Chapter 26: Bleeding Heals
•••
Loral hummed a small tune as she walked through the gardens. Spring was in full effect in Olympus, it was always spring here. The smell of fresh pine was wafting through the air. Gentle breezes swayed her raven locks across her face, brushing gently against the wind.
Her mind for once, was at peace. There was no war, no worry, and no harm was going to come to her baby. Softly, the tune began to melt into the setting sun. Gripping onto the stem of a Moon Flower, Loral watched as it began to bloom and spread its petals as if stretching from a long nap.
Her mind began to lighten with ease as she felt the healing affects of the life spreading throughout her. For so long she had felt dead inside. Waiting for eternity to come to an end, yet knowing that would never be. However, in this moment, in this minuscule nano second, everything was perfect.
"Some say that the Moon Flower will only bloom for the one it deems worthy. If not, it will only bloom once every decade at the height of the Solstice Moon." That voice she knew all too well.
Grinning she continued to caress the flower and began to walk deeper into the garden, knowing he would follow.
"Such beauty should not be hidden away for so long," her reply came out soft spoken, as if she were whispering to only the flower.
Zeus grinned at the beauty walking in front of him. The moon was almost overhead as the suns golden rays became lost in shadow. Even in the darkness her light spread into the night.
Humming in delight Zeus answered, "Yes, I agree, such beauty should never be cast into darkness. Even if it is only for a short time."
Slowly Zeus caught up to the one he loved. Caressing her backside Zeus knew he only had a second of contact before the necklace would tighten. He despised that horrid jewel with everything in him. Hades was clever to send her here with that 'thing' on, knowing he could never touch her how he so badly craved.
"My love, my time is almost up." Loral sighed as she felt the feather light touch of her lover.
"I will NOT let you go!" Zeus all but growled out as he thought of losing her once again. In the last 10 months they had not been able to figure out how to keep Hades from her. It seemed fate had made no fail safe for the young lovers.
Loral continued on as she beckoned him further into the garden. Caressing her swollen belly will sadness, Loral thought of the little time she had left. He would come for her soon, though the baby's due date had been late, coming upon ten months. She only had two months left before the year was up and the winter Solstice would arrive, along with her Demon of a mate.
Frowning, the two found a seat by a large water fountain in the middle of the garden. Cupid was spitting water from his mouth as he aimed his lovers bow at a couple. The scene was humorous as Cupid was depicted as a young infant in but natures basic suit. No doubt the god of love was not pleased with this statue erect.
"I have not given up Loral, there is still time" he said with finality.
No doubt he had found a way already, but that would endanger the life of her unborn child. She would not risk being born again as a goddess to lose her child. That was truly the only way out, she had to bleed again, only to heal once more. That wound however, never healed, it scabbed and rotted her will to live. All she had left was her child, and even then she would not be apart of its life. Her duty as a mother would never be fulfilled. The emptiness in her heart that grew each day could not be mended. She was bleeding dry in anguish and in pain, and not even the beauty of Olympus and the love of Zeus could sate her sorrow.
