•CHAPTER 12•

Wednesday
Mister Ray's POV

The dope game was never safe for anybody, including myself even though I been in this position for about twenty plus years. I did some shady shit in my past but I wasn't ashamed of it. I was currently at one of my clubs I owned on the Southside this was where I did most of my dirty laundry.

Covergirls that was on the Eastside of Houston was my actual legit business and I was planning on taking over the whole Eastside pretty soon. I was thinking about getting some of the girls that worked for me to help me wash my money at that location cause shit was just getting too crazy on that side of town.

I had that young cat Kass entering in and out as he pleased but I allowed him cause I wasn't no punk ass nigga. He knew what I was capable of and still was bold enough to show his face in my shit.

Once he tried that dumb shit by killin' some nigga in my establishment, I knew I had to do something about that and made sure it could never happen again. I used Lexi as my pawn because I knew she had a thing for Kass or at least I thought she did, but she didn't know that I was using her for other things, more than what she already knew.

"When are you going to find him? I'm tired of waiting." My wife, Anita asked lighting up her cigarette that I hated when she smoked. She had been my wife for thirty years, we married young, had one child and now I didn't really want anything to do with her. That's why I kept Lexi young ass around from time to time but I was getting tired of her too. I figured once we put Kass to rest I was going to cut her loose.

I know I gave my word to take care of Lexi but my wife found out about her and I didn't need all the drama around me, I just wanted to get to this money and this money only.

"When the time is right Anita. I still got some shit I need to figure out." I explained to her. We were currently talking about finding our son, Matthew. I heard he was running shit on the Eastside and I wanted to take him under my wing to see if he was doing fine without me.

We put Matthew in an all boys home when he was twelve and we left him there since. I felt bad but Anita and I was young and didn't know what the hell to do with a baby. Our parents wouldn't help raise him so we had to let him go. I was heavy in the drug game and once he turned eighteen I discovered that he was out here doing the same shit, following his dad's footsteps.

I ordered one of his boys to come see me so he could possibly help me get acquainted with him again. I know the nigga prolly hate me right now but it was worth a try.

A knock on my door broke me out my thoughts and I buzzed the person in once I saw who it was.
"I got Huncho here Mister Ray, you've been expecting him?" My assistant Tory stated.

I smiled at them and nodded my head then applying my cigar to my lips. "Yeah thanks man. Come on in Huncho." I told the young guy who looked no older than twenty-five.

"What you want from me man?" He asked rudely.

"Chill out young buck I called you over here cause I need your help." I told him.

"Help you do what? Don't you got niggas around here that can take care of your business?" He snapped at me. I was trying so hard to keep my cool but I felt like I needed to pistol whip this lil nigga.

I chuckled at him and got closer to the boy, "I need you to help me take care of my business. Lemme know now if it's a problem and I'll handle it myself." I lifted my suit jacket up to expose my gun that was tucked in my pants.

Huncho turned around and saw my guards holding their guns in their hands just in case he wanted to try me. He deeply sighed and gave in, "What you need done man?"

I fixed my clothes and cleared my throat. "I need you and ya boy Matt to help run some shit on the South part of H-Town."

"We already got so much work on the West I don't think he can handle allat." Huncho said.

"Nigga I didn't ask you shit. I'm tellin' you. I need you and him to meet me at this exact location next week. I'm going out of town tonight and I won't be back until next Wednesday."

"What time?" He asked.

"3pm, not a minute early and not a minute late. Oh, and keep the guns at home it ain't that type of party." I nudged his shoulder before going back to my pool game and he just stood there.

"That's all?" He shrugged looking silly.

I stared at him for a minute, "Where you meet Matt?"

Huncho explained, "I was shooting dice and got into a fight and he helped me, so we been cool ever since.

"He showed his loyalty without you having to show it first. That sound like a real nigga huh?" I asked and the boy just nodded.

"Well it was good talkin' to you Huncho. I'm expecting you and ya boy to be here next week. You can go now." I dismissed him.

"Aight man." He said then left.

I was excited to finally be reunited with my boy, but I could feel that something wasn't gonna go right. I knew Matt was a hot head and once I tell him the story about why we wasn't in his life I don't know what could happen that's why I told his boy no guns or it was going to be a problem.

"Thank you Ray." Anita said standing next to me with a smile plastered on her face.

"For?" I questioned.

"Finally trying to get in touch with our son. He's our only child and I don't know how much longer I could've went without seeing him. He's grown as hell now and the last time I saw him he was just a kid." She tried to say without getting emotional.

I really wasn't doing this for her, I was doing it for me and my business. I don't know what type of man he turned out to be but he clearly wasn't a good one if he was in the same business that I was. You had to be cutthroat, reckless, tough and strategic when it comes to this type of work. He could declare me as his enemy at any given moment if I don't make the right moves.

"I don't even know what I'm gonna say or how he'd react towards me but I'm ready to see him. I've been ready to see my baby for so long now." Anita trailed on.

"Baby, Let's just get our minds prepared for this trip together alright? We will handle the situation when it gets here." I informed her.

"Alright. Okay, I'll calm down for now." She smiled and planted a kiss on my cheek.
