POV - DJMonopoli

I watched as Russo paced around the room, a focused look on his face. What was he coming up with now? My gut twisted with worry.

The past few days haven't been the best. Our meetings were usually filled with arguments, which I only watched. And now we're on the verge of battle.

"DJ," Russo said blankly.

A shiver went down my back. Not that he was somebody to be scared of or anything, but it just took me by surprise.

"Y-Yeah? Do you need anything?" I asked.

"Not really, I mean-I am done thinking, but I just noticed you're kind of staring into space."

"It's nothing. Trust me."

He looked at me suspiciously and sighed. "You're probably worried, aren't you?"

"Ah, there's no point in lying. Yeah, I am."

I avoided eye contact with him, but I could still feel Russo's eyes burning into the side of my head. It made my hair stand on end.

"I'm sorry that you feel that way and about the fact that we have to do this. But it was inevitable."

He actually sounded genuine, like he was actually apologizing to me. I could never understand Russo and his constantly changing personality. He can be upbeat. He can be cold and ruthless. He can be caring like a friend. So how does Russo actually act? Is it one of them? Is it a combination of them all? Or is it none of them?

My throat tightened, but I forced the words out anyway. "I understand. So what do you want to do?"

"Disable the border, and welcome anybody who comes into the border room and wants to cross. Sabrina will probably get her people to ambush my side, but I've already prepared them. She has some skilled people when it comes to battle, but we'll be able to defeat her anyway," Russo stated with a stern look on his face.

"What do you mean by we?"

"We as in me and the other people in Heaven, unless you're saying you're going to be fighting by my side? I doubt it, considering your 'let's stop all of this fighting and have peace' mindset."

"I see," I frowned. "There is one question that lingers in my mind, though. Why do you even want to do this?"

There was a brief pause of silence. "You should know by now."

"I'm sorry, but I don't."

Russo let out a low chuckle and turned to me with a serious look. Then, his eyes flashed dangerously with an electric glow.

"Oh, it's simple. Because I want to show them that I am the one in the right."

POV - ???

I stood among everyone else, ready to fight. The other competitors had serious faces, unlike their usual outgoing demeanor. They seemed determined to win, confident in their abilities.

I wasn't so sure. Like yeah, I could just make the odds go in our favor-but that wouldn't be a fair fight, wouldn't it? Ahaha. Just imagine what would happen if things went horribly wrong.

We'll just have to wait and see.
