Chapter 5: Dark Shadows and Lifeless Souls.
Dark
That's all I could see. Pitch black...nothingness.
I felt cold, I felt alone. I felt this strong feeling of depression as I looked around at the place before me. And the place before me is like nothing I have seen before.
Fields of black grass and dead colourless flowers were sprawled out, it seemed as if they went for miles. That's all i could see from where I was, standing in the middle of it all.
The lifeless flowers made me feel hollow and sad, the black sea of grass almost broke my heart. Not seeing it draped with morning dew, no bugs lay in their folds and it didn't move with the movement of the chilling wind it came across.
Is this what the lost souls are destined for? To forever gaze upon this lifeless pasture of what was once beautiful nature.
It may not seem that bad but the very feeling of being here caused a dark and hollow malicious feeling to form in the pit of my stomach.
I wondered how I got here, one minuted I was with...'Him' and the next I'm here, alone. I don't know where I am or how I'm supposed to get out of here or if here even has a way out.
I can't stay here, I thought as started to walk god knows where. I just needed out of here. As I started to walk in a random direction I felt a chilling happiness wash over me, I looked behind me from where the source was coming from and noticed in the very places I walked the grass slowly came to life and filled with colour. The flowers I accidentally stepped on suddenly sprung to life and filled out, almost as if the petals were stretching for the first time.
My eyes grew wide and my heart sped up. 'Did I do that?' I questioned myself as I gazed on the beauty of the small pieces of life in a lifeless place.
I turned around yet again and made the trek down a steep hill and all the while, wherever I stepped sure enough life came to the place I was. I didn't know how this was possible but I was glad there was some life in this place.
I started coming out of the pasture and an into a dark forest.
Here the ground beneath my bare feet was a dark green almost black, it was dead also but soon small spots sprang to life as I kept walking. Looking around I noticed the trees didn't have leaves on them.
The branches were bare of anything and were growing in all directions. They gave me an eerie feeling. I hugged my arms together as a gust of wind flew by me, making my hair fly in all directions.
Walking deeper into the forest I noticed A small sound coming from the distance. It started out as a small whimper but turned into a full out scream as I got closer. The very sound sent a shrill of fear threw my bones. It sounded tortured and pained.
As i got closer to the sound I noticed a small beaten up sign on the lining of another wood. I looked closely and my eyes widened 'The Forest of Suicides' it read.
I quickly looked up as another scream echoed through the bush of branches. Deciding against better judgement I crept closer to the sound.
It felt as if I had been walking for an eternity, my feet were tired I felt achy and I'm pretty sure I have been walking in a damn circle trying to find the owner of the voice.
Finally coming onto the victim I almost screamed out in horror. Before me was a young boy, maybe only 17, no older then me. His skin was pale but still had colour. He looked fine if not for the fact he was hanging my a rope from one of the trees. His neck was bloodied from the tare of the tips on his skin.
