Oh Boy

Sun dragged me to his home once again. Basically by my throat.

"Moon, I'm home!" he calls when he shoves me into his door.

Lunar's voice responds from inside, "So is everyone else, numbnuts."

Sun mutters something about having a dark desire to make some peanut butter as we walk into the living room.

Lunar was sitting bunched up on a chair. Solar was sitting on the couch organizing a box of cards with words on them, though it's hard to see what the game is. Moon stands in the center of the room tapping his foot in mock impatience toward Solar. Earth was getting some water in the kitchen.

Sun looked at the box. "Charades?" he questions. "I didn't think we had that."

"Some kids were trying to play in the middle of a movie," Solar explained, "so I had to confiscate it until their parents picked it up. They didn't today, so I brought it over here. Thought everyone could unwind a bit."

"Also..." I walk around the couch to face Solar, who looks up. I give him the best dirty look I can muster. "Care to, uh... care to explain?"

He smirks at me before returning to the cards without an answer. "You can join us, Ruin." Sun blinks at the interaction but says nothing, instead walking into the kitchen to help Earth find the cups.

"Ruin, you want some wine?"

"Oh, uh, no, I don't drink.

Sun shrugs before pouring himself a glass, ignoring the concerned look from Earth. Solar absently hands Moon a card without looking at it, and I sit on the floor.

Moon looks at the card then glares at Solar. "You gave me this on purpose, didn't you?"

His significant other raises a curious eyebrow as he turns on the 30 second timer on his phone. "I didn't look at the card. That's not how the game works, Moon."

Moon sighs before setting the card down on the coffee table and crouching. He brings his hands to fists in front of his face, palms downward. Solar immediately begins to chuckle, covering his mouth. Sun, having come back with his purple glass along with Earth and her water, wheezes in laughter. Both receive a nasty look from Moon.

Well, the point of the game was so guess. So I guessed. "Uh... god?"

Moon flung the card at be and sat down next to his chuckling sweetheart, slugging him in the shoulder.

Sun has to set down his glass to cough up laughter. Earth also giggles, and Lunar isn't bothering to hide his delight with his loud cackling. I was the only one not understanding. "May I ask what is so funny?"

Moon glances at me. Solar speaks up. "Just an inside joke we all have. Don't worry about it."

"Oh." I was disappointed.

My turn I suppose. I grab a card and stand in the center, where everyone was now watching me. It's been a while since all eyes were on me.

Movie: Tangled.

I set the card face-down on the table. "How am I meant to do that?"

"That's up to you." Solar turns on his timer.

Instant panic settles into its comfy nest in my brain. My first thought that I carry out is removing my hair from its bun and shaking it out, then tangling my fingers in it before moving them upward to imitate climbing. The family begins guessing.

"Pulling? No-"

"Brushing."

"Don't look at me, Solar!"

"To be fair, Moon-"

I look over at Sun as I 'work', as he hasn't said anything. He watches a lot of kids movies with the children, so he probably had a better chance of guessing than his family - even if Earth and Lunar also cared for children, and Solar ran concessions at the theatre.

He was simply staring at me, eyes wide. It was a similar expression to when he walked in with the mask as I was showering. His eyes were soft as he inspected my face rather than my hair, which was the focus of this attraction. We made eye contact, and my heart froze. I could tell his did too. It was impossible not to get lost in the sapphire ocean of his eyes. The feeling was similar to drowning, though much more pleasant. I wanted them to pull me under. Did my green eyes have the same effect, like a forest with looming trees and knee-high grass?

A loud beeping startles us both from the spell. He blinks rapidly and takes a sip from his wine, looking away. I face the onlookers, having forgotten we were playing a game. My voice is shakier than I'd have liked it to be. "Uhm, Tangled. Like-like the movie."

Moon groans and buries his face in his hands. "I was so close with 'tangled hair'."

Lunar squints at me, then at Sun, then back to me. I realize he might have noticed the way we looked at each other, since Sun was behind him.

I quickly brush my hair out with my fingers. "I-I should leave," I stammer. "It's getting late, and I'm tired."

Moon doesn't care. Solar nods, Lunar runs for a card. Earth tells me goodnight. I look over at Sun, who nods. "'Night..."

Well, this will be wonderfully awkward for work tomorrow...
