26: grandparents

Rudy told me a few days ago his parents are coming to Charleston and they want to meet me and Maisie so he's just left to pick them up from the airport , and to say I'm terrified is an understatement , a lot of things could go wrong so I've been up since five am cleaning my apartment, it wasn't dirty but I wanted it pristine , I'm glad we've got a day of filming for two days, because I don't think I'd be able to work today , it's currently 9am and I've just finished getting ready I've got thirty minutes to get Maisie ready before Rudy arrives with his parents

I grab Maisie's pink dress and white shoes I get her dressed and put her hair in bunches, she asks me what's wrong I tell her nothing I'm just excited cuz I'm not going to tell my one year old that I'm scared to meet her grandparents cuz that will just make her nervous about meeting them, which I do not want to happen, I want my daughter to have a good set of grand parents who will love her and care about her.

I know the way she was conceived wasn't ideal but still she's my daughter and I will do anything for her

As soon as I've finished getting Maisie ready the door knocks I feel my nerves build up as I walk to the door, I open it and just see Rudy there
"Hi ru Where's your parents?" I ask curiously
"Hey Layls their in the car I just wanted to calm your nerves before u met them because I know you anxious about all this so just breathe they'll love you and Maisie okay?" I slowly breathe before nodding he smiles grabbing my hand squeezing it making me smile he places a gentle kiss on my head before he says he's going to get his parents and siblings I walk over to Maisie who's sitting on the couch with her stitch toy I pick her up, holding her on my hip as the door swings open Rudy walks in with an older woman walks in and older man behind them

"Mom dad meet your granddaughter and Layla her mom" Rudy says I greet them while Maisie hides her face in my neck I feel her slightly smile which makes me smile

Me and his mom start a conversation of her asking me questions about Maisie and how much of her life she's missed while Rudy takes Maisie to sit with his dad

"So Layla honey tell me about how have you been holding up? ,Told me about you raising Maisie alone and about your parents, I just want to apologise for how you've been treated you seem like such a lovely responsible young girl" when she says that I feel the tears well up in my eyes no one has ever said that to me

"It's not your fault and Thank you but I don't think having a child as a teenager is responsible, I am also sorry for that I ruined Rudy's life and that I didn't tell you all sooner" as soon as I say these words she wraps her arms around my shoulders , reassuring me that it wasn't my fault I look over seeing Maisie giggling with Rudy and his dad I smile "thank you" I whisper "of course my dear, you know you have me right? And Andrew although he wouldn't be much help she jokes" making me chuckle

"Thank you that means a lot to me" I smile before we start talking about everything from Maisie to my future career.

A few hours later penny and Andrew bid us goodbye and say they'll come and see us soon which makes one very happy Maisie Rae.
Rudy soon suggests we go to the beach which we do Maisie wants to take her doll stroller which we let her and I push her stroller incase she needs it while she walks in between me and Rudy I speak up

"Hey ru?" I say softly he hums in response looking at me "thank you for bringing your parents into Maisie's life and mine I'm so glad you did, it's a relief knowing I've got someone who's already been through parenthood, to help us through it" I say softly watching as Maisie plays in the sand with her baby doll,

"Layls you never need to thank me for that, ever if anything i should be the one thanking you, you bought our daughter into the world and have raised her for nearly two years" I smile at his words we both watch Maisie play I smile before Rudy speaks " layls would you like to go out tonight? The cast are planning a night out, I can ask my parents to look after mais while we're gone"

I think about before nodding, I trust Rudy's parents so I agree to do it which makes Rudy smile, we spend an hour at the beach before it's five pm we go to a cafe to have dinner before heading back home I get Maisie ready for bed, while Rudy gets ready, then we switch.

Not long after we're both ready when the door knocks Rudy gets it while I'm holding Maisie, Rudy's parents walk in greeting us and we greet them I tell them Maisie's bed time and everything she needs before we both say goodbye to Maisie and that we'll see her later we also say goodbye to Rudy's parents.

The drive in Rudy's car to the restaurant wasn't too long, Rudy kept looking over at me when I wasn't looking how do I know you may be thinking the car mirror has its perks.

Once we're at the restaurant I sit between Rudy and Madison we're all talking when they decide we should go to a club after which we all agree on, what's the worst that can happen right?

Heyyyy I'm back I'm so sorry I completely forgot about this book I had half of this chapter already written but now you have this chapter, life has been crazy, I'm doing a course now and it's my birthday next month along with the fact I'm gonna start learning to drive soon so it's all crazy rn but I am trying to be active and write stuff but this is your warning if I don't write for months this is why 😭 but anyways I hope you enjoy this chapter and let me just sayyyy it's gonna get heated the sexual tension in the next chapter may just burst out your screen, but if you enjoyed this please make sure to vote and comment
