Chapter 9: Decommissioned

This is chapter 9
So the Bad Batch and the girls are sent to retrieve the head of a tactical droid.
Goes slightly off the rails.
Rafa and Trace Montez meet Neve since Ahsoka has told them about her during her exile.
(Early morning)
(Hunter's POV)
I shot awake drenched in cold sweat sticking to my skin in the room Cid had offered us after completing the bounty she had given us yesterday looking around relaxing when registering Neve cuddling in my side letting out a relieved sigh running my hand through her hair gently I could feel my anxiety fall with my heart pounding in my chest I glanced at the clock seeing the time "shit it's only 1 in the morning" I said to myself letting out another sigh laying back down using my other hand to rub my face "hey you okay?" I looked over to see Neve now awake and worried "I-I'm fine just another nightmare" "love you know I can ease the frequency of the nightmares right" "I know but I don't want you exhausting yourself worrying about me" I said pulling her into my chest she let out a sigh "if you say so but you know you can tell me if you change your mind" "oh I know that Ner mesh'la I know" I heard her let out a sleepy laugh curling up while in my arms "so warm and cozy" I let out a chuckle as she purred "you want another cuddle session today?" "I would like that" I wrapped my other arm around her hearing her comforting purring nuzzling herself into my chest her wings curled up lazily draping over us both I yawned about to back to sleep when we looked over at the opened door since we both heard the door open "Omega sweetheart what's wrong?" Neve asked sitting up as Omega walked in "I had another nightmare" Neve got out of bed to scoop Omega up into her arms walking back to the bed with Omega wrapping a wing around her as she nestled back into my side "hey mom" "yes?" "I was wondering can we go to Earth I wanna meet my uncles and aunts" I glanced over to Neve as she looked at me "well I suppose a visit wouldn't hurt but when the Empire loses its attention we can go and stay there permanently" "really?" I wrapped an arm around Omega "oh yes really it's safer there than out here" I leaned my head against Neve's as she curled up tail curled at her feet Omega let out a yawn nestling between us both falling asleep I fell asleep after her while letting Neve play with my hair
(Later on at 6:30 in the morning)
(Fives's POV)
I yawned waking up in one of the rooms Cid lent us Echo woke up after me on the bottom bunk as everyone else got up "another day" "wonder how Anakin and Rex are doing?" Echo said as Wrecker yawned loudly helping Crosshair pulling our armour out from underneath his bed "I think we had the most sleep after finally being able to sleep without rotating our shifts" Tech said pulling his goggles on I looked at Omega's bed finding her gone "where's Omega!?" I panicked "Fives I'm right here" we looked to see Omega walk in with Neve and Hunter both up and wearing their armour standing outside "come on let's go grab some breakfast" we got back into our armour heading to grab breakfast before discussing our next move Wrecker grabbed himself a plate full of food for himself Omega sat next to Hunter as he grabbed a cup of coffee for himself and for Neve as Echo took Omega to train her in using her energy bow after breakfast
(Omega's POV)
I aimed my bow at the target painted on a machine trying to keep it level "steady" Echo said before losing my grip as it fired nearly hitting someone walking into the parlour "sorry!" I apologised before trying again with my parents watching hearing two of the regulars at the parlour make bets before missing again they were laughing I looked over to Mom and Dad "it's alright Omega you'll get it" Dad comforted me Mom smiled at me before losing her patience with them slowly turning her head glaring at them murderously Dad gulped sweating slightly knowing the look "keep laughing at my daughter and you're losing an arm" she threatened them ears pinned behind her head they immediately stopped laughing looking at her shaking "leave now before I do it" they left clearly frightened she angrily muttered something in Mando'a that the others winced at "love calm down" Dad rested his hand on her shoulder making her look at him "note to self don't ever provoke the momma bear" Crosshair muttered as the others agreed "maybe try practicing with this" mom passed me a bow and arrow to practice with "how do I use this?" I asked holding the bow up "I'll teach you" I listened to Mom's instructions while watching her demonstrate how to use a bow copying her movement arms shaking slightly while holding it steady before hitting the target in the centre "Mom I did it!" I cheered "keep practicing and you'll have great aim in no time sweetie" I put away the bow and arrow before practicing with the energy bow again
(Crosshair's POV)
I watched Omega practice her aim improving greatly after Neve taught her how to use ranged weapons that were shaped like bows but releasing too soon "never took you for a archer" "well back home I had to learn how to use different weapons bows were one of them, I wasn't good at it but over time and with a lot of patience and practice I had the same skill level as Hawkeye when using a bow" Neve explained "I swear we keep learning more about you everyday" "well let's just say I'm a book full of secrets" "and love" Hunter added before kissing her lips making Fives pull a face at them both "I wonder when we'll have another niece or a nephew" I questioned to myself "hey you both can kiss later, I got another job for you" we looked at Cid as she walked in pushing Wrecker off a chess board "I assume you lot know what a tactical droid is they're" "they're the brains of the entire Separatist droid army" "ah-bup-up-up this is is my briefing Goggles" Cid said showing a image of the tactical droid Tech fixed his goggles sheepishly but focused on what Cid was saying while looking over to Hunter seeing his face "we still haven't decided if we're going to be working for you again" he said "well then allow me to decide for you, you're in!" I saw his face darkened slightly Neve held his hand in comfort "and you, you're releasing to soon because of those weak noodle arms, you gotta build up your arm strength" Cid demonstrated using the energy bow before handing it back to Omega "lesson over" she walked back into her office as we left the parlour heading to the Marauder "hey it's okay Hunter" "she's going to be using us" "I know but it's only until the Empire loses interest in us long enough for us to slip away undetected" I glanced over to them before looking at Echo and Fives they were worried about everything that's happening
(Later on)
(Neve's POV)
I stood behind the Marauder's pilot seat next to Hunter watching the window as we stuck to the hull of a cargo ship before turning my head to listen to the conversation quickly noticing Hunter rubbing his face before gripping his head slightly before shaking his head my fur bristled slightly recognising the sign that was similar to when Tup had gone crazy "it's like what happened to Tup it's definitely his inhibitor chip acting up or I'm just being weirdly badly paranoid" I summarised to myself in my head "how do we remove the inhibitor chips?" I questioned to myself in my head "mom you okay?" Omega asked me while sitting on the chair behind the pilot seat the boys were looking at me with worry "I'm fine Omega I was just thinking about something is all" I assured them all Hunter raised a brow at me but said nothing about it thankfully "it's not a total lie" I added in my head "anyway what were you saying?" I asked them engaging into the conversation again "not like you to not pay attention Neve" "yeah I know sorry" I said "I got a lot on my mind lately I kinda zoned out" I added listening to the plan Tech piloted the ship to land outside the disassembly plant where the Droids were being decommissioned and reused since there was no need for them anymore after entering the planet's atmosphere and unlatching to the bow of the cargo ship I pulled my helmet on as we made our way to one of the exits climbing up the ladder as Wrecker groaned fear gripping at him "we're almost there Wrecker" Echo told him still climbing with the rest of us I slipped slightly quickly unfurling my wings to fly up in case I fell "you alright love?" Hunter asked me "I'm fine just slipped slightly don't worry hon" I said before looking to Wrecker "just don't scream Wrecker" I told him "what?" I grabbed him soaring up with him holding onto my arm for dear life screaming as quietly as he could setting him down on the platform next to Hunter and Tech "anyone else need a hand?" I asked as both Echo and Fives climbed up with Omega and Crosshair behind "we're good" "alright everyone we go in quickly and quietly" everyone nodded going in one at a time quietly and without arousing any alarms "when we finish this task Hunter what do you want to do?" I asked "that's a good question I don't know perhaps a date night just the two of us" "in Cid's or in the Marauder?" I asked amusement in my voice "well I wouldn't mind if we chose hanging around in Cid's or have a holonight in the Marauder" "we can decide after we finish this m'kay?" I removed his helmet and mine to kiss his cheek "okay love"
(Later on)
(Hunter's POV)
I stealthily walked through the decommissioning plant with the others "Wrecker Crosshair you both watch our six" "you got it Serge" "we're on it" "what about me dad?" Omega asked "stay here, keep quiet and keep an eye out for that tactical droid" "here you can use my blaster in case you lose your bow Omega" "thanks mom" "alright let's go look for that tactical droid, Omega if you get into trouble comm either me or mom okay?" "I know dad don't worry about me I'll be okay" "let's move" I ordered my squad as Neve went off to find the tactical droid avoiding the security droids and the factory workers within the plant taking to the shadows I crouched down next to Tech looking for our target before getting into a blaster fight with the security droids and workers Fives and Echo cornered one of the workers only to reveal someone else after the tactical droid "does anyone have any eyes on the tactical droid?" I asked using the comms "it's on a conveyor belt" "a second person is after the tactical droid don't worry I'm in pursuit" Omega said through the comms "no Omega stay put!" I said "I would be mad but I'm torn between being mad or being so proud" Neve said "well she is taking after you and Hunter" "alright who are you?" I asked the girl "I'm Trace Montez the reason we need the tactical droid is probably what you know already" "indeed but who do you work for if I may ask?" Tech asked her "I'd rather not say" she stopped talking in favour to pointing behind me "look out!" I watched the droid fall to the ground with Neve standing behind it "hi honey" "hi love" I greeted back smiling under my helmet doing a helmet kiss "Dad Mom I'm stuck on the conveyor belt help" "hang on sweetie we're coming!" Neve called out running off to help our daughter I followed after her laying flat on my stomach reaching down to Omega "Omega grab my hand!" I called "I can't reach you Dad, Dad look out!" I looked to my right to see a security droid taking aim at me but was swiftly shot and kicked down in a double effort by the other person after the tactical droid and Neve who flew down next to Omega "Mom!" "I gotcha sweetie hang on!" I watched her scoop Omega into her arms flying out of the furnace swiftly getting to my knees taking Omega into my arms as Neve landed next to me kneeling in my arms after taking off her helmet to look Omega over for any injuries wrapping her wings around us both "I'm so glad you're okay sweetie" "don't scare us like that again okay Omega?" "I'm sorry Mom, Dad it was so scary" "it's okay baby girl we got you" I soothed "come on let's regroup with the others we'll decide what to do" Neve pulled her helmet back on after kissing Omega's forehead we regrouped with the others "name's Rafa Montez" "wait aren't you Ahsoka's friends?" Neve questioned "how do you know Ahsoka?" Trace asked "because my twin brother was her mentor and she was his Padawan" Neve said taking off her helmet both the Montez sisters stared at Neve both shocked at her presence "you're Ahsoka's older sister that she mentioned when we first met her" "well considering I had to keep my brother and her from getting killed on a daily basis while loosing my bloody mind I hope it's all good things" she muttered "Ahsoka told us about how cool you were when you were fighting droids and bad guys alike and how strong and powerful you were" "oh she's still insanely strong and powerful as she has proven which I lost count on" Neve laughed at me before her ears shot up having caught onto a noise "hit the deck!" I pulled Omega away as everyone took cover as more security droids entered the factory Neve pulled her helmet back on igniting her lightsabers deflecting the bolts away from us and back at the droids "stay down!" I told Omega over the noise "I need to help mom okay?" I told her again as she nodded keeping her head down as Trace stayed with her as I gunned down the security droids with the others
(Echo's POV)
I ducked with Omega covering her head and making sure she's safe "we won't get out not without help we need a diversion stat" "what we need is a diversion" Trace gave Rafa a look before doing a double take before looking at Omega "is there an echo in here?" Trace asked "yes" "what?" "I'm Echo" I gave her a tiny salute "really" "yep that's my name Trace" "okay Echo we need a diversion and I got an idea we activate the decommissioned droids in this factory to help us escape" "won't they fire on us too!?" Fives yelled out as Wrecker laughed as he demolished droids with his fists "not if we reprogram them Tech help Trace" Neve got tackled to the ground by Hunter saving her from a blaster bolt to the back "thanks" "no problem Ner cyar'ika" he helped her up they both ducked with me and Omega as everyone else did the same Neve forced a catwalk down using the Force pulling it towards her and making cover for us from above allowing Trace and Tech to activate the tactical droid head and reprogram it Tech started to download the data from the droid on a hard drive "awaiting orders" "activate battle droids command them to attack any and all security droids" Trace said speaking to the activated tactical droid the other remaining battle droids activated engaging with the security droids "never thought we'd live to see the day clankers would help us" I said "you said it Echo" Fives agreed with me before we started blasting our way out with the droid army's help "the tactical droid's head!" Neve grabbed Trace as the head was blasted away "your life is more important than that" she said before quickly summoning a wall of fire buying us time and cover to escape we climbed into their ship to get away and back to where we parked the Marauder "Cid's buyer isn't gonna be happy" "so let me get this straight you boys came here to get the information on the tactical droid that is no doubt dangerous for someone you don't even know" "that sums it up perfectly" R7 beeped and whooped clearly happy to see Neve as she patted R7 on the head Trace landed next to the Marauder we stepped out heading back into the Marauder only Neve and Hunter stayed behind to talk to Rafa and Trace
(Rafa's POV)
I stood in front of Neve and Hunter "so what will you do now? The Empire won't stop until either they get what they want or you're killed" I asked Neve as my sister sat in our ship's pilot seat "I don't know but I can't abandon my squad nor will I ever do that" she said "what about your daughter?" I asked "I have my responsibility, here" "you're just gonna give us this" "I know that whoever you work for will use what the data has to save many, when you see Ahsoka again tell her I said hi" both her and Hunter walked to their ship as we both left "patch them through R7" I looked at the two figures "we acquired the tactical droid data from Corel and we had help it was a squad of rogue clones and their Jedi, and I know where to find them I thought you both should know your sister told me to say hi to Ahsoka" "thank you Rafa me and Rex are familiar with the rogue clones get the data to Padmé she'll know what to do with it" "will do" the call ended "I wonder how Ahsoka's doing?" "I'm sure she's doing fine"
(Meanwhile in the Marauder)
(Fives's POV)
I stood beside Echo as we were travelling back to Ord Mental and back to Cid's parlour Omega slept in the ship's bunks tucked in "so what do we tell Cid?" Crosshair asked "we tell her we lost the data when we were ambushed by the security droids" Neve said offering her idea "alright so after we tell Cid what are you and Hunter doing tonight?" I asked "well we were thinking about having a holonight just the two of us not that we mind having company" "we just want to something together alone" "gotcha we'll entertain and look after Omega for you both" "aw guys" "hey we don't mind" "we're back at Ord Mental" Tech announced landing the Marauder in the port Neve picked up Omega who was wrapped up in the blanket still sleeping "want me to carry her love?" "I got her Hunter" we walked back to Cid's parlour "love you sure you don't want me to carry her?" "I'm sure" "alright then" "so cute I can't" I mentally awed at the three being a family "I'm stronger than I look" "oh that is true and half the time you don't know your own strength" "if you're on about the time I scared a few shinies while doing something don't exaggerate" "oh I remember" "that was when we were visiting the 501st before you had become our squad's General" "we can talk about this later" "copy that"
(Neve's POV)
I stepped inside the parlour after Hunter "I'll take her to bed" "we'll deal with Cid love" I walked past Cid carrying Omega to her room laying her down on the bed tucking Lula and Trooper in her arms "night Omega sweet dreams" I whispered kissing her forehead leaving the room as the others finished dealing with Cid "so how's she take it?" I asked "it was a relatively mild reaction though we will need a way to earn credits to pay off a coming debt" "well that's a tomorrow problem, Omega's asleep so keep quiet" "we got it" "go get yourselves some food, I'm hitting the showers I really need one" "okay love" "you can join me later if you want to love" "I'll keep that in mind hon" I walked to the showers with a towel and clean clothes to change into walking in closing the door behind me pulling my armour off along with my robes and blacks setting them on a rack off the ground with the towel and clean clothes after switching the shower on letting it heat up stepping inside letting the hot water run down my body washing my hair and fur "I am so glad to be able to shower properly" I mentally said relieved to have hot water falling onto my back "oh I can't wait to have a bath when we go to Earth I can relax" I continued washing myself wiping water away from my face staying underneath the shower head
(Hunter's POV)
I pulled my armour off standing in my blacks setting it inside mine and Neve's room checking on Omega ruffling her hair slightly and gently picking up Trooper placing her back in Omega's arms right next to Lula as she slept "Nuhoy pirusti ad'ika" I whispered walking off "I wouldn't mind having another kid or two at least Omega would love em to bits I know I would" I smiled to myself walking closer to the refresher hearing the shower running going in to see Neve cleaning herself up slipping out of my blacks and taking my bandana off setting them aside off the floor on a shelf I wrapped my arms around her waist pulling her to my chest pressing a kiss to her cheek "hey" I greeted her "hey" she kissed me in return "how badly did she chew you out?" I let out a sigh "that badly" I hummed in response "did you get injured?" I glanced to where a security droid managed to shoot me "I'm fine it's not that bad mesh'la" I reassured her resting my chin on her shoulder nuzzling her neck she let out a huff "hold still" she said healing the injury "I forgot you could do that" "yeah well I guess it's a surprise for you then" I kissed her forehead "you're stressed about something" "nothing ever gets past you love" "hey I worry about you our daughter and our squad so nothing does get past me" I said "you're such a worry wort Hunter" I chuckled "well proves that I love you doesn't it?" "I know that" "changing the subject you smell different" "different how?" "I smell something different it's a good different smells like flowers and berries with a slight hint of honey" "that is the shower stuff my sister Null gave me before leaving Earth" "smells lovely" I said "do you want to use the shampoo?" Neve asked "I'm good" "you sure" "yeah smells better on you" "tease" I felt her kiss my cheek "so are we watching some holo's tonight?" "Neve you know the answer" "just checking, well I'm gonna go dry off you shower" "okay okay I will" she kissed me before leaving with a towel around her taking her change of clothes with her to change into
(Later on)
(Neve's POV)
I sat on the bed leaning against the bed rest in my sleepwear which is normally a tank top and sleeping shorts but is now Hunter's top that I definitely didn't steal from him grinning to myself having managed to snag his bandana while leaving the shower "Neve have you seen my bandana?" "I haven't seen it maybe ask Echo or Fives" I lied masking my grin by reading a book as he peered in "Echo, Fives have you seen my bandana?" I silently chuckled to myself while holding his bandana "oh I'm in trouble when he realises" I said to myself "but it wouldn't hurt" I glanced to the door grinning putting his bandana on giggling to myself "looking good love, first you steal my top now you're stealing my bandana" I turned to the doorway where Hunter was leaning against "uh oh I'm trapped" I smiled innocently at him as he walked closer to me "I'll take that back now" "you gotta catch me first love" I said running out of the room laughing "Neve get back here!" I let out a laugh as he chased me managing to duck back into our room after getting a head start hiding behind the door "oh no I lost her" I covered my mouth to muffle my laughter before screaming in fright when the door shut "you can't hide from me love you know I'll find you right, now I'll take my bandana back" he took it off my head wrapping it around his quickly stealing a kiss from me "besides you look perfect without it come on Fluff-Ball let's watch some holos" I snuggled into his side after getting back into bed "so why do you have my shirt?" I heard him ask "I'm not gonna say anything" he pulled me into his lap wrapping his arms around me as we watched holos "when we actually have time can we" "you really want to have another kid don't you babe" "I really would love to have another kid don't you?" "I do as well just be patient we still have the Empire to hide from" "I can't wait to see our family grow" "I know hon I know" I curled up in his arms
Alright that's chapter 9 done
I had a bit of ideas but those are recycled into future chapters
Anyway next chapter is where things get a little bit dark and dangerous.
