The next day on my way to Veilstone City, I saw a couple of those grunts (who I still don't know what their team is).  This time, I won't let them get away, I thought.  "Hey!  Stop right there!" I yelled?  No, that didn't sound like me.  I turned around and saw Felix running towards the grunts.

"You gonna help me out here or what?" He asked me.  "You bet!  Go, Monferno!" I yelled to start our double battle with the grunts.  "Prinplup, use Bubble Beam on their Swablu!" Felix called.  So his starter Pokémon evolved too!  Sweet.  "Alright Monferno, Mach Punch on their Starly!" I commanded.

Just from that one attack from my Monferno, the Starly was knocked out.  However, Felix's opponent was lucky enough to withstand an attack because water types weren't very powerful against most types.  "Swablu, use Astonish on the Monferno," one of the grunts said.  "Dodge and use Flame Wheel," I ordered.

The Swablu fainted.

"Argh!  We'd better go tell boss this," they scrammed.  "Wait!  Who IS your boss?!" I yelled after them, but they ran away before I could get an answer.  Dang it!

"Ah well," I sighed.  "We'll get something out of them next time.  Good work Felix."  "Same to you.  Did you get a call from Rowan yesterday too?" He asked.  "Yep.  I'm not sure I like what's going on here, but I don't even know what's going on here.  So I'm just doing whatever the Professor wants from me," I answered.

"Looks like we're in the same boat then, buddy," he laughed as he slapped me on the back, which I hope was in a playful manner.  "Last one to Veilstone gets rampaged by a wild Tauros!" Felix challenged.  "Hey, not funny dude, especially since they've been happening more frequently now!" I laughed.

A few minutes later led up to my Ralts finally evolving!  It grew slightly taller, with little something that looked like pink ears sprout from its head.  "Wow, congratulations Kirlia!" I exclaimed as I took out my Pokédex.  "Kirlia: the emotion Pokémon.  A psychic type.  It is said that a Kirlia that is exposed to the positive emotions of its Trainer grows beautiful. This Pokémon controls psychokinetic powers with its highly developed brain."  That's pretty cool!  I wonder what else it can do with its brain, I thought.

Upon approaching Veilstone City, Felix was waiting for me in front of the Pokémon Center. "I suppose you're here to battle me?" I sighed. "Well we didn't battle after the grunts did we?" He countered. "Fair enough. Let's go."

He started off with a Magnemite, so I decided to lead with my Monferno. "Use Flame Wheel!" I yelled. "Thundershock, Magnemite," Felix told it. Monferno's Flame Wheel did massive damage to Magnemite and didn't take much from Thundershock.

"Take it out with Mach Punch," I said. It did just as it was told. "Thanks Magnemite, come back. Go, Prinplup." He switched to the super effective Pokémon, so I switched to Kirlia. "Calm Mind!" I ordered. This move raised Kirlia's special attack and special defense.

"Prinplup, Metal Claw," Felix said. "Now use Confusion!" I shouted. Since it used Calm Mind, it did more damage than usual. "Prinplup use Bubble Beam!" He yelled. "Kirlia, take the hit and use Calm Mind again!" I ordered. "Now use Confusion." Prinplup fainted because of Calm Mind!  "Prinplup, come back.  Thank you.  Go... PONYTA!" He shouted as he threw his last Pokéball.

"Kirlia, keep your guard up.  Calm Mind," I warned.  "We gotta get them on the offensive, Ponyta.  Use Tail Whip," he said.  "You want offensive Felix?  Confusion!" I attacked.  Ponyta was already low on health after that one Confusion because of all the Calm Minds.  "Ponyta quickly use Ember!" Felix cried in desperation.

"That won't work!  The last Confusion, Kirlia!" I shouted.  And that was it.

"I lost again?  Man..." Felix sighed.  "That was a way better battle than last time though."  "They'll keep getting better, definitely!" I replied.

After healing up my Pokémon, I decided to take on the gym.  "You ready, guys?" I asked my Pokémon.  They all cheered in agreement, even Machop, who hasn't had much battling experience.  "Alright then, Maylene, we're comin' for ya!"
