Chapter Ten

But when I approached the gym, it was locked!

"What?!" I exclaimed.  "Where's Maylene?"  "If you're looking for the gym leader, she went to go help fix up the department store that got ransacked yesterday."  I turned around to see the gym coach walking up towards me.  "If you're not too busy, would you mind helping them out?" He asked.  "Oh... right.  I forgot," I sheepishly admitted.

When I arrived at the department store, there was a whole lot of construction going on.  I asked around the worksite to see where Maylene was helping and, after getting some directions from a worker, made my way to the fourth floor.  "Hey, Maylene.  Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked.

"Oh you're Professor Rowan's assistant!  As you can see, the grunts have destroyed mostly the third and fourth floors.  Could you try and get your Pokémon to help fix up the broken cases and shelves?" She requested.  "No problem!" I answered.

Ten minutes later led to all of the cases, shelves, walls, and miscellaneous equipment being fixed good as new.

"Whew, thanks a bunch kid!" Maylene wheezed as she helped a Machoke carry a final desk and put it back into place.  "I take it you're a gym challenger?" She asked.  "Always happy to help!  And you guessed it," I answered.  "Do you have any idea what those thieves wanted from here?" I asked.

"Actually, I know exactly what.  But we should head somewhere more private so no one else can hear.  Since the Professor trusts you enough to let you in on this mission, I feel that I can tell you this information."

We decided to talk in the gym, since it was locked and Maylene had the key.

"You should take a look at this."  She handed me a piece of paper.  "One of the grunts dropped it after they ran last night.  I only just found it today."  I opened it up and what was on it shocked me:

Goals of Team Night Sky:

Find the Space and Time orbs
Control Dialga and Palkia
Force Team Night Sky into reality

"What does this mean?!  Who is Team Night Sky?  Did they raid the department store to try and find the Space and Time orbs?"  I was freaking out.  "Slow down!  But yes, they did steal the Space Orb from Veilstone's Department Store.  We've got to show this to the Professor,"  Maylene exclaimed.  I took out my Pokédex and gave him a call.  "Please pick up, please pick up, please pick up!" I panicked.

"Hello?"

"Professor!  Maylene's discovered the team that's been causing so much trouble lately!  They're called Team Night Sky, and they're after the Space and Time orbs that control Dialga and Palkia!"

"Team Night Sky?  This is not good.  I have to go," he said hurriedly.

And then the screen went black.

"He hung up???  The nerve!" I exclaimed angrily.  "He must have a good reason why, though," Maylene said, a little worried.  "That's definitely not like him."  "Should we try contacting Mikey?" I asked.  "I think it's best if we don't bother the champion while he's on a top secret mission," she replied.

I sighed. "You're probably right, but this plan could put the whole world at risk! I'm going to sleep, I need a break. I'm gonna challenge you tomorrow though!" "I'm looking forward to it!" She exclaimed. "See you tomorrow!"
