Xon and Lua finally leave Varren and set their marks on the city, Khemeia. The presumably week and a half long travel goes relatively smoothly, as they talk along the way, however, the forest they have to venture through has remnants of misfortune in it.
They arrive at the entrance of the forest, and they both feel an ominous shiver erupt from the shadows between the trees.
Lua: " You felt that?"
Xon: "Yeah, we might be a little delayed."
Lua: "We can't just.. go around?"
Xon: "Not unless you want to extend the trip by a month or two."
He marches into the forest and Lua follows closely behind him.
Xon: "I've only traveled through this forest twice so don't expect a perfect guide."

After hearing that, She conjures a shield.
Xon: "Are you actually scared?.."
Lua: "..."
Xon breaks through the leaves in their way as they hear rustling ahead of them, He assures Lua that whatever is exerting that aura is far, far away from them, Lua loosens her grip on the shield.
They continue forwards until they reach a patch of open grass, which in the center they see a stone statue resembling an elven warrior with a wreath around his neck and a crown of leaves. Xon recognizes the statue.
Xon: "We're in elven territory."
Lua: "That's not a bad thing, right?"
A rustle from the leaves erupts from behind them and out sprouts a young girl wielding a bow that pulsated elven magic. Despite never actually encountering an elf, He could tell that she was one. The elf fired an arrow towards them which Lua blocked with her shield.
Xon: "We're not here to fight, we're just passing through the forest!
???: "Like I'd believe you! All you humans do is come into the forest, steal our resources and disappear!"
Xon looks at Lua, and gestures for her to conjure him a weapon, she conjures a staff and passes it to him. He assumes a fighting stance, then dashes towards the elf, but right before reaching her, she disappears and reappears upon a tree branch above them.
???: "The forest is our territory, you'll never beat me here. It doesn't look like your cursed friend is going to help much either."
The young elf charges another shot, seemingly stronger than the one before. Xon throws the staff at her, causing her to lose balance and jump down from the tree, all the while he grabs Lua and runs away, deep into the woods.
In their short moment of panic, they head off course and don't know where they are. They wander around the forest, looking for anything that hints them of where they reside. Xon see's an arrow marking on a nearby tree and drags Lua down to a prone position, not much later, they hear people speaking.
