Blazing Regalia

Chapter II: Silent Response

    
      Xon wakes up, still on the floor he passed out on, and gets up nauseously. He notices the bandages on his arm are gone, and his arm feels completely normal. He looks around the place for Lua, who seems to have left, but just as he starts towards the door, he hears a loud thud from the other side of the room. He ignores it and opens to door to leave, which prompts Lua to sprout from behind the bed.

Lua: "You heard that loud thud and you try to leave, coward?!"

Xon: "Uhh, I just didn't feel like dealing with whatever was over there.."

Lua: "Whatever, scaredy cat."

Xon: "Who're you calling a scaredy cat?"

Lua: "You! Unless you want me to call you a pus-"

Xon interrupts Lua by slamming the door open, and gesturing for them to leave, Lua scoffs and walks over. They exit the lodge and Xon feels a burning sensation in his chest, which reminds him of an important question he wanted to ask.

Xon: "How... capable are you?"

Lua: "What, like fighting?"

Xon: "Yeah, fighting, surviving, all that stuff."

Lua: "How about i just show you."

Lua steps away from and assumes a fighting stance, Xon does the same.

Xon: "Ready."

Lua: "You better be."

Xon rushes towards Lua without hesitation, and sweeps behind her, catching her by surprise, Xon grabs the back of her collar and throws her downwards into the ground. Lua conjures a mysterious purple cube and uses it to force Xon away from herself. Xon catches himself.

Xon: "What was that?"

Lua: "Its my resonance."

Xon: "Resonance? What is that?"

Lua: "Do you seriously not know what a resonance is?"

Xon: "..."

Lua sighs

Lua: "Most living beings have the ability to "resonate" with themselves, which unlocks an ability tied to your reason for resonating, this ability is called your resonance."

Xon: "So it's basically a superpower you get for struggling in life?"

Lua: "Pretty much. My resonance is called "Dreamscape" and it allows me to conjure blunt objects."

As Lua finishes her sentence, she conjures a massive cube, which she hurls directly at Xon. He catches the cube, but Lua pulls it back, causing Xon to fall forwards. After he gets back up, he charges once more. Lua conjures a stick to wield and prepares for his attack. Xon jumps into the air and attempts an axe kick, which Lua blocks and grabs his leg, throwing him into the ground. Xon tries to get back up but Lua conjures a cuff to chain his arm to the ground, at which she points her stick at Xon's throat signifying victory.

Xon: "I guess you aren't that bad, at least you wont hold me back."

Lua: "Tough talk for someone who's chained to the ground."

Xon tenses his arm and pulls forward with all his strength, the chain quaking against his efforts, his eyes glow with determination as he barely snaps the chains in half; freeing himself.

Xon: "Tough talk for someone who's chains can be broken by a normal kid."

Lua: "You are not normal."

Xon: "I know, I know, no need to praise me."

Xon gloats without realizing that Lua's eyes have turned red, Lua swipes at his face with her stick in hand, and its simple graze drew blood from his skin. Xon leaps backwards and feels the burning sensation in his chest again. He sloppily dodges the flurry of objects being hurled towards him. He catches one of the objects; a slab of some sort, and uses it to get closer to Lua, he drops the slab and sweeps around Lua, he grabs her face and slams it into the ground, knocking her unconscious. After Lua falls unconscious, Seven manifests itself in a wisp form.

Seven: "What are you... how are you this capable without your resonance!?"

Xon bothers not with a response, and swipes Seven away, and realizes the nature of Lua's situation. Lua wakes up shortly after and apologizes, knowing well that Seven likely attacked him. He helps her up and they relax for a moment.

Xon: "I know somewhere we can go to get some help."

Lua: "Help? with what?"

Xon: "With your possession issue obviously."

Lua: "I hope whatever your planning works."

After resting for a short while they get up and plan their journey, with their first objective being to save Lua from her "curse."

They plan to start towards Khemeia, the renowned city of science and alchemy. He hopes to meet someone who has studied wisps before and could help Lua. Surprisingly, Lua has never heard of this city. They planned to journey through a small forest on the way. Naturally with a set time of exploring to be done, they converse with themselves.

Xon: "Are you sure its fine to leave your home on a whim like this? we probably wont return for months."

Lua: "It's fine, its not my house anyways."

Xon: "I'm... not surprised."

Lua: "But regardless, I would do anything to get rid of Seven, i just want to be free."

Xon sits in silence for a moment.

Xon: "Well, I never had any parents either, I survive by traveling to random villages and cities and participating in fighting tournaments for money, sometimes even illegal tournaments if i need to. I plan to journey across the entire world, including the heavens and underworld if I have to, to find my bastard parents, to find out the reason for my birth."

Lua: "Oh, so we're both homeless."

They share an initial laugh before preparing to leave. Xon realizes that the entire time, they were still in Varren, which means it will take around a week and a half to get to their destination, excluding any delays in the forest. They finish preparing and finally leave the village, expecting many great things to happen.
