-PROM DAY-
My alarm screeches over and over until I finally just end up pulling the plug on the little thing. 9:45 and my day is already feeling terrible. Quinn and I have our hair appointments, then all four of us chill until about seven-ish and then we head to prom. I crawl out of the bed and onto the bare, cold, hardwood flooring. Although I said cold, it's nothing like back at the castle. Those floors were practically ice in the morning. I put on some slippers that I brought form the castle and walk out and down the stairs to see of there's anything to wake me up. I turn on one of the lights and begin shuffling through all of the cabinets.
"The coffee's in the bottom shelf," a voice says behind me. I turn around and see Reid standing at the foot of he stairs.
"Oh hey," I greet him. He walks over to me and grabs the coffee for me, then kisses me. And that's when my whole world explodes for a second time. I've kissed princes before; and yet I still think this is better.
"Thank you," I say and grab the coffee mix from his hand.
"Here. I got it," he says and takes it back. I nod my head and walk over to the couch, were I'm startled to see Quinn sleeping on the couch part and Nick sleeping on the floor.
"Did they not go home last night?" I asks Reid.
He shakes his head. "No, I mean, they meant to. But they just crashed here," Reid explains as he starts the coffee pot.
"Oh. Okay," I say and decide to take my seat at the barstool in the kitchen instead. I hear a rustle of blankets and a yawn.
"Quinn's up. Well, not really. She's just going to yawn, then go back to sleep," Reid says to me.
"And you can tell it all from that?" I ask him as he hands me the coffee. I take a sip. Completely bitter. "Oh and do you have any sweetener?"
"A: we've been friends since kindergarten and B: here you go," he says and hands me something in a little packet. I pour it into my drink and mix it up. It instantly tastes better.
"Where do you find this stuff? I so need this back in the kingdom!" I exclaim, taking another sip.
"We'll get you some while your out today. I'm sure Quinn will show you where it is," Reid says.
"Show her where way is?" Quinn mumbles sleepily. She gets up off of the couch and joins me on the bar stool next to mine.
"The coffee in Publix," Reid explains and takes a sip of his coffee, which makes me take three.
"Yeah sure," Quinn says, then yawns.
"Reid," she asks.
"Yeah?"
"Make me some coffee," she orders.
"But I'm not your-"
"I'll slap you I you don't," she warns.
"Someone's not in a good mood today," a voice says behind me. I look over my shoulder and see Missy, Reid's sister. She's dressed and ready for school.
"Do we has school today?" I ask.
"Not on prom day. There's too many things happening," Quinn informs me as Reid hands her her coffee.
"Your welcome."
"Yeah, whatever," Quinn mumbles and takes a sip of her coffee. "Hey. Do you guys want me to get Nick up?"
"No. The last time you did, it turned out to be a nightmare. For me," Reid reminds her. Missy makes some coffee of her own and let's out a small laugh.
"What did you do?" I ask.
"Oh please don't-" Reid says and places is fingers on his temple.
"This," Quinn says proudly as she walks over to him and pours her leftover coffee on his face.
A scream follows.
"And there it is," Reid says and sighs. Missy and I both laugh as Quinn comes skipping back over to the island happily.
"That was fun." She smiles and Nick gets up and runs to the bathroom, probably to rinse his face of hot coffee.
"I bet it was. Now you two have to go and get changed," Reid reminded us, as if we were his children.
"Before I leave," Missy says on her way out. "I can't find any of my clothes." She closes the door behind her.
"Love you too," Reid says and waves her off to loop back to our conversation. "Anyways, Quinn, you can borrow some of Missy's clothes."
"But all she wears is girly stuff. I like my jeans and leather jacket just fine," she states.
"I don't give a crap," Reid sing and he takes another sip of his coffee.
"Quinn!" Nick yells as he reenters the kitchen.
"Mmhmm?" She asks, admiring her nails.
"Why couldn't you have shook me awake?" Nick asks.
"Oh dear boy," she says and puts her hand on his shoulder. "Do you even know me?" Nick rolls his eyes and plops down at the bar stool next to mine.Great. I'm right in the middle of bickering.
"There like fire and rain," I say to Reid as he walks past me.
"Heck yeah," he agrees and walks back to his spot at the counter.
"When is our hair appointment anyways?" Quinn asks me, still halfway asleep. I look up at the clock.
"It's in like five minutes! We have I hurry!" I say and rush upstairs to get dressed. I comb through my hair a little bit and pull it back in a ponytail before throwing on my clothes and rush right back down the stairs to where they guys were sitting. I pass Quinn on the way down, just slowly dragging herself along like I don't care. All I can do is roll my eyes.
"Why did you make the appointments so early anyways?" Nick asks me as I sit back down in my seat.
"They were going to be booked, so I told Quinn to make them as early as possible and she made them right when they opened," I explain, tugging on my ponytail that Quinn had taught me how to do.
"Well that's Quinn for ya," Reid says.
"So," I say, changing the subject. " what are you guys doing while we're out?" I ask them.
"Well I'm gonna sneak another look at Quinn's prom dress so I can see if it matches because-"
"He's OCD ," Reid finishes for him.
"Just a little bit." Nick his thumb and index finger inches apart and squint His eyes.
"No dude. It's major. Who goes and checks on their date's prom dress just to see if it matches?" Reid asks him, as he cleans out his coffee cup.
"You would if you had the chance," Nick points out.
"Uh, no I would not," Reid says in-a -matter-of-factly voice. We hear footsteps behind us and Quinn is dressed in the most unlike her outfit ever.
"Your sister has the worst wardrobe Reid. I wish I was a size bigger so I didn't have to wear them every time I forget my clothes at my house," Quinn states.
"Well we have to go. So come on," I say, motioning her towards the door. She rolls her eyes and grabs her keys and we walk out into Reid's driveway and get into her car. I open the passenger door and climb in. I buckle myself up and she does she same. Quinn turns on the car, and everything is lit up. From the stereo, to the air vents. Everything is on full blast. Just how I like it.
"I'll give you the directions," I offer her as we pull out of his driveway.
"Nah, it's fine. What place is it again?"
"Studio Chroma Inc?" I tell her, still a little unsure on how good she is at driving.
"I can get there like the back of my hand," Quinn says to me as we exit the neighborhood.
About fifteen minutes into the ride, Quinn asks me to hand her her phone. And so I hand it to her.
"I'm just gonna call the guys where we are," she says. And that's the last thing I hear before the death defying sound of a car crash.
