I entered the gym.
It had a pretty different theme from Roark's gym. Roark's more reflected the Earth, such as small boulders and such because he was a rock type gym leader. This gym looked more like a garden with flowers and vines hanging from the ceiling. There were also small trees that spread across the building like a maze?
Aw crap. I was not the best at mazes. I don't know what my luck is, but I always choose the wrong paths before the right one. This gym was no different. I literally chose the only wrong path that led to a trainer battle. Of course it did.
"Go, Cherubi!" yelled a gym trainer. "What's a Cherubi?" I asked. "Cherubi: the Cherry Pokémon. A grass type. The small ball holds the nutrients needed for evolution. Apparently, it is very sweet and tasty." The Pokédex explained.
"Go, Chimchar! Use Ember!" I shouted. It was super effective, but you already knew that. "Cherubi, use Sweet Scent," the trainer said. I'm not sure what that move does exactly, but it didn't hurt Chimchar, so I wasn't really concerned.
"One more Ember, Chimchar." Cherubi was knocked out. "Cherubi, return. Go, Turtwig," called the trainer. "Alright Chimchar, return. Go, Starly!" I yelled. "Wing attack!" The Turtwig fainted after one hit? I thought to myself. I checked my Pokédex and it said Starly had gotten a critical hit. "Aw man. Good battle," the trainer told me after the battle. "You too," I answered.
Alright, back to the maze... where am I? Ah, dang it. I'm just gonna "wing it". I guess my luck is turning around, because I was able to find the right path!
"So, you found me," Gardenia said as I walked up to her. "However, you can't battle me yet." "What?! Why not?" I argued. "In order to battle me, you have to prove yourself by defeating all the gym trainers here," she answered. Well, that's annoying, I thought.

After one of the trainer battles, both Chimchar and Starly started to glow. I checked my Pokédex and saw that they were evolving! Chimchar's tail grew longer as its ears grew bigger. Starly had grown as well. Its body grew larger as well as bigger claws.
They were no longer Chimchar and Starly, but Monferno and Staravia! "Wow, great job you two!" I exclaimed in excitement.
After finding my way around Eterna gym (and getting lost along the way), I finally somehow made my way back to the gym leader. "Good work," she said. "Now you have the right to challenge me. Are you ready?" "Ya know... I just need to heal up my team because of those freaking gym trainers you made me fight!" Sorry, I had to let my anger out.
One trip to the Pokémon Center later and I was back in action. "Alright, I can battle now," I said in slight annoyance. "Let's go."
