Chapter 14: Breath of Life

After the extravagant banquet was held Loral retreated back to her permanent chambers or at least that's what Zeus said.

Ever since she first laid eyes on him she has had...unnatural feelings towards him. Although they shouldn't be there because she is not his mate

she, welcomes the new found feelings.

She may not have known him that long, not even two days but for some reason she trusts him.

It's almost like, like iv known him my whole life. When he looks at me I feel whole or when he smiles at me I get a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach.

But it's wrong! I cannot and will not feel this way towards him. It's treasury , I can't feel for another man when my...mate is still living.

Mate

A word that will forever be bitter on my tongue. Cruel and harsh, abusive and untrustworthy that's what he is!

He betrayed me! Fed me to the wolves and left me to die. He doesn't deserve me, never again will I be with him.

All I have to remember is, I'm safe. Zeus will protect me. He will not hurt me, that I know for sure. I don't know how I know or why I feel like I can test him but I just do. I feel it in my guy and I have never been led wrong when I trust my instincts.

As I walked through the highly expensive and decorated halls of Olympus my mind began to reel.

Not a week ago I thought all this was bull. And now here I am, an immortal myself.

That's messed up!

"What's messed up?" Asked a deep voice from behind me.

I gasped in surprise and swiveled around to see who it was only to knock right into a hard metal platted chest of armor.

As I slowly lifted my eyes to see who it was I immediately looked backdown. Not daring to look into the eyes of the god Zeus.

How stupid of me! I should have known. Ugh why me?

As I kept rambling incoherent things apparently out loud I felt a hang slide under my chin and lift it.

"Look at me Loral" Zeus demanded in a husky tone.

"I-uh um..I c-can't" I stuttered like an idiot. Ugh grow some balls Loral! Man up or woman up? Oh whatever!!

"Loral..." He whispered. Oh his voice makes me wanna melt. It's so dark and deep like rich dark chocolate.

Hmm oh yeah I could stand for a taste of that.

My mind was snapped back to reality when I heard a deep chuckle. "You could stand a taste could you?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.

Oh shit, did I say that out loud?

"No Loral, I'm a god I can read minds" he said amused. Oh phew I didn't say it out loud...wait that doesn't matter!

I really gotta watch what I say!

"Loral...please look at me" Zeus said almost desperately. "Let me gaze upon your beauty, just once".

Slowly I raised my head and locked eyes with a man of sheet beauty.

Almost as in sync we gasped as we looked upon each other.

My breath was taken away. I knew he must have been handsome but, but I can't even explain it. It looks almost as if he's glowing. A sheer radiance of god like features.

Sharp jaw line, straight nose, high cheek bones and bright emerald green eyes laid before me, for my eyes to feast upon and boy did I.

I soaked in every inch of him, his beautiful face, chiseled tan chest and big buff arms that were enclasped around my small waist only made me feel smaller.

As I looked closer I noticed he was doing the same to me. Looking at me with love and sheer want and need.

Does he feel the same? How can I feel this way for someone I have not formally met till now? What's happening??

"Love Loral...love is happening".

"I don't believe in love anymore. Not after what hades did to me". I whispered

Instantly his eyes darkened and his hold on me tightened. "That bastard will never touch you again!" He seethed

"This is treason Zeus, I'm hades mate. I'm bound to him and only ever him".

"Tell me loral, do you love him? Does he make you feel this way just by looking at you?". Zeus asked with need.

"No...I only ever feel hate for him and when he looks at me I feel disgust" I said bitterly.

" Loral I don't know why I feel this way and I dot know why you feel that way to your supposed mate but, I have an idea" Zeus said urgently.

"Supposed?" I asked, I'm confused.

"Yes supposed, all will be revealed in due time little one but for now, I need to know something".

"What are you talk-" I was cut off by Zeus' soft lips upon mine. I moaned at first contact as my lips grew warm and heated against his. There was no sparks or electric shocks and part of me was grateful for that.

All I felt was need, warmth, heat, whole and..love? Did I feel love?

Maybe I did...

As he pulled away and broke the small kiss I felt complete. My whole broken world seemed to put itself back together again. Like a piece of me that went missing was filled again, like a puzzle piece finding its right corner.

"Loral" he breathed as he placed his forehead against mine. I smiled up at me lightly and gripped onto his armor harder, never wanting to let him go.

"It's true"

"What is?" I asked

"That were ma-" he was cut off when we were roughly pulled apart and thrown to different direction of the hall.

"So I see you decided to take the easy rout brother" Hades hissed as he gazed upon me. I quickly loved back in fear when he began to approach me.

He sauntered towards me with a look of malice upon his now ugly and dark face.

"Get away from her!" Zeus roared out as he threw Hades away from me and into the far wall.

As Zeus collected me in his arms Hades arose from his spot on the ground and growled at us.

"I warned you brother and now you will pay! War has begun!" He roared in a flash was gone.

"So be it...brother" Zeus said solemnly

"As of today, we are at war with the underworld".
