"Oh, Aj, are you seeing anybody? Do you think I could get your number?" It was a genuine request, Niko could tell that much.

"Oh, hah," Aj laughed awkwardly and Niko watched him ruffle his own hand in his hair. "Thanks, but erm, I am kind of in a relationship. Sorry." Well that was news? Since when was Aj in a relationship? And what, he never thought to tell Niko about it? They were friends, weren't they?

Niko watched as the girl looked defeated, she smiled a sad smile and nodded before walking off to her friends for comfort. "Aj's in a relationship, did you know?" He just about heard her tell her friends.

"Well, yeah obviously. We tried to warn you girl."

That made Niko sort of mad. How did these girls know and not him? Niko had taken Aj to an event today, some sort of YouTube socialising thing so people can get to know each other. Aj wasn't supposed to come, nor did he even want to. But when Niko was told he could bring a plus one, he thought of no person better than Aj to take along with him. And of course Aj was convinced after being promised free food at the event.

Niko saw that Aj had finally, finally noticed his staring and walked was starting to walk over to him happily.

"Hey!" Aj smiled, "I've been looking for you everywhere!"

"Oh have you? Didn't think you realised whilst you were out socialising." Niko said pettily.

Aj snickered "I don't even like social events, I'm here for you, idiot."

Niko nodded in some sort of understanding. It was true, in Aj's defence. There might not have been anything that Aj hated more than talking to people that he didn't know. Well, okay, Aj also hated physical touch to death but Niko disregarded that. Purely based on the reason that Aj would always allow Niko to touch him regardless of how much he hated it.

"So, who's the new girlfriend?" Niko asks, still in the mood to be mad but also genuinely curious.

"Oh her?" Aj points subtly over to where the girl was still hugging her friend in embarrassment and misery. "No idea, she said something about being a YouTuber but I wasn't really listening."

It was brutal, Niko thought, that Aj didn't even have the slightest bit of knowledge on the girl when she had all that courage to go and ask him out. "No, I wasn't talking about her. I heard you say you were in a relationship."

"Oh, yeah. Kinda had to, you know? Sorry did you not want me telling people that?" Aj looked up at Niko kindly. He stared in this way that made Niko sort of light up inside. How Aj was constantly ranked last for being attractive in Beta Squad was honestly beneath him.

"Well, I guess it's not my business." Niko mumbled sadly. "But you could have told me you had a girlfriend, you know?"

Aj snorted out in a fit of laughs. "God, thanks for that man, I really needed a good laugh."

Niko looked at Aj in this sort of way that made Aj's laughter die down. "You are joking, right?" Aj wanted clarification.

Niko shook his head annoyed and he was wondering why Aj found all this so unnecessarily funny. 

"Wait you're being serious?"

"Yes! Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend?!"

Aj looked visibly beaten. Like he had no clue what to say, and clearly he didn't. Because it took him ages to give an answer. "I guess." He sighed, "I guess I thought you knew".
