Dear Diary,

Am I overreacting? I think I might be overreacting! But maybe I'm underreacting or just normally reacting?! Oh no, I sound like Layla don't I? I don't know! I don't know anything anymore! All I know is that it's getting dark outside and Sophia still hasn't come back to Sapphire Dorm! 😖

I'm so worried and so confused, maybe you can tell me what to do!

Today started out like any other.

During Riding class, Ms. Wildwood sent us on an easy trail to pick skyberries. It's so funny, after everything we've done, you'd think the teachers would just move us up to the advanced stuff already! I guess they want us to rest, which honestly is A-Ok with me! We could all use it after having to deal with Ravenzella nonstop! 😅😵

When you think of a perfect day, you think sunny and blue right? But today was cloudy and it slightly drizzled. But this is Unicorn Island so everyday is perfect! The clouds provided the perfect amount of shade and the rain was so refreshing! We were able to be outside all day without getting too hot. We rode for hours before our unicorns began to get tired. 🌦️🦄☂️

Sophia and Wildstar and Leaf and I trotted next to each other. We all ate more berries than we picked, but we still had a pretty sizable haul to bring back to the stables.

It's always the best thing ever when I spend time with Sophia. We shared secret looks at Isabel and Rory's antics, and she helped me get out of the way when Valentina and Cinder galloped through trying to get the best berry pick. Layla eventually came over to join us and it was so fun!

I'm so mad at myself now for not savoring it more, because just as we came to the end of the trail, Valentina suddenly shushed us.

"Everyone be quiet!" Valentina hissed, cutting her dramatically lined eyes to us.

"Geez, bossy much." Isabel crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

"Be quiet! The teachers are talking!"

Valentina was right, Ms. Primrose and Ms. Furi were on their unicorns just a few feet away from us. Their heads were bowed together and they spoke in urgent, hushed tones.

"Huh, that's kind of shady." Rory said way too loudly, "I wonder what they're whispering about!"

Everyone shushed him and he sank into Storm's saddle sheepishly, "Sorry...."

"Let's listen." Layla urged us.

Once everyone quieted, we all strained to hear what the teachers were talking about.

"It can't be!" Ms. Primrose exclaimed.

"It's true." Ms. Furi informed her gravely, "My third year students told me they spotted grim magic on Unicorn Beach."

"But the grimstone should've absorbed all of it!" Ms. Primrose said aghast.

We listened in a little bit more and apparently when we defeated Ravenzella, the grimstone absorbed grim magic from far and wide but turns out that the stone had a teensy little problem with the wide part. 🤏🏽 Come to find out, there's still grim magic lurking in remote reaches of Unicorn Island!

When I heard them say that, there was this weird ringing in my ears like when someone drops their steel bucket on the stable floor while we're grooming our unicorns. 🪣💥

Layla shuddered and tore through her bag for the Sparkle Book. She flipped through it as though the words she read could make the grim magic go away.

"Aw man, here we go again." Rory's whisper was more a shout, "I just recovered from needing medical attention like two days ago."
