Again, Human AU, same warnings as my SolarMoon book (if you havent read that, it is the first book in the series so you might wanna do that), a continuation of Digital Delicacy so Solar and Moon are still a thing, Ruin's POV the whole story unless stated otherwise, and... thats it. Enjoy, Starlights!
I heard the delightful screams before I saw the owner of said screams. The large area the Superstar Daycare is settled in reminds me much of a gymnasium, with its horrid acoustics and echoing walls. A laugh, louder and brighter than the rest, gave me a faint feeling of nostalgia. I figured I knew who the sound belonged to.
From where I was, standing by the big garage door that acts as the main entrance to this cavern, I could see children playing on large jungle gyms - whether standing on the top of it or crawling around inside, slowly getting scared they won't find the exit until they reach a slide and shoot down it, giggling.
After a moment I manage to move my feet again, directing them to a staircase leading downward about 30 to 60 meters away from me. I have no idea why Fazbear designed the walk to be so long, considering the nearly 200 children here on the day-to-day, but I rarely question Fazbear anymore.
Descending the stairs, I can already feel myself nearly growing deaf from the joy. The large wooden doors were, open, allowing me view of the chaos. In the midst of the knee-high crowd, standing tall and laughing with a few children trying to climb him as he fakes being defeated in ferocious battle, was Sun. His spiked yellow headset, which he had remade since his last version had impaled my foot, made him seem taller than he actually was. Large ruffles gave the illusion of no neck. He spotted me and waved before toppling over, allowing children to swarm and drown him.
I walk in slowly, careful not to step on a child sleeping by the door, and stand in front of the desk. Sun knew I was here, so I figured he would eventually come over to see what I needed.
Sun was smiling wide, laughing at the children, tickling a young boy. He then stood and pointed to the side. "Now, go play with Earth for a moment!" he said. "Sunny has to do something, but I will be back."
"Yes, Sunny!" the children cheer before rushing to the side, presumably to Sun's sister, Earth. Sun watches them go before starting in my direction. My heart races with anxiety as he draws closer.
He sighs and takes off his headpiece, running his hand through his long hair. It was out of it's ponytail, since the piece acts as a nifty headband, and so golden locks flowed a small ways past his shoulders. He was an inch taller than me, though he was very proud of that inch. His dark chocolate skin with pale vitiligo splashes was glistening with fait sweat. "Hey, Ruin," he greeted me.
"Hello!" I try to sound cheery despite my (most likely very obvious) nervousness. "Is this a good time to ask something of you?"
"I mean..." He pauses. "... I guess?"
"Alrighty... I mean, it's more asking permission than asking you to do something. Well, I suppose I'm asking for you to give permission, which is in turn asking you to do something, which is give permission. Though, permission isn't physical so you're not handing it to me, but-"
Sun holds his hands up to silence me. "Just ask, Ruin."
I take a deep breath. "Can I help around the daycare for the month?"
He freezes. "Uh..." He tilts his head to the side. "Why?"
"I just..." I twirl my thumbs nervously. "I... feel bad. That the past me destroyed your home. The daycare... I figured I need to pay it back somehow."
He blinks for a few seconds in silence. I could feel myself beginning to sweat as well, though for a different reason. "Ruin, you realize that wasn't you-"
"Yes, I am aware that wasn't me." It was how I greeted others practically. "Hi, I'm not the guy that possibly ordered Bloodmoon to kill your family, and certainly not the evil man that blew up a daycare and partially (momentarily) ruined the lives of a small yet growing family!" I'd sound like a maniac if I actually said that, but I've been tempted a few times. "Still," I continue, "I feel like I owe it to you and your... siblings." I also need to do something except pick my nose and fail to fix arcade machines, I thought to myself. Though, I would never say that aloud.
"Oh." Sun pauses. "Well, sure! It wouldn't hurt to have an extra pair of hands around here, even for a month. Do you have anything more..." He eyed me up and down, hands on his hips, with what looked like distaste. "... work appropriate?"
I look down at my outfit - oversized hoodie and rather tight shorts. A sharp contrast to Sun's Sunny jester attire, with his mask that he only wears when it's not play time. "I'm... afraid not," I admit with a sigh.
He rubs his temple. "Well, I can give you Moon's old outfit, if you want. You two are a similar size."
"Oh, please don't go out of your way for me."
"It's not out of my way. Moon would probably let you have it anyway." Without asking for permission, he pushes me to the door. He then turns the other way and screams, "EARTH!"
There is a reply, slightly muffled over the screams of children. "Yes?!"
"CAN YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM FOR A SEC?! RUIN NEEDS A UNIFORM!" I cover my ears.Sun sure knew how to scream.
"Sure!"
"THANK YOU!" He turns back to me and smiles, speaking like he wasn't just yelling at the top of his lungs. "I can take you to my place and get you that uniform."
"Uh.. Sure..?" I uncover my ears, having to detangle one of my fingers from my mess of a black and blond ponytail (yes, I dyed my hair. As the kids say, "Sue me").
Without asking permission, Sun grabbed my wrist and begin leading me out the door while grabbing a small device out of his pocket. "I don't think you've seen the new house before, have you?" He asked as he tossed the device on the ground. A shimmering ovacular hologram appeared above it containing the image of a dock on a beach.
I stared at the device. "No..."
"Well... cool!"
He pushed me into the hologram, and I felt my world slip away.
