Today, Aj was feeling brave. He'd been having a really good day today, luck was also on his side. His outfit coordinated perfectly, his hair was freshly dyed and Sharky actually told him he looked good today!

So today was the day Aj was going to test his luck and ask out the certain man of his dreams. Aj had had a crush on Niko for forever but was always afraid to tell him. He was scared of rejection, or being outed or humiliated. But Aj managed to convince himself, with the help of Chunkz, that above everything him and Niko were best friends. There was no way that was going to change just because one of the men happened to have feelings for the other! Right?

Well, regardless, there was no turning back now because Aj was already knocking on Niko's bedroom door and being told to come in.

"Hey..." Aj mumbled nervously.

Niko, who was laying on his bed relaxed, didn't notice the look of distress on his friends face. "What do you need?"

"Uh, actually, we need to talk."

Niko smirked a little. "Sounds serious." He joked, still not getting the gist of the mood.

"Yeah it is."

Niko's smiled dropped slightly. He patted the bed beside him, motioning for Aj to come and sit. Aj shook his head, fiddling with the edges of his shirt. "Erm, you okay?" Niko pushed himself to sit up, dangling his lithe legs off the bed.

Aj's heart was going at an immense speed. He was seriously doing this. "Nik..." Aj could almost feel his eyes welling up already. Why was it doing that?! Niko hadn't even said anything yet!

"Yeah?" Niko finally decided to get up from the bed and walk over to where Niko was standing.

The height difference didn't help Aj's case whatsoever. Just having to look up at Niko the way he did gave him butterflies.

"Niko..." Aj started once more.

"Try say anything that isn't my name, Aje." Niko laughed, slightly not taking Aj seriously right now.

But, oh, how Aj loved that laugh. It comforted him when he needed it. Aj smiled a little. Niko was so perfect, how could anyone not fall in love with him at any moment? Niko was Aj's favourite person by far, no arguments about it. There is no man that he could think of that he'd be comfortable enough to ask out than Niko. The man was so laid back, chilled and easy going. Aj wasn't afraid to confess in fear that Niko would judge him for liking men. But more so because he was scared of the hurt to come when Niko would let him down gently, telling him he's not into men but that he supports Aj fully. That would hurt more. Much more, in Aj's opinion.

Aj swallowed a lump he felt in his throat, itching his arm nervously as he did. This time he was the one who inched a step closer to Niko. And even that tiny bit of confidence he'd used up made him feel weak. Afraid. What if this actually did go horribly wrong? What if Niko no longer wanted to even live with Aj anymore? Or do Beta Squad with him or even just be friends with him? No, no. Aj just couldn't live without Niko. He couldn't even imagine it.

"What would I have to do to get us to stop being friends?" Aj blurted out, sort of saying something that he didn't mean to phrase in that way. He hated the way it simply sounded too much like he was admitting he had three months to live than it did a heartfelt love confession.

"That- that question," Niko started to laugh nervously, "is a little concerning I'll- I'll be honest with you Aje." Niko was surprised managed to get out his sentence with how much he was laughing.
