When Taehyung said that dinner would be worse than lunch, his prediction appeared to be true.
While, the kids were silently eating their foods, Hyungshik and Mrs Cho wouldn't stop glaring at each other, as if they were just waiting for the right time before jumping at each other's throats.
"Taehyung-ah, should you move here with me?" Mrs Cho eventually asked and everyone else around the table stopped their doings to look up at her. "Your father seems to be such a heartless person who doesn't care about his own child so-"
"Excuse me, what did you say?" Hyungshik butted in just before she finished speaking. "A heartless person? I've raised these kids on my own for years now. I surely don't need your help and never asked for it!"
"Yeah, and you're doing a great job at it" Mrs Cho humorously scoffed. "That's why you kicked Taehyung out of the house and made sure Ari broke up with Namjoon!"
"Taehyung's case was difficult. I told him to leave out of anger, I thought he was going to come back and apologize, I would've forgiven him but he never did" Hyungshik retorted and hearing that made Taehyung fume with anger. "When I asked him to come back, he refused.... now, it's not my fault if he's living with his boyfriend"
To everyone's confusion, a burst of laugh echoed in the room.
Jungkook turned to his side to see Taehyung laughing so hard that tears were forming under his eyelids.
He was worried for a split second but then...
"You thought I was going to come back and kneel down to beg your forgiveness?" Taehyung halfway shouted, before anyone knew, he jumped out of his seat, so fast, that Jungkook's heart missed a beat. "Since mother passed away, you've treated me like trash. Always favoring my sisters, asking for their days, congratulating their success but me? Have you ever cared about me? All you kept reminding me was how much of a disappointment I was!" Taehyung's breath was ragging. "You kicked me out because you thought I was going to kill my sister... because in your opinion, it's my fault if mother is no longer in this word!... And you- you- expected me to come back? Would you really want me, the useless, unworthy son to come back? Aren't you afraid I'm going to kill our entire family?" By the time Taehyung finished, hot tears were streaming down his cheeks. He felt so much lighter but also embarrassed for bursting out like that. He knew Hyungshik needed to hear how he truly felt, even if the older man wouldn't care, he just wanted to say what has been weighting him for years now.
Everyone seemed to go silent after his outburst, well, they must not know what to say to that. Hyungshik was so proud to admit where he went wrong, Mrs Cho was too stunned, Ari and Sana didn't want to agree because they were too scared to take sides, and Jungkook, gosh- Taehyung didn't even want to look at the said boy. Why couldn't their family be like the other's?
He just wanted to live a normal life, have a loving family and be with Jungkook, was that too much to ask?
"I-... I didn't know you felt that way" Hyungshik breathed out after minutes of silence and Taehyung wanted to laugh at his face- he didn't know what, now?
"I didn't praise you so often because you were always such a bad student, you weren't doing good in school, going out at nights, and sleeping with- other people" Hyungshik pointed almost calmly because one angry person in the room was enough. "You were sleeping with other males, older men even, so of course, I wasn't happy with you"
"So you kicked me out because you thought I was a whore" Taehyung flatly said.
Well, he was never a saint, he would be lying if he were to contradict his father but there was still so many things the old man didn't know.
