she didn't dare think about. Selina blocked her daughter out of her mind. The little girl she gave birth to all those years ago. Selina got knocked up by Batman and was so scared. She didn't know who he was or how he would react. Selina couldn't kill her one child, the mere thought of it hurt her.
Selina wasn't a mother. She was orphaned at a young age and didn't have any parental figures in her life. She couldn't be what her baby needed. After she gave birth she named her kid and put her up for adoption. Felicia Sara Kyle was born and put up for adoption on the same day. Her birthday was December 23rd. Two days before Christmas.
Selina was always closed off and short tempered on that day. She hated herself for what she did. She always wanted to be better than her parents but never felt like she was being better than them. Her fourteenth birthday hadn't even been three full months ago before she was reminded of her. A girl named Felicia with her green eyes, nose, facial structure, and height was standing in front of her with a small white kitten in her arms. The same color of her hair.
Selina remembers being her age. She looked like Selina when she first became a teenager. The only difference was the hair. Selina couldn't believe it. She gave up her daughter only for her to be left on the streets. She did what her parents did. She left her kid an orphan on the streets.
"I won't tell anyone. I promise Felicia." Felicia relaxed slightly. Something was bothering her daughter. She wanted to know what it was. "Thank you m'am" Selina smiled. "It's Selina dear. Selina Wayne." Selina had become comfortable with wearing the name of her husband. She didn't have any attachment to the name Kyle at all.
Felicia's mind took a minute to register what Selina had said. Her name wasn't Lydia Hardy here. It was Selina Wayne. "Thank you Selina." Felicia sounded like Peter with how polite she was being. "Tell me Felicia, do you really want that kitten?" Felicia nodded softly. Selina walked over to her and put the kitten in her arms. "What do you say we buy what we need for you to take care of this little kitten?" Felicia perked up with excitement. Why was she acting like such a child? "Really?" Selina nodded and brought her to a pet store.
Felicia and Selina didn't speak much about anything other than the kitten until Felicia saw a little spider toy and immediately grabbed it. Selina raised her eyebrow. "Why the spider Felicia?" Felicia blushed. She was about to tell her not-mother that she had a boyfriend. "My boyfriend likes spiders." It was true but that wasn't the real reason she was buying it.
Selina felt her body go into a mode she had never been in before. The girl had a boyfriend. Teenage love had heartbreak written all over it. Kids her age didn't understand love. They all dated to have sex. Especially the boys. Selina wanted to protect her daughter from all the pain he would bring but her daughter didn't know her. To her daughter she was just a stranger.
"Your boyfriend?" Selina's voice came out as a purr and Felicia's face became even redder. "Yes." The voice was small and embarrassed. "What's he like?" Selina didn't expect for this to be the first conversation between her and her daughter. "He's a big nerd and he's really sweet. Peter's always there when I need him. He's probably the strongest person I know. Despite everything that has happened to him, he always puts a smile on his face and looks for the best in people. Peter gets back up when he's knocked down and always helps others when they get knocked down." Felicia had a huge smile on her face. Selina loved seeing her daughter smile. It's like looking at a little version of her. She needed to get the proof and speak to Bruce right away.
Selina smirked teasingly. "So you like the hero types?" Felicia blushed again. This was not the first conversation she was supposed to have with her mom. "I thought I didn't. Until I met Peter." She was just like Selina. Selina didn't think the good boys were anything crazy until she met Batman. "I was the same way until I met Bruce. I always thought the bad boys were my type. But you're young. Take time to figure it all out." How was Felicia supposed to tell her she was eighteen and already figured it out but was stuck in her fourteen year old body in another universe.
When the two of them got back to the apartment they set up everything for the kitten. He played with some of the toys while Selina took in the apartment. It was an old and abandoned Crime Alley apartment. It had one bedroom which meant Felicia and Peter were sharing it. If Peter so much as cuddled her Selina will have his eyes clawed out of his face.
Selina enjoyed talking to her daughter. She was smart and was going to school at Gotham Academy with a scholarship. Everything was going great. Then her daughter mentioned Steph, Duke, and Tim. She sat with them at lunch with Peter. Her daughter was friends with her husband's adopted kids. Selina really wanted to meet Peter now.
Selina was not happy with Peter. It was four in the morning and he was just getting home. She hid how upset she was for her daughter's sake. She looked ready to pass out. Selina gave him a warning. If he does this again he will never see Felicia again.
Selina had taken a piece of Felicia's blood when she wasn't looking. She hated breaking her daughters' trust but it was needed for physical proof. Selina returned to the manor to see everyone was asleep. She went to the cave and tested the blood sample. Her DNA matched two people. Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne.
Selina cried that night. She cried for her daughter. The daughter she was supposed to protect and keep safe. Instead she left her on the streets like her parents. Except her parents died and Felicia's didn't. Selina heard a crash behind her and turned around to see Alfred stunned by the screen.
"Alfred. I'm sorry." Alfred looked at her. "I'm sure you had your reasons. Misses Wayne. Now let's get you to bed." Alfred helped Selina to bed and avoided waking up Bruce. Selina would tell everyone on her own.
