The next morning after breakfast at the Pokémon Center, I was en route to Eterna City when I came across a green-shaded Machop.  I checked the Pokédex and found that it was called a "shiny" Pokémon, which had less than one percent chance of encountering!  I couldn't believe my luck!  This had to be a sign that I would easily beat the gym leader, even though it was weak to grass types.

Right after I caught the Machop, I heard a familiar voice call out to me "hey man, I thought I'd find you struggling along back here!"  I turned around and saw Felix heading towards me.  "Hey Felix!  Long time no see," I said. "What's up?"

"Have you been training your Pokémon since the rampage? I see you have the Coal Badge. Let's battle!" He was really eager for some reason. Did he have a goal to get stronger too?

"Sure! I'm warning you though, I'm not easy to beat," I told him. "Yeah, yeah. Let's do this," he waved as he backed up to make a field.

"Chimchar, Mach Punch!" I commanded.  "Go, Piplup!  Use Bubble!" Lucky my Chimchar was fast enough to attack first and deal some good damage, but Bubble caused massive injury to Chimchar. "Chimchar, return," I called. "Take a good rest. Go, Starly!"

"Hah! We got 'em on the run! Metal Claw, Piplup!" Felix yelled. "Starly, dodge and use Quick Attack," I engaged. "That won't help you. Metal Claw, once more!" How is Felix already this strong? I asked myself. "Starly, use Tackle," I told it. I could see that Piplup was finally getting weaker.

"One more Quick Attack, Starly," I shouted. Piplup was done. "No, Piplup!" cried Felix. "Thanks a bunch, return. Go, Bidoof!" "Starly, come back," I ordered. "Go, Ralts!"

"Double Team," I called as Ralts entered the field. "Bidoof, use Rollout!" Felix shouted. "Quick, use Confusion Ralts. Don't let it hit you!" I needed to attack quickly. "Bidoof, Tackle," he yelled. I knew that wouldn't do too much damage; this battle was already won.

"The final Confusion please, Ralts," I said. "What do you mean 'the final—'? Oh no, Bidoof!" Felix exclaimed. "Oh well, good match. You did warn me you weren't gonna be easy to beat." "It was fun, for sure," I told him. "We should do this again soon!"

When I arrived in Eterna City, I some suspicious-looking grunts in all-black with yellow circles on the sleeves. They spotted me and ran away before I could yell at them.

I decided to call the Professor about those people I saw, and he said that he would check out who they were with Cynthia and Mikey.

After that I headed to the gym. I wasn't really worried about it since it was grass type, but I still kept my guard up just in case...
