Aj has been with Niko for about 9 months and the first 3 were like heaven. Niko would take him out on dates, buy him flowers, make him laugh and was honestly the best boyfriend he could've ever asked for. It was like they were best friends with all the other factor of a relationship embedded into it. And Aj really loved that it was casual but romantic.

But then the fourth month hit and things started to go downhill. Whenever things didn't go his way he would shout and scream and sometimes even hit. Niko stared to get really hands on and physical with Aj whenever he did something that Niko didn't like.

Aj didn't think that Niko meant to hurt him the way that he was, he was probably just stressed. But the things he was doing to Aj was really breaking him down physically and mentally.

Aj had bruises on his back and grip marks on his arms and waist where Niko had grabbed him too harshly. If Niko wanted something, he was bound to get it.

Niko wasn't really sure why he was doing what he was doing, himself. He saw his dad do it to his mum when he was younger, his mum never fought back. So Niko figured the only way to get a person in your control is by forcing them.

Aj was pouring himself a bowl of cereal that morning for breakfast when Niko came downstairs. His heart started to race slightly. It wasn't fear, Aj convinced himself. He was just slightly nervous of what to say to Niko sometimes. Like he was afraid to say the wrong thing.

Niko walked into the kitchen and saw Aj. His Aj.

"Hey, Nik." Aj smiled

"Morning, baby." Niko leaned in and kissed Aj sweetly. "Is this mine?" He looked at the bowl of cereal sitting on the counter.

"Um-" But before Aj could reply, Niko cut him off.

"I hate cornflakes. You know that." Niko tightened his grip on Aj's arms.

"I'm sorry, Nik. I'll fix it." Aj said, almost desperate to get out of Niko's hold.

"No." Niko pushed Aj closer, kissing him once more. "I wore you out yesterday, didn't I?" Niko smiled. "You were bound to make a mistake."

"I..." Aj couldn't tell if this was a trick. The look in Niko's eye was menacing and it terrified him.

"Right?" Niko squeezed tighter.

"Yes..!" Aj had to say something.

Niko laughed. "Wrong."

Fuck. Aj should've known better than to fall into one of Niko's trap.

Once Niko was done laughing, he sighed out. "Fucks sake. You know I hate doing this."

"Then don't. Please?" Aj begged.

"Oh but Aje... how will you learn?"

"I will, I swear, please Nik I'm tire-"

Niko slapped Aj in the face.

Aj wasn't even shocked. He spoke back. He shouldn't have spoken up, it was his own fault. He kept his head turned to the right, tears welling up in his eyes. He tried not to let them fall. He shouldn't have upset Niko. Why did he upset Niko?

"I'm so sorry Aje..." Niko squeezed Aj's face, forcing him to look Niko in the eye. "But I have to do this."

Niko harshly flipped Aj around, knocked him down to his knees and pinned him against the cabinet doors. Aj gripped the counter as an attempt of support.
