(A/N: Sorry that this chapter is shorter than usual and also that it took a while to come out. I'm not the best at writing out Pokémon battles in my head. Hope you enjoy!)
"Go... Quagsire!" yelled Crasher Wake as he threw out his next Pokéball.
"Quagsire huh?" I pulled up the Pokédex: "Quagsire: the Water Fish Pokémon. A water and ground type. These Pokémon have an easygoing nature. They normally don't care if they bump their heads on boats and boulders when they swim."
"So it's kinda like a Psyduck," I snickered to myself. My dad had a friend when he was a Pokémon Trainer who used to always have a Psyduck around. From what I've heard, she caught it by accident, and it wasn't very smart. But it could use some pretty powerful attacks. It's probably best not to underestimate this Pokémon, I thought. "Okay Luxio, Thunderbolt!" I called.
As Luxio shot the bolt of lighting towards Quagsire, it still had that derpy look on its face, like it didn't seem worried about getting a super-effective hit straight to the face. I could tell that something was up, but maybe I was just paranoid.
But when the attack hit home, literally nothing happened. The Quagsire just shook it off like nothing happened. "What?! Why didn't it do anything?! I thought it was a water type!" I yelled.
"You're right that it's a water type, kid. But you must not have heard the Pokédex when it said that Quagsire was also a ground type, canceling out its weakness against electricity," explained Crasher Wake. "Now attack with Rock Tomb!"
Somehow, the big land fish materialized many giant rocks above my electric cat. "Try dodging them all with Double Team, then use Bite," I countered.
Luxio managed to dodge most of the rocks that fell above it, but took a little bit of damage. Thankfully, it was able to keep battling and dark fangs materialized to strike down Quagsire.
"Wow, what an attack!" Crasher Wake was stunned that a Bite could take out his Quagsire. I wasn't going to tell him that it was by a critical hit though.
"Alright, Wake. Who's your last Pokémon?" I challenged. "You won't be ready for this one," he said as he called on his ace: a Floatzel.
