Masons pov

The next day, I woke up, said the pledge of allegiance to the American flag I had hung on my wall, and started my daily workout routine.

I stretched, did pushups, lifted cinder blocks, and finished with a jog to the park.

I saw the lookout in the distance and thought about liberty. I decided to go see how she was doing. I rang the doorbell, and in a minute or two, the intercom chimed. "Hi Mace, come on up," she chirped.

I stepped into the elevator, and the doors opened automatically. As I was going up, I was astonished by how big it was. This was the nicest building I had ever been in.

Once the elevator got to the top, I exited and saw Liberty in her full-paw patrol uniform.

"Hey, mace!" I said. "I was just about to go on patrol, do you wanna come with me?"

"Sure!" he said "Sounds like fun!"

"Awesome!" I said excitedly. "Are you always this energetic in the morning?" he asked

"Yup, I am a morning pup," I answered

"That's cool, I've always been a bit of a night owl, but I need to work out in the morning to wake up fully," he explained

"I can tell," I said without thinking. I immediately blushed, but he didn't seem to notice.

"Thanks!" he said. I changed the topic, thankful he didn't notice my blush.

"Let's get going," I said. "I'm ready when you are," he responded.

It was a quiet day today, so we just went on a walk around the city.

We stopped by Tony's fruit stand, and he came over to talk to me.

"Liberty, who's your new friend there?" Tony asked

"This is Mason," I told him. "He saved me from some alley cats yesterday ."

"Nice to meet you, Tony," he said politely.

"It's nice to meet you too," said Tony. "I'm glad to see that someone else is also taking care of liberty. Speaking of which, what can I do for ya?" he asked

"Can we get a watermelon to share, please?" I said, "I have money this time."

"Nonsense, this is on the house," he said cutting a watermelon in half and handing a half to each of us. "Thanks, Tony," I said, smiling as Mason tore into his half right away

"Wow! That's good" he exclaimed

"Best in the city," I said, grinning, as I began to eat mine.

Time skip- 1 week

Liberty pov

I have been hanging out with Mason a lot the past week, sometimes at his place, and sometimes at the lookout.

I challenged Mace to a game of pup-pup boogie, and after I taught him the rules, it got pretty competitive. We were in the middle of a 25-25 tiebreaker when the videophone rang."that's probably Ryder." I said. I turned off the game and she went to answer the call.

"hey liberty," Ryder said, "how is it going in Adventure City?" he asked

"It's been pretty good." I said, "It's been pretty quiet lately, but I made a new friend."

Mace walked up to the screen. "Hey I'm Mason," he said "You must be Ryder"

Ryder smiled. "Yep, that's me, " he said, "I'm so glad that Liberty is making friends."

I smiled too.

"Mace saved me from some mean alleycats. That's how we met," I explained.

"Oh no," Ryder said, sounding concerned. "Did they hurt you?"

"No," I said "he scared them off before they could attack me"

"Good thing he was there," Ryder said, his expression relieved.

"Yeah, he was very brave." I looked at him. He was blushing from all the praise.

"Anyway, I was calling to let you know that since it's been so quiet, me and the pups are gonna come down to the city for a few weeks," Ryder told me.

"That's great!" I exclaimed, "When are you leaving?" I asked.

"2 days from now, as soon as we get everything packed" he answered

"Cool," I said "Is Everest coming?" I asked

"Yeah, Everest will be there," he said.

"Perfect, it will be a lot of fun!" I said
