Suddenly I was on that dock, outside in the warmth of the sun. I fell to my hands and knees as my world spun around me. "Ugh..."
I hear footsteps behind me. "Yeah," Sun mutters, kneeling down next to me, "I should've warned you..."
"You don't say?" I look up at him with what I hoped was a confident glare.
Sun's golden hair blended with the sunset behind him, casting his chocolate features into dark beauty. His blue eyes watched me carefully, playful yet wanted to know I wouldn't spew. He seemed to shine in the glow of his namesake. He was... stunning? Is that the word? Whatever the word was, that's what he looked like in that moment. I felt myself being drawn in.
Then he sighed and stood, holding out a hand to offer me up, and the moment passed. I shake my head to clear my thoughts and stand on my own, albeit a bit shaky. "Please give me a warning next time..."
"I might," he teased with a wink before turning and starting on the twisty path up to him and his brother's house. I follow him, fixing my ponytail which had felt rearranged after the teleportation. My hair went halfway down my back, so ponytails were a mandatory.
Sun fumbled in his pocket before pulling out a key and unlocking his door. "You can use the master bath to shower. The water's fresh and warms up pretty fast. Plus, the pressure is good."
"Pressure is good, eh?" I offer a joke with a raised eyebrow.
He chuckles as he holds the door open for me. "Depends on the kind of pressure, I guess."
"Peer pressure is horrid."
"You can say that again." Sun closes the door and leads me upstairs. I poke at the cardboard bear cutout in the stairwell as I pass it. I hear him stifle a laugh.
He enters a room and comes back out with a pile of clothes - much like his outfit, only blue and white and dotted with stars. The classic Moon Drop hat sat on the top. I grabbed the stack and handed the cap back to him. "I'm not very good with putting kids so sleep," I admitted. He shrugged before leading me down a side hallway.
The bathroom was very big.
I set the uniform as Sun pulls a towel out of the cabinet. He pointed to the shower tap. "The further up you twist it," he said, "the hotter it gets. I always turned it up highest and then turned it down to something comfortable. You can use my shampoo, on the left side." He gestured to his array.
"Alright then. Thank you, Sun," I add. He smiles before leaving, closing the door behind him.
I step gingerly into the shower and turn on the water as Sun told me to, jumping out of the way in time to avoid the cold jet of water that shot out. Pulling my hoodie off (I was not wearing a shirt underneath it, as per usual), I look at myself in the mirror. Being a different dimensional version of Sun and Moon, I of course had vitiligo - more like Sun's, dark skin with white splashes like paint. My blue and red eyes stared back at me. I didn't like the red one. I only had it because of my... incident. I growl at myself for even thinking about him and remove my shorts, setting my discarded clothes in a neat pile. My ponytail came out easily, and my striped hair cascaded down my back. I popped my knuckles before testing the water. Steaming hot. I turn the nob down a small amount and step in.
I let out an involuntary sigh of relief as the hot water washed the cold of the room off of me. Their water did, in fact, have a wonderful pressure. I could almost feel it massaging away the tension all down my back. "Mmm..." I moan softly, leaning my head back to wet my hair.
A knock on the door snaps me from my trance. "Ruin?" Sun's voice calls. "Can I come in? I forgot to give you the mask."
My face heats, not from the water. Sun had just casually asked if he could walk in on me showering. "Uhm..." I pause. "... I mean, if you don't mind it..."
The knob turns slowly, and the door opens. Sun strolls in casually and places a crescent moon mask on top of the uniform. "There we go," he mutters, seeming proud of himself for such a small task. He then stares at it for a moment. "You know, I might need to do your make-up before you get to wear the mask. No idea why I brought it in here..." He scratches the side of his neck nervously. "Well... dammit."
I cover my body and step back a bit. "I-I can just wait to put it on..." I offer quietly. He turns to me, nearly making me fall over with nervousness. He didn't seem fazed at seeing me naked in the shower, most likely looking greasy and disgusting.
"Yeah, you might have to..." Sun seems to finally notice my discomfort and turns red in the face. "Oh-oh! I'm sorry, you can have your shower. Uh..." He stares at me for a moment, his eyes tracing my body, before covering his eyes and dashing out of the room. A strangled, muffled "Sorry!" is all I hear as the door slams shut.
I stand there in shock for a moment. His gaze had... I knock the side of my head with the heel of my palm a few times. Bad thoughts, Ruin, I warned myself. Don't have those thoughts. Nasty... I sigh and reach for Sun's shampoo. The bottle I grabbed was clarifying shampoo, seeming made for men with longer hair. Since mine fit that category, I poured a small amount onto my hand and lathered it into my head, massaging my scalp rather roughly to distract my mind.
God dammit, I need to use some of Sun's hand sanitizer on my thoughts...
