Lua wakes up the next day to see Xon staring outside the window of their residence, a dimly lit sky shining in front of him. She gets out of bed and walks up to Xon.
Lua: "Why are you staring outside the window?"
Xon, startled from Lua's sudden wake, flinches and responds shortly.
Xon: "When did you wake up? I didn't hear you at all."
Lua: "Maybe you were just that absorbed by the sun, what's up with it anyways?"
They stare outside the window together noticing the sunsets odd hue of red.
Xon: "It's kind of pretty, despite its abnormality."
Lua: "Yeah, I guess so."
The two's moment of sungazing is interrupted by a faint but impactful sound of flurrying wind. They both leave the residence and begin walking about the residential area before running into Marc and the guards who've rallied in one of the many courtyards within Khemeia. They don't get close before being halted by surrounding guards. Loud banter and yelling makes it difficult for them to get Marcs attention.
???: "Shield!"
Xon & Lua gaze forwards above them, a massive volley of arrows hail towards them, and as they clash with the resonant barrier laid by the guards, they each explode violently, leaving cracks within the soldiers defenses.
Xon leaps over the guard before him and rushes over to Marc, They yell over the rumbling sounds of the erupting arrows.
Xon: "What's happening? Where did those arrows come from?"
Marc: "The Kingdom, they're attacking! Go to a shelter, we'll handle this!"
Xon: "No, we can help!"
Xon extends his arm forwards as his aura gently flows out from it, It's amount slowly increasing exponentially before bursting outwards from his entire body.
Xon: "I can't control it as well as I could before, but my resonance is stronger now! Let me help any way I can!"
Marc stares for a brief moment before sighing and facing his gaze forwards.
Marc: "Fine, We already have barriers established all around Khemeia. You and your friend need to go through the nearest residential area and assist them in finding shelter. There's an underground bunker in the courtyard of the residential area. Tell them I sent you!"
Xon nods and rushes back to Lua.
Xon: "Guess what?"
Lua: "What trouble did you get us into this time?"
Xon: "You wont be complaining when we're recognized as heroes, dear friend! Follow me, we're gonna go around the residential area guiding people to the underground bunker in its center."
Lua: "Okay, let's go!"
Xon and Lua dart off, as Marc watches them from a distance.
Marc grits his teeth.
Marc: "Reflect the shield, send the remaining arrows back!"
The resonant soldiers all chant in unison, as the barrier flashes briefly before repulsing the explosive arrows backwards, outside of Khemeia's walls.
Marc: "That should halt them for a while, Take a breather and take turns on lookout, Hazel's in charge!"
The men all shout in confirmation whilst Marc heads towards his office. On the way there, he runs into Genso.
Marc: "Genso? What are you doing here? You should be in the bunker as well, or at least in any sort of shelter."
Genso: "Oh, about that, I just came to relay some information to you, that's all."
