I stared out of the bay window in my bedroom, overlooking the city. Exquire has been in war with a untitled group since what feels like forever. They call it the Third World War. Everyone is suffering. Even me. And I'm a princess. Princess Aura Bell Of The Southern Tover to be exact. There are two parts of Exquire. Split up into Tovers. The Northern Tover and the Southern Tover. I long for the day I can go outside again.
"It's time for dinner, your highness," my maid, Noel tells me. I nod and get up and walk downstairs when I hear a laugh that I haven't heard before in my life. That's odd. We aren't supposed to get any visitors until May and it's November at the moment. It never snows in Exquire though. Ever. Only in the Northern Tover. I continue to walk down the stairs when I spot a boy. Around my age with brown hair and brown eyes. His hair falls over his eyes when he laughs, which he seems to do quite a lot from what I can see.
"Oh Aura! I'm glad to see you finally made it!" My mother says. I smile and curtsy as I walk in and take my spot next to my brother, Xavier, and the boy.
"Uh. Yeah, me too. Who's he?" I blurt out and point to him.
"That's Reid Joshua Marks. He will be taking care of you for-"
"Taking care of me? From what? I live in a castle."
"Yes. But your father and I have decided that's its best if you leave. We were going to send you away with a guard, but this boy promised to keep you undercover and safe," my mother assures me. My face probably turned as red as my dress by now.
"Aura. Calm down," Xavier says.
"Calm down? You expect me to-" an then something clicked. If I want to get outside, I would have to go with him. "Never mind."
"Good. I'm glad you have decided to keep your mouth shut. You will leave tomorrow at dawn," my father says and the chefs come out with dinner.
